Chapter 40: Chapter 40
Agatha and Lanceil walked inside the elevator.
Ding!
When the door closed, she pulled back away from him and lowered her gaze.
“I AM REALLY SORRY, SIR. That man is my best friend. But he doesn’t know that I am working as a maid. I lied to him and said that I am living with my relatives and…”
He raised his hand and tilted her chin up. “Stop.”
His thumb grazed over her lips and pressed, parting her mouth. Agatha almost bit his fingers but stopped herself in time.
“You don’t need to apologize. There are things that we wanted to keep by ourselves.”
Hearing his words, the stirring emotions, came to life. Even if she had thought she could bear it, her lips moved of their own accord.
“Thank you, Sir.”
Lanceil looked at his thumb on her lips. He felt envious and wished he could use his lips to shut her up instead. Still, he doesn’t want to scare his maid.
“But I hate the name you gave me. Britney? It sounds so feminine.”
Lanceil pulled his hand away and at the same time, the elevator door opened.
Ding!
“I am hungry. Hurry up and let’s eat.”
He walked out of the elevator first.
Agatha stared at the space before she followed Lanceil. She was stunned to witness how Lanceil forgave her so easily.
There was a part of her that was hoping that once Lanceil finds out that she has hidden intentions for approaching him, he might understand everything.
She hoped.
She prayed.
Agatha could think of one reason why it is possible. She caught Lanceil mast*rbating while calling her name. It’s clear that he was attracted to her body. But what if it is not only her body?
What if just like Agatha, Lanceil harbors feelings too?
“Sir!”
At her call, Lanceil halted and looked back.
“Why did you go out in the rain?” she asked.
To fetch Agatha. That is the answer.
Once Lanceil says this, it is game over. Agatha would know that he liked her too. However…
“I was hungry, so I thought of going outside to buy food,” Lanceil lied.
And because of his lie, Agatha lost hope.
“I see,” she murmured sadly.
“Well, since you are here, I don’t think I need to buy anymore. Let’s go in.”
Lanceil went inside the condo, and he left the door open for Agatha.
Agatha stared at the door.
‘Falling in love is like walking inside a door that has no way out.’
“I should end this as soon as possible,” Agatha told herself.
Instead of worrying about her lovelife with Lanceil, she thought of focusing on her plans: seducing Lanceil, terminating the contract, and finding out about her father’s murder case.
When Agatha went in, she saw Vincent sitting on the sofa.
Vincent and Lanceil rarely come back home and stay with Agatha. But tonight, they were both present.
Lanceil entered his room to change his clothes, leaving Agatha alone with Vincent in the living room.
Catching Vincent’s intent gaze, she asked, “What? You kept on looking at me. Do you want to ask something?"
Vincent gulped and mumbled, "Well. Did you prepare the clothes I need?"
"You mean the clothes you need when you go to Hawaii?" Agatha asked then smiled widely.
'Look at her getting so hyped up. She is so excited that I'm going to Hawaii,' Vincent laughed inly.
"Don't worry," Agatha reported happily. "I already prepared your luggage."
"Are you really that excited that I'll leave this place soon?"
"…” Agatha didn’t reply and only smiled.
Raising his brows, Vincent crossed his legs and stared at her with a smirk. "Well, I don't want to ruin your anticipation, but I decided to cancel my flight."
Agatha’s eyes stretched widely. “WHY?”
"Because I want to stay here, FOR GOOD."
"Why?!" she asked again. "There's a lot of things to see in Hawaii! You should go there! In H-Hawaii you can see Whales, can have dinner cruises, helicopter tours, parasailing, snorkeling, ziplining and most of all, you can enjoy sipping coconut juice under palm trees! So why won't you go! YOU SHOULD GO!"
Vincent scuffed. "It seems you know a lot about Hawaii. As if you’d been there before."
Agatha did go to Hawaii with her dad before. But she can't tell him the truth.
"Anyway, my decision is final. I won't go to Hawaii," Vincent said.
She bit her lips and cursed inside her head.
Vincent’s reason for not going is actually related to her mission. He didn't want to go because he couldn’t leave her alone with his brother. Liking her is another excuse. And the second one?
'My brother isn't as gentle as you think,' Vincent murmured the second reason to his mind.
At that exact moment, Lanceil went out of the room.
"Hey brother," Vincent called Lanceil. "You said that you'll buy dinner from the outside, right?"
Lanceil nervously glimpsed at Agatha, “I was about to. But Agatha is here. She can cook for…”
“Don’t be a mean boss. Agatha just came back from the hospital.”
Agatha looked at Vincent with lifeless eyes. She will never believe that Vincent was sincere when he said that.
“Just order food and let’s eat together like a family.”
Lanceil and Agatha frowned at Vincent’s next word. Did he just call Agatha part of their family?
“What do you think, brother?” Vincent directly asked Lanceil with a grin on his lips.
**************** *********************
At the condominium's kitchen, Lanceil, Vincent and Agatha were eating dinner together.
Lanceil ordered steak and asked someone to take it to his house. Of course, there's no restaurant that will deliver such expensive steaks to house to house. But for someone like Lanceil Grim, he can make some way to make it possible.
Agatha enjoys the steak that she missed eating. She was so tired dealing with Adam in the morning, and her ex in the evening. Sebastian also told her things about her dead father.
'Even if I feel awkward with these brothers, I must eat a lot and regain my energy,' Agatha told herself while eating.
Vincent stared at Agatha while she was eating.
At first, Vincent just wanted to protect his brother from Agatha. Yet now, it seems the table flipped down. He now wanted to protect her from Lanceil. But it is really just his reason?
Vincent took a deep breath before he shut his eyes tightly. When he opened them again, Agatha came into his view.
"Vincent," Lanceil called him abruptly.
Almost dropping the knife and fork on his hands, Vincent immediately turned to Lanceil. "O-Oh?"
"I heard that you canceled your flight to Hawaii," Lanceil brought up.
"I did."
"Why did you cancel it? You booked a huge room in Mr. Leo's hotel. You wasted a lot of money." Lanceil lifted the glass and took a sip of water.
Listening to his brother's nag, a corner of Vincent’s lips soared up.
'He seems so upset that I canceled my flight,' Vincent guessed. ‘My beastly brother probably wanted to have Agatha all by himself.’
"Since when did you care about how I spend my money?" Vincent asked him.
Agatha also grabbed a glass of water and took a sip of it.
She wanted to enjoy the food but she's afraid she'll get indigestion if she stays with the Grim brothers.
'Can I use the excuse that a maid like me feels uncomfortable eating with my boss, so I wanted to go now?' she considered choosing this excuse.
"The money that you are using is from our father," Lanceil answered.
"I see," Vincent murmured, sighing. "You're nagging at me because I am spending too much of dad's money when I am not working at all."
"It's not that," Lanceil responded, "I just wanted you to be more responsible from now on. Don't hastily make a decision then cancel it when you like it."
"Don't worry, I won't go anywhere from now on. I'll stay here."
"Really?" Lanceil asked him again as if he wanted Vincent to reconsider his decision.
Vincent nodded his head and made a circle with his index finger and thumb. "Yup."
"How did it happen? That you decided to stay here."
"It's because there's a valuable flower that I can't leave."
Hot.
Agatha frowned when she felt a hot gaze coming from her North. When she lifted her head, he saw Vincent staring at her.
She gulped the meat that she hadn’t chewed well.
"A flower?" Lanceil wondered. "What kind of flower?"
"Agatha," Vincent called her name suddenly.
