Chapter 51: Chapter 51
I just ignored the guard and went straight away. I just put the "calling card" in my bag because he said that I would just call Wendy just in case I had "free time". Wendy doesn't seem to have any intention because if there is, she might have fought me if it was just about Adonis.
I looked behind me again because I might see Adonis but he wasn’t there. Where could he have gone? Never mind, I'm sure he'll call me when he sees I'm not in his house.
When I got out of the main gate, I immediately took a taxi. I told him where the location Cole had sent me was. I didn’t make the mistake of just wearing a jacket because of the extreme cold. It was as if I was being blown away by the strong wind and it was as if just a little outside of my skin, it would freeze. Perhaps, there's a storm coming so maybe the climate is so cold now. I hugged myself while being inside the car. It was quiet all around and what we were going through was also dark so I looked at the time.
9 in the evening.
I put the phone back in my bag. I thought it was too early and I just slept longer. I didn't know it was too late. I am getting curious about where Adonis is because he doesn't leave without letting me know. He was not in and at this time we were both insides.
"Ma'am, we're already here."
“Ma'am?”
I snapped back to reality when the taxi driver called me a second time. My mind is walking somewhere else, so I was lost in myself again. If he hadn't called me I might have just stared out the window until morning.
"Sorry, brother." I instantly apologized for my behavior. I feel like I’m not on my own right now. From then on, I did nothing but stare. I already have enough sleep so I don't know why my mind still doesn't seem to be able to return to the world.
I handed him the payment then left directly. I looked up at the high and beautiful exclusive restaurant. I was suddenly embarrassed to enter because of what I was wearing. The servers might drive me away because they might mistake me for a beggar. I just forget in my brain what I was thinking then marched in.
As soon as I stepped on the low stair of the restaurant I already saw laughing softly which I immediately heard. The smell of wine shortly rose to my nose so my hand quickly landed on my mouth and nose. I also touched my stomach to prevent nausea. I just wish Cole took VIP because I can’t stand the smell here below. I also heard the violin and piano playing which people can think that it was a concert.
When I entered, two servers approached me presently. A woman and man. What they are wearing is much better than what I am wearing. I look ragged as they are even more presentable to look at than me. They were smiling at me and it looked like they wouldn't stop me from entering even though the people inside were wearing nightgowns and suits. They bowed to me while holding their stomachs. They are like butlers.
“Good evening ma’am. Did you reserve a table today?” The woman asked me. The two of them are standing well. The smile returned to her lips.
Maybe it's too hard to have a job like this. You need to smile day and night for the customer. Aside from being annoying, it's also frustrating when the customer's attitude to you isn't good. Instead of fighting, you need to understand their problem even if it is not related to the restaurant. I was really lucky to heaven because Adonis adopted me. I didn’t have to work because there were credit cards landed in front of me. So, in return for people working hard all day just to provide for the needs of customers, I smiled back at them.
“Yes, there is. Cole Dela Vega reserved a table for us.” The man looked at the board he was holding and then told me where I was coming from. I touched my nose again because I was dizzy from the extreme courage of the smell of wine.
We walked upstairs. Wow. I didn't know that Cole didn't just reserve just one room but the entire second floor. All I know is, if you only take a room, it's just below. If you reserve more expensive, as far as I know, it covers the entire second floor. That is you have your pianist, play the violin and there is no room here but it covers the spacious second floor while you are the only two of the person you include here. When I stepped on the last rung of the stairs I saw him sitting and smiling.
His elbows were already on the table while his smiles could not be erased from his eyes. I smiled back, good and he didn’t notice that his number had already been blocked by me. I turned to him to request that the musicians be withdrawn first because I had something important to say to him.
"Get rid of those who play the instrument first because I have something important to say to you." I stood by his side as he still sitting down. My two hands went into both pockets of the jacket I was wearing. I just played with my hand in my pocket because sweat seemed to form on my palms.
He looked first at the musicians than at me. He looked back and forth until finally, he motioned to the server I was talking to and whispered. He stood up and pulled the chair in front of him so that I could sit down. When I saw that the servers were leaving and playing my attention returned to him. His eyebrows met, unsure of what I was doing. Earlier he looked at me from head to toe, wondering maybe why I was just wearing this.
"I'm nervous about what you're going to say, it seems like what you're going to say is serious." He chuckles. He thought maybe that it doesn't matter what will I tell him.
I didn’t show the flash drive first. I played with the water in front of me. The server man who sent me earlier also came out so we were the only two here. Our surroundings became intense, I'm not sure if I was the only one who could feel it or even he could feel how intense the ambiance between the two of us was.
"Do you remember when I opened the topic about the Everdeen's?" My voice was bitter. I still can’t accept that he did that to my parents even though Adonis said it was for business. Every dagger that I thought was a knife pierced my throat with every word that came out of my mouth. The only difference is, it doesn't hit him but hurt my throat.
Even if I decide to just forget everything, I still can't accept that he did that to my parents. I still have a plant that is hateful with him but I will try not to hose or move it so that it doesn't grow anymore.
"Oh yes. About the Everdeen. You have already opened the topic to them before. Why? Is there a problem?” He still doesn't remove his elbow from the table and is already playing with the small mustache that has grown around his mouth.
"What if I say I'm the daughter of the Everdeen's?" I wanted to add the phrase “you killed” but I didn’t say that to him because later I would say that at the exact time are exact words.
The expression on his face changed from what I said. He removed his elbows from the table and leaned back in his chair. He touched his lips and smiles flashed on his lips. "How can that be, I've seen the daughter of the Everdeen's and she looks far from the way you look."
He just shook his head. He did not turn his face anywhere. He seemed anxious. Eventually, I took out the flash drive I was holding and placed it on the table. I stood up so he immediately looked at me. I wouldn’t want to do these things. I just want to walk away and not look back at him so that the pain in my heart is gone but in the end, I still did the last thing that I think will make my heart feel.
“Why did you do that to them? Why, as much as you can do, why did you choose to burn them and involve other innocent people? My voice isn’t loud because I don’t want to have a scandal. My voice is just weak but it can feel every emphasis there.
“Burn? What are you saying?"
