Chapter 55: Chapter 55

I didn't think twice about opening his front seat, so we could get in his car and drive away. I didn't glance at Adonis again, despite the fact that I knew he was still gazing at me. I'm not sure how Cole discovered Adonis' home. He might be able to find me, but I know Cole won't be able to find out where I live as long as I'm in Adonis' care, so I asked him when we were away from home.

“How did you know I lived here?” Notice how my tone caresses the wrath there. It felt like gritty pebbles were slipping down my throat. I don't want anyone meddling in my personal life. If I wasn't already furious with Adonis, I'm now blushing from refusing to smoke my nose and face.

“Just,” he muttered, raising my sleepy blood and rage even higher. I clasped my hands to keep the impending rage at bay. But no matter how upset I was, I suppressed it, since I wanted to avoid stressing myself out in the coming days.

No one spoke until we arrived at the restaurant. We were the only ones who could converse when we entered the restaurant. I feel it would be better not to ruin his smile by putting on a poker face. I'm not sure what's amusing. We sat right away since I didn't know how we'd communicate if the server hadn't arrived. He was the only one who spoke to me while we sat since I had no intention of speaking.

“I know you already live with Adonis.” That was his opening to me, but I did not react. I tilted my head and wanted to peek outside and hope for something. But I didn’t know what it was, it was like I was waiting for someone. I let him continue.

“If you are the true heir of Everdeen, you need to leave his side. You don't know what kind of person Adonis is.” He folded his hands and placed his elbow on the table as if to pray. I watched his every move. I sighed because what should my reaction be?

He took my hand then squeezed it as if he was waking me up to the truth. No matter how much he wakes me up, I won't get up because I'm not asleep. I'm drowning. That’s the difference between what he says and how I feel. I removed his hand from me, but before I could say what I wanted to tell him the server had arrived. We said our order first, and I was suddenly struck when I saw the seafood again. I've been craving seafood for a few days, so I don't even get tired.

I touched my stomach. I used to dream of stuffing something, but now because of what I found out. I wish I hadn’t thought about it.

When the server left, I talked to him. I crossed my arms then leaned back in the chair. I looked at him earnestly. “I know the tension between you and Adonis.” If I hadn’t heard Wendy, I wouldn’t have known that Adonis just used me to bring Cole down through me. He made me believe all his lies.

He didn't say a word, he just took the glass of wine with only water that could have left us by the server. When he finished, he nodded. I don’t know if that agrees with what I’m saying, or he is mocking me. So that the two of us wouldn't talk further, I said what I could say.

“I can help you how to make him fall to his knees. He wants me to go to you to bring you down, so I will do the same with him.” I did not hesitate to tell him that. That's what Adonis wants, he always has an opponent, so even I did. I will give him a fight he will never expect.

“How?” He shifted to his place and became eager to hear what I had to say to him.

“You don't need to know how, I will just provide the information you need and when we have gathered them, I will appear in the public announcement to support those details.” I don't know yet what information is needed, but I will go through everything gradually.

He grabbed his chin and seemed to be thinking. He did not take away what I was saying. I just want Adonis to come back and experience the feeling of loneliness and kind of having no idea if there is a gun and a knife behind you. When the food was laid out in front of us, I tasted especially seafood. I immediately let go of that while he was just watching me. I ignored him because I was so hungry.

“I didn't know you were that strong to eat.” He chuckles. I was suddenly irritated by what he said, but I did not calm down or complain. Not long after, he also moved his food. The two of us were quiet. I have noticed a drastic change in my behavior since what happened last night.

“Did you know that there is a place near here where they run the Ferris wheel even at noon?” He broke the silence of the two of us while I in turn sucked the sauce that went to my fingers. I looked at him because of what he said. I don't want to go home yet, maybe I can go first. “Do you want to go?”

When he asked, I nodded without hesitation. I have never ridden a Ferris wheel in my entire life. I only passed it when I was still on the street sleeping and watching how it spins like a wheel. That’s the kind of life I have. Sporadically it's slow but usually, it's fast, and you're somewhat dizzy.

“Let's go?” He invites me.
