Chapter 16: Chapter 16

At Gina's party,

I haven't seen Andrew in this house in over two hours. I also don't see the girls that mentioned the party. Did they discuss the various parties? Is it possible that I invited myself to the incorrect party? What exactly did I do? I'm afraid I won't be able to stay. I looked around the house, half of them were intoxicated, and the other half were dancing like apes. Is this how it happens at a party? This place drives me insane, I should go. I was going to leave when I noticed something.

Hannah inquired, "Why are you sitting around? Go chat to people and try to socialise."

"I'm leaving home," I murmured, staring at her.

"Why?"

"It's dull here. It's also really packed."

I was about to leave when I noticed the girl from the club who talked about the party. They've arrived? So that wasn't a separate party. I found the correct one. So Andrew will also come here, right?

Hannah, "Don't leave quite yet, remain a little longer."

I turned and replied, "Okay. But I'll leave after a while."

I strolled into the house, convinced that I had arrived at the appropriate gathering. Where is Andrews? But why hadn't he arrived yet? Was he arriving late in order to make a great entrance?

Time 9.30. I don't think he'll come here anymore. When I tried to leave, Gina, the party's organiser, asked me to buy some drinks.

She handed me money and asked, "Sorry for disturbing you, but could you perhaps purchase some beverages for me? We require it for the game. Can you purchase it for me?"

"It's all right. I'll get it for you." I grabbed the money from her and exited the house.

When I got out of the home, I was taken aback by the scene outside. The road had vanished due to the heavy rain. Dad's automobile was partly submerged in water. When I went looking for my phone, I remembered giving it to Gina when I first entered the house with Hannah.

I went back into the house and saw Gina in the crowd.

"What happened?"

"I came to retrieve my phone. What happened to it?"

"It's upstairs, near the other phones. Is it okay if I bring it to you?"

"It's all right. I'll get it on my own."

I climbed the stairs to retrieve my phone. On the way, a man approached and inquired, "What's your name beautiful?"

"Amelia Scott," I replied as I stepped back.

"That's a great name! Which faculty do you belong to?"

"Western music faculty. Actually, I'm rushing to fetch my phone. Can I leave?"

"All OK, all right." He stepped back and urged his friends to leave a path for me to ascend.

I thanked him and proceeded upstairs. There were both men and women dancing to the enthusiastic music. I moved amid them and entered the room which Gina said to me. When I entered the room, it appeared neat and orderly. The room appealed to me. I noticed the table where all of the phones were stored. I instantly searched among them for my phone and grabbed it up since everyone's phone cover was like a colouring book with all the different colours, stickers, and glittering things.

There were numerous missed calls and messages from mom, dad, and Ash when I turned on the phone. Is something going on?

I called Ash back to find out why he was making calls, but I didn't receive a signal on my phone. There was a notification from a newspoint, which is an application that provides us with all of the city's local news.

When I opened it, they informed me that there was a tremendous downpour around the city. They highlighted certain areas with high water levels. When I checked, our street was listed among them. I became terrified and called mom, dad, and Ash again, but there was no service. Making calls is a waste of time. I should be able to go there on my own. I dashed down the stairs, looking for Hannah, but she was nowhere to be seen.

I walked out of the home and down the street. The water level had reached my knees. I walked through the water to the car, and after inspecting it, I believe it will not start for the time being.

When I looked at neighbouring houses, I noticed that some were closed and that others were leaking water out of their porches.

I began strolling in the water and made my way home while soaking wet. I couldn't see what was in front of me because of the heavy rain. I stood in the shade, wiped my face, and took my phone from my pocket. I tried contacting mom, dad, and Ash again, but I didn't get a signal, so I took the sim out and put it back in, making another unsuccessful call.

I slid my phone back into my pocket and resumed walking through knee-high water.

A truck passed me while I was strolling in the water, splashing water all over me and getting me drenched from head to toe. Every step I took in the water made me regret coming to the party.

I received a phone call. I ran over to a neighbouring phone booth and dialled. It was from my father. When I responded, the line was cut and the signal was lost. I tried to call the phone booth while looking at it, but I didn't have any coins with me. Sh*t!

I emerged from the phone booth and continued walking in the rain. "When are you going to stop?" I questioned the heavens. And kept strolling in the water.

It was dark when I arrived at my residence. I believe the electricity went out because there were so many people around.

"Amelia!"

I heard my father call my name.

"Dad!"

I screamed out to him and hurried over to him, but the water prevented me from running quicker.

"Are you all right?" Dad questioned as he held me.

"Yes dad. What are you doing outside the house, and where is mother?"

"She's trapped within. Ash stepped in to help her get out."

"What exactly are you saying?"

When I attempted to enter the house, my father stopped me and asked, "Where are you going?"

"Mom has gone inside. How can I sit here and do nothing?"

"Ash went to retrieve her. He will undoubtedly get her out. You wait here."

While I was fighting to get inside, Ash and mum emerged from the home. I was glad when I saw both of them leave the house.

I looked at Andrew's house while dad was chatting to mum and Ash. It appeared to be deserted.

"Did you check that house?" I asked the individuals standing next to me.

"There is no one present. They flew out of the country this morning."

Overseas? Andrew travelled abroad? Was that why Andrew didn't show up to the party?

I couldn't quit staring at Andrew's house as I was staring at Mom. This does not make me happy. Something doesn't seem right. I turned back to face the house. Fu*k!

I crept over to Andrew's house and walked on the porch with water on my waist. What's the deal with all this water up here?

I walked up to the house and knocked on the door. Why am I such a moron? I banged on the door like an idiot after learning they had departed for overseas. Who do you think will open right now?

I wandered around the home looking for a window. I recall there being a window in the centre of the house. Ah! I discovered it! It's right here. I attempted to open the window, but it was apparently locked from the inside. So I peered through the glass and peered inside. I couldn't see anyone inside, but the home was filled with water. Furniture was floating around, and utensils were floating on the surface of the water. What exactly happened here? What is the source of the water? While I was gazing at the things floating within, I noticed something floating on the water as well. What exactly is it? I rubbed my eyes and looked once more. My eyes almost sprang out as I looked up after realising what it was.

What the f*ck???

Andrew here! Why is he floating like that? What became of him?

When I turned to call for assistance, they appeared to be preoccupied with saving others. How can I get into the house? I went to the front door and tried to open it, but it was locked. Perhaps it became trapped due to the water. I returned to the window and attempted to open it again, but I couldn't. I'm going insane.

I looked about and discovered garden implements floating in the water as well. But all I could see were pitchforks, buckets, and shovels... I took the shovel and smacked it against the window, but it didn't break. I walked around in the water in search of more sharp tools. I discovered the axe! I seized the axe and smashed it against the window. I dropped the axe and jumped into the home via the broken window after many hits. While falling into the water, the broken glass fragments scratched my hands and arms.

I rose up, moved over to Andrew, grabbed him, and called his name.

"Andrew!... Andrew!... Wake up !" I shook him to rouse him up, but he didn't answer. "What's keeping you from waking up?"

For a brief minute, I was terrified and placed my head on his chest to listen to his heartbeat. When I heard his heartbeat, I breathed a sigh of relief. Unknowingly, a tear rolled down my face as I heard his heartbeat.

"Why are you scaring me like this?" I slapped him.

When I entered the house, the water level was up to my waistline, but it had risen to my bustline. Why does the water level keep rising? Where does it come from?

How can I accompany him in his search? Okay, I ripped my shirt and tied his hands to a neighbouring piece of furniture.

"Stay put. I'll go investigate the source of the water."

I strolled in the water and searched everywhere for the source, but I couldn't find it. I proceeded towards an open door, but it was difficult to move because the water flow was strong. I believe the water is coming from that location. I forced myself to walk against the current and stare through it. I took a deep breath and dove into the water, peering through the door. There were steps leading somewhere. I believe it's the basement, which was completely inundated under water. If the water level continues to rise, the house will soon be submerged. There is no other option than to swim through it.

I got out of the water and took a deep breath. I have to take action. I looked at Andrew, took a deep breath, and dove back into the water. I swam down the stairs and into the basement. It had been completely submerged in water. I need to identify the source of the water right away.

While I was exploring the area, I discovered the source of the bubbles. I swam near it and discovered that the pipe was broken. I attempted to repair it but was unable. There must be another option. I looked about and discovered the basement windows. The water will run out of the basement if I smash this window. Yes! This is the method for removing the water from the basement. I looked about for something sharp to smash the window with. In the water, I discovered a steel rod. I tried to break the window with the steel rod, but I couldn't. Why is it so difficult to break the glass in this house? With the passage of time, I found it increasingly difficult to hold my breath. I should finish this immediately.

I began slamming the window harder and harder. It finally began to break somewhat.

Yes! If I strike it harder this time, it will undoubtedly break. I tried to hit the glass window with force, but I couldn't because of the water. I couldn't breathe, and I shouldn't give up now. We'd both be immersed in the water if I hadn't broken this glass. This is something I can handle. I must save him. I grabbed the rod and slammed it against the window. The window shattered, and water began to pour out. The water flowed faster and threw me against the wall. While the water was flowing through the window, I clung onto the rack. Because of the current, I noticed Andrew floating down the river coming to the basement. I let go of the rack and grabbed him before he was struck by something. As the water flowed in front of us, I tore another piece of my shirt and knotted it around both of our hands.

Finally, the basement was cleared out. I can reach for the floor. I noticed Andrew's head was bleeding. how did you get hurt? I cleaned the blood away and discovered a cut. I sighed with relief because it didn't appear to be deep.

I couldn't feel a pulse when I tried to remove the fabric that I had knotted around both of our hands. I gave Andrew basic first aid, removed his damp garments, and positioned my ear near to his lips to check his breathing. I had no sensation on my cheeks. I checked to see whether Andrew's chest was moving, it wasn't.

I wiped my tears away and began performing CPR. I placed my heel on the centre of his chest and began compressions, but he was still not breathing.

I lost control of my emotions and burst into tears. I shook him and inquired, "What are you doing to me? Wake up… Andrew! Please get up! ... Andrew!" I sobbed as I shook him.

Is it possible that the water got into his lungs?

I wiped my tears away as I inclined his head and lifted his chin. I took a breath and pinched Andrew's nose. Please get up. I made an airtight seal around Andrew's mouth with mine and took two one-second breaths while watching his chest rise. I did 30 chest compressions after taking two breaths. Andrew did not awaken. I went through the process again, getting fatigued and disoriented from attempting to wake him up. I took a deep breath and resumed CPR, which made me dizzy. "Please wake up..." I whispered as I collapsed on his chest.

Coughing was heard. Andrew here! I stood up and shook him while yelling his name.

"Amelia?" he asked as he coughed up water.

"Andrew."

I couldn't hold up anymore after seeing him wake up, so I fainted.
