Chapter 11: Chapter 11
Hey all, another glossary for those who want to know more about the world of Atmaria. The third actual chapter will be posted, so don't worry there will be a chappy for all you horny fucks :)
(P.S: Siris will be getting a friend here in the near future, so look forward to it!)
Anyway, onto the glossary!
Skill Tomes: Books rarely looted from magical creatures or dungeons. Will contain either a specific skill or a random skill of a certain type.
Formican: A race of insectile humanoids with ant-like bodies. Four arms, two plantigrade legs, and six compound eyes. Are often born with a specific purpose in mind, and are beholden to their Queen, though not quite a hive-mind.
Steelwater Bay: The site of one of the most devastating magical disasters in recent history. Was a thriving trading hub before being overrun by the revenant formican hive.
Collegium of Libram: A massive organization based on the study and preservation of all knowledge. Boasts the most prestigious magical academy on the continent of Atlan. Also has one of the most powerful militaries in the world, however they are staunchly neutral in any external conflict.
Atlan: Largest continent on Atmaria, home to several large nations. Shaped roughly like Pangea once was.
Capt. Johan Saltfiend: Once an infamous pirate captain, has since retired after losing his leg to a soulfin barracuda. Now works as a naval mercenary and transport, on contract with the Collegium.
Revenant: A creature that has died, but has been bound to their body through a specific object, often an enchanted nail or weapon. In the case of hive creatures, the Queen or King of the hive would be the only one with the binding object. Claws and fangs inflict magical necrosis at even the slightest touch. Can be slain through sufficient physical trauma or destruction of the bound object.
Mana Crystal: A type of gemstone that forms when incredibly high concentrations of mana saturate mundane stone. The rıghtful source is 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹✦𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖✦𝓷𝓮𝓽
Mage Quartz: A variant of mana crystals, instead formed of pure mana taking physical form.
Rarity: Rarities are the approximate power or value of an object according to the system. Ranks go from: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Heroic, Divine. Drawbacks on items can reduce the rarity.
Item Type: What type of an item it is. Weapons will be classified on their primary damage type, with casting focuses having an extra tag. Materials will not have tags. Armour will be classed on what part, ex: Gloves, torso (Armour), accessory, etc.
EDIT: Stats: Stats are split into two main types. Physical stats, meaning Strength, Agility, Speed, and Vitality. Magic stats, meaning Magic, Will, Intelligence, and Mana. These have four subtypes: Power, which is how much physical or magical might is behind every related action. Control, which is how precisely you can apply that power. Speed, which is how quickly you can direct the power and how fast you can physically or mentally react to something. And endurance, which is how much fuel you have to give to exert the power. Strength and Magic are Power, Will and Agility are Control, Speed and Intelligence are, well, Speed. And Vitality and Mana are the Endurance stats. Each one also has other minor effects on a person, but none are as pronounced as their main effect. For example, Vitality also allows you to heal faster, but the effect is very minor when compared to the main effect of making you harder to injure and granting more physical stamina.
Well, that's it for this glossary! See ya soon~
