Chapter 78: Chapter 78

Third Person’s POV

Sebastian's concern for Agatha was growing. Ever since that night, he hadn't been able to reach her. She had been absent from their night review classes.

"Should I just go and check on her?" he pondered.

He didn't want to run into Sua, whom Agatha had introduced as a distant relative. But he couldn't shake off his worry for her.

As Sebastian continued riding his motorbike, he contemplated on how to meet her. Just as he was about to turn the steering wheel, he caught a glimpse of a familiar figure in his peripheral vision.

He immediately stopped the bike and looked towards the direction where he saw a lady standing on a balcony.

"Is that just my imagination?" Sebastian wondered, his eyes fixed on Agatha.

There she was, standing on the balcony of a grand mansion!

At the same time, Agatha, who was taking a moment to gather her thoughts, averted her gaze. She locked eyes with the guy standing below. Instantly, she recognized him.

'What is he doing here?!' She silently exclaimed before quickly sitting on the floor to hide herself. Even though she knew it was too late to act clueless, she couldn't bear the thought of prolonged eye contact with him.

"What are you up to? Is crawling on the floor part of your morning routine?" Brett approached her.

As soon as she reached out for his hand, he was compelled to sit down beside her. "Ohh!"

"Shh!" She hushed him firmly, placing her index finger against her lips. When Brett saw how she pressed her finger against those soft lips, he suddenly felt the urge to kiss them once more.

He chuckled to himself, "Kissing someone isn't part of my morning routine."

"Who are you hiding from?" he asked, trying to be helpful.

"My friend," she replied, hoping he wouldn't inquire further since he didn't know Sebastian. But...

"Oh, Sebastian? Why are you avoiding that guy?"

Wide-eyed, she glanced at Brett and exclaimed, "How did you know him?"

"Well, his family and I are acquainted. We occasionally have meals together, maybe... once a month? And he also lives in this village."

"What?!"

Her reaction only piqued his curiosity further. So he inquired, "What's your relationship with that brat?" He sounded angry and suspicious for some unknown reason. It wasn't until he added, "Is my slave dating behind my back?"

Now it was clear. He was jealous.

But that jealousy quickly dissipated when he received her piercing response. "Sebastian is just a friend."

With that, a relieved smile escaped his lips. Agatha was taken aback for a moment, as it was the first time she had seen this kind of expression on him.

'Or maybe he always looked sinister to me before, which is why I was so surprised?' she wondered.

For a brief moment, Brett looked like an angel in her eyes. But that all changed when he suddenly jumped up and waved to Sebastian.

"Hey!" Agatha yelled, tugging at his pajama fabric.

"Stop pulling, I'm not wearing anything underneath," Brett joked.

Blushing intensely, she quickly let go. "What are you doing?!"

"Just greeting your friend. Hiding won't help since he already saw you."

Right. Sebastian was certain that he had seen her, so he stayed in place with his helmet still on. Eventually, he took it off and hopped off his bicycle. He locked eyes with Brett, his expression hardened. Whenever Brett received that kind of intensity, he knew Sebastian had something up his sleeve.

"What should I do? Should I go down and explain?" Agatha panicked, biting her nails. But her hesitation was pointless because Sebastian had already made up his mind to come inside.

"No need. He's coming in," Brett reported with a disgusted grin.

** **

On her way to the living room where Agatha was about to meet Sebastian, she couldn't help but recall the awkward scene from their field trip.

It was when Brett showed up and Lawrence introduced himself as her fiancé.

Now, faced with the dilemma of what to do, Agatha decided to pretend like she didn't know Brett.

After all, she and Sebastian hadn't seen each other since they went their separate ways, so she never had the chance to explain why she suddenly had a fiancé. And now, here she was, caught by Sebastian in Brett's mansion.

What kind of excuse could she possibly come up with this time?

As Agatha continued walking alongside Brett, each step felt like it took an eternity to reach the living room.

Brett's house was undeniably huge, but for some reason, every step down the staircase felt like a never-ending journey.

Agatha desperately racked her brain for an excuse, but her racing heart made it difficult for her to think clearly. Until... Sebastian was already standing right in front of them.

Brett chuckled, "What a surprise! You never came inside my house, even though I always invited you to have dinner with me and your parents. Isn't this a day to celebrate?"

Sebastian glanced at Brett, but his attention was focused on the person next to him. "What are you doing here?" he asked Agatha.

Agatha's trembling eyes locked with Sebastian's gaze. The way she stammered, "I...I...I... You see... I'm..." revealed her lack of preparedness for this awkward encounter.

"What is your relationship with this man? Why are you at his house when you're engaged to someone else?" Sebastian questioned. "It's strange."

Agatha's mouth opened, but she couldn't find the right words to say, so she closed her lips. That's when Brett interjected with an intriguing inquiry.

"I heard that you're Agatha's friend," Brett stated.

Sebastian couldn't help but feel irritated whenever he heard Brett mention his friend and Agatha's name. "Are you seriously her friend?" Brett sneered mockingly. "The way you talk about her sounds like you're her possessive boyfriend."

Sebastian's hands clenched tightly. He wasn't one to engage in fights unless someone pushed him beyond his limits. But Brett's taunting felt like reopening a fresh wound that had kept him awake at night.

Sensing the tension between the two, Agatha finally spoke up. "He's my uncle!"

Both of them turned to look at her, surprised by her sudden revelation.

"He's my uncle, Brett," she stammered, swallowing nervously.

Brett pointed at himself, struggling to process the unexpected information he had just heard.

“Uncle?" Sebastian questioned.

"Uh, yeah," she replied nasally. "Guess what? I just discovered that I have way too many relatives. I got kicked out of another relative's place, so now Uncle Brett took me in. HA HA HA."

Agatha chuckled to herself, thinking, ‘Let's not look at Brett's side right now.’

Sebastian then turned his attention to the guy standing beside them, who was blinking nervously. "So, you're an uncle too?"

Brett's hand clenched tightly as if the situation had suddenly turned against him.

"Alright," Sebastian nodded. "In that case, I guess I'll have to come back here later. After all, I'm the best friend of the uncle's niece."

Brett couldn't believe that there was still one more person he needed to be cautious of.
