Chapter 26: Chapter 26
Cole did not speak to me so that I could rest, but he did bring me food for lunch and dinner. He was correct, and I regained my strength since I felt better the next day. It was cozy, and by the time I ate that night, I was feeling a little better.
I heard birds crowing, and I think I awoke early since I slept early the night before. I stood up and glanced at the cabinet that had been prepared for me. Cole didn’t sleep here, so I suppose they assigned us to a separate cabin. I brought my baggage and a backpack. I took the suitcase first to place my clothes in the cabinet so that I wouldn’t have to struggle every time I took a shower and dressed. Next, I took up the phone and tried to open it, but it was dead. I also assumed that I wouldn’t be able to use it here because there was no signal in the hidden provinces. It is tough to find a signal, just like in Guangdong. When I was about to get up to go out and ask where I could find the toilet, I heard the call to me.
“Luna?” The simultaneous call to me is concurrent knocking. Fortunately, even though the door was constructed of delicate wood, they nonetheless locked it. I recognized the voice right away and opened the door.
The food Cole brought instantly covered my nose; even though I had eaten a lot the night before, I couldn’t help but become hungry since the sight and scent of the food he brought made me hungry. Fortunately, I had finished putting my clothes away. They also constructed entirely my bed of wood. Because it was the only blanket available and lacked a mattress, my back was also a little painful. He hurled the meal he’d brought with him. I also picked up the clothing I’d left there in the hopes of wearing them after I had a bath.
He approached me after putting all of that on the wooden bed, and it’s incredible because I can’t feel my dread of him. I tightened my grip on the clothes that I was holding, and he stroked my forehead to see whether I was still hot. My cough has gone away since he served me porridge.
“Are you feeling well? Your forehead isn’t hot anymore.” He took his palm off my forehead and walked back. “I didn’t go fishing with you because I thought you had still a fever,” he said, placing his hand in the pocket of his jeans. Because of the scent he wears, I believe he just took a bath.
I wasn’t upset by what he said, since I knew he was concerned about my condition. I gave him a kind look. When we first met, I believe this was the first time I offered him a genuine smile. I’m sure I’d still have a fever if it hadn’t been for him.
“I’M GOING TO YOU NEXT TIME!” I told him cheerfully. He laughed at what I did and said. “Anyway, can I know where I can take a bath here? I haven’t taken a bath yet.” In just one day, he took care of me, my dealings with him suddenly became casual. I’m so soft on people who do me good, so I’m not surprised I fell in love with Adonis.
“There is a sea here and there is also a river but because the sea is salty water, it may hurt your skin.” What he said reminded me of what happened in Guangdong province. Everything reminds me of Adonis. I think he has become a poison to me. I want to complain to myself!
“After I eat, I’ll just take a shower, then we’ll talk to people.” I turned to the food and walked over to it. He also looked there but spoke again.
“Then, I’ll go out. I’m just in the other cabin. Just tell me if you need anything and if I can help you with something.” He opened the door again and went out.
I finished eating shortly, then came out as well. I saw the kids running and the adults talking. I suddenly remembered that Cole hadn’t told me where the river was. He did not tell me where it was placed. He didn’t even give me a direction. When a kid saw that I was holding clothes, he looked at it and then approached me.
“Would you like to take a bath, miss?” Her eyes were a mix of curiosity and innocence. The kids followed her and waited for me to say something. It’s humiliating that I’m going to have them tell me where the river is. I jumped as I was ready to respond because of the man who answered from behind me. Within me, I know that voice is the one I am most familiar with.
He drew me somewhere even before I could say anything. I didn’t respond right away since it hadn’t occurred to me he was here. Is this still a dream? How did he end himself here? And why is he dressed like that? When I heard the water flowing, I could not answer my question. He is now dressed in a blue hue commonly worn by farmers, as well as a hat that protects farmers from the sun.
I quickly let go of his grasp on my hand and avoided looking at him. Isn’t his fiancee supposed to be with him? What brings him here now? I can only prove that he is acting in this way because he believes I am his obligation.
“What are you doing here?” I still didn’t look up at him. I was just staring at the river that was flowing fast. If he thinks I need his help, I don’t need that anymore. Another one I’m getting into Cole’s heart. All I have to think about is whether I should continue to take revenge on him or just stop.
I was surprised when he grabbed my chin and faced it with him. His eyes were dark circles as if he hadn’t slept for weeks or days. Add to that his eyes as if he was looking for someone and as if he was missing someone. Don’t look at me that way. I will think again of your strange stare as if they have meaning and in the end, I will only be disappointed.
I removed his hand from my chin, but he put it back and it surprised me at what he did next. My brain didn’t process everything anymore. The world cycle seems to slow down. NO. It was as if the world had stopped and my eyes seemed to become slaves because they moved spontaneously and closed. I savored his kisses until my eyes just spontaneously dripped as I remembered Wendy. I pushed him hard and because he seemed to be carried away by what we were doing; I did it easily.
I immediately jumped into the water, it is not the same as in Guangdong province, where there are falls. It’s just a strong current of water, so it’s not deep. I don’t know what his purpose is and why he’s still here; he hasn’t talked to me for a few weeks so I’ve been fine with it. Add to that what he did today that made my brain even more confused.
I backed away from him so he couldn’t touch me. I stared down at my shaking hands, not sure if it was from the cold water or from what he had done. Because of the earlier leap, even the garments I was carrying were gone. Maybe I’ll just come back in damp clothes and change into my cabin. The clothing I was wearing was lovely, albeit a touch damp. I was unaware that he had left because of the deep of my thought. That’s when I let out a sigh of relief. I can feel the weight of what I’m feeling when I’m next to him, or even if he’s simply nearby.
Because of the previous haste, I was also unable to carry my soap. I kept thinking it was my bad luck today, but while I soaked in the water, I touched my lips to where he kissed me. I’m not sure whether it was simply a dream, but if it was, I hope I don’t forget it when I wake up.
I got up and went to exchange since I couldn’t stand the cold any longer. Is there no clean water in this area? Where do they get their water from when they cook or drink? Because I haven’t been able to soap up, I’m still stinking. When I returned, I jump and touched my chest when I saw him waiting for the enormous block of rock. He was sitting there, and he just looked up because I made a noise.
“Why are you here?” I had already asked him. He’s now staring at me. When I compared the two of them to Cole while he was standing, I wasn’t mistaken: whatever he wears, he just looks like a model.
“I’m worried. You didn’t tell me about your plan, you didn’t even call. When Mark called you, he couldn’t contact your phone.” The dagger went even deeper as I avoided going deep into my chest at what he said. Who forgot because the fiance is back? It’s funny to think that he told me I did not call.
“Don’t be. I’m grown, I can handle myself. Even with the plan, I will continue it with myself. You should go back to your fiance.” Even though my voice didn’t want to be bitter, that’s how it came out. We just stopped talking when someone called me, so we looked at each other. Cole was not allowed to see us talking and he might ask me who this man was.
“Luna?” I could hear the crackle coming, so I quickly prevented Cole from entering.
“Y-yes? Can you stay where you are at?” I watched Adonis tighten his jaws before I finally left, but even before I could move he grabbed my hands, but I shook it and removed the hand that was holding me.
I left him there.
