Chapter 42: Chapter 42
Early morning, Lanceil woke up Vincent and forced him to jog with him.
Although Vincent opposed the idea, he was forced to go out and exercise.
'He must be a dictatorial president in his past life,' Vincent complained inwardly.
He reduced his pace while holding his side waist.
The fatigue set in, and he felt really exhausted. Since it has been a long time since he took a long run, his body needs time to get used to the increased effort.
As he caught his breath, he looked at his brother who is still jogging at full speed.
30 minutes before they headed out to the park for a run, he and Lanceil grabbed bananas, toast with ham, and water to give their bodies the fuel they needed before they ran. After that, Lanceil laced up his running shoes. Full of motivation he ran enthusiastically.
"And he is still not tired?" Vincent asked. "Is he a monster?"
After resting for a while, Vincent followed his brother with the face of a boy who was forced to come to a place he didn't want to visit.
Minutes later, the two decided to rest.
"Oh my f*cking sh*t," Vincent grunted before he leaned his head on the bench.
He looked at the clear sky while feeling the struggle of his lungs. He was wondering if it already exploded and if he needs to go straight to the hospital right now.
"Here."
Vincent looked at his brother who offered him a bottle of water.
"Thanks," he said, then grabbed the bottle. He opened the lid and emptied half of it. "That's refreshing," he breathed. "I'm sure I won’t be able to move tomorrow. And I will blame you for that."
"You should have stretched more."
"Don't talk to me about working out anymore. I feel like puking."
Lanceil stayed quiet and drank water.
The Grim sibling enjoyed the morning sky in silence.
Lanceil was always busy at work, and Vincent was busy spending his time outside to have fun. They rarely hang out, which made today a little bit special. However, Vincent could not shake off the feelings of suspicion.
'Did he ask me to work out with him because of last night?'
Vincent feared that his brother might figure out that he had hidden feelings for Agatha.
As much as Vincent doesn't want them together, he also does not want to get caught. His plan, for now, is to watch over the two and prevent what it is that needs prevention to protect his own heart.
Because if Agatha and Lanceil become a couple, Vincent has no idea how painful it will be for him. He can't imagine the emotions he'll experience because this is the first time he came to sincerely like a woman.
He dated a lot before. But that's only a pass time for him. Right now, he is sure he really likes Agatha. Because he realized that the more he hesitates to confess, the more he loves the person.
"Vincent, you know..."
Vincent’s eyes, which were blinded when he was looking too much at the sky, so he rested them for a while, shook. At Lanceil’s call, he opened them.
“What?" he answered undertone.
"All these years, I considered myself as a sinner," Lanceil said, "After losing Olive, I don't feel I can be happy again. No, I denied being happy. I was planning to stay like this for the rest of my life."
"..."
"However, nowadays, I'm having second thoughts. Is it okay to stay in misery?"
Vincent never replied to Lanceil. There's nothing to say, that's why. All he had to do was to listen to him until it was time for him to talk.
"Vincent."
"Hmmm?"
"I like Agatha.”
“…”
Vincent made fury balls on his fist as he bit his lower lip.
“I kept on denying it. But as time passed by, I am getting more certain. I am falling in love with her.”
Finally, Vincent opened his lips and he looked at his brother.
“Did you take me here just to tell me that?”
Lanceil stared back. He smiled at his younger brother and said, “Yes. I did.”
“Why?”
‘Is it because you are wary with me?’ Vincent wanted to add this, but he waited for Lanceil’s answer instead.
“Because I wanted to ask a favor,” Lanceil replied. “I love that you decided to stay here for good. However, I think you should go back home or have your own place to stay.”
Vincent’s eyes widened. He figured it out.
It wasn’t because his brother was suspicious of him. Lanceil wanted to have Agatha all by himself.
Within a short period of time, Vincent imagined what would Lanceil do if he’s alone with Agatha.
Lanceil will f*ck his maid around the condo whenever he wants.
Hiding his clenched fists, Vincent asked his brother, “What will you do to Agatha once I leave?”
The smile on Lanceil’s lips shifted into a sly grin. But there was sincerity in them.
“Vincent. I won’t try anything against Agatha’s will.”
And that’s the problem. Vincent knew that Agatha likes his brother, and that she would accept anything Lanceil would give to her.
ANYTHING.
“Did you confess to her?”
“Not yet. I am still waiting for the right time. Agatha is my maid. She might get shocked that her boss likes her.”
‘And you might get shocked that Agatha f*cking likes you,’ Vincent said painfully in his mind.
“Brother,” Vincent called. “Can you give me a month?”
“A month?”
“Yes. Give me a month to look for a new place to stay. I really don’t want to go home and live with Dad.”
Lanceil could not wait to spend days alone with Agatha. But for his brother, he was willing to endure a month.
“Sure.”
Lanceil tapped Vincent’s shoulder.
“For one month, stay in my condo. If you need help in looking, just tell me.”
“All right. Thanks.”
Lanceil had no idea that he might regret keeping Vincent in his house for one more month.
