Chapter 71: Chapter 71

"What?!"

I let out a pursed smile. "Yes, Ar. I have forgotten everything that happened to me in Japan, including my marriage with Kim."

Ara clutched her heart as she looked at me, her eyes squinting in disbelief.

"How did you find it out? Why can't you remember? What happened to you?"

"Ar, save your questions later when we have all the time in the world to talk."

Ara pinched my waist. "If it were not for Mr. Yuki's invitation, I wouldn't have known."

"I'm sorry. I'm still overwhelmed and shocked, that's why I couldn't tell you yet... But please stop asking for now. We're already late for work."

Ara rolled her eyes and sighed, disappointed that I had to cut and leave her in a cliffhanger. But I had to go, not because we would be late for work, but because I would be meeting my psychiatrist.

Zed had already prepared the table for breakfast when I arrived. He was on his jeans and collared shirt, ready for work at his coffee shops.

"Eat first before shower," he said as soon as I stepped into the dining room. I knew he would be waiting for me there.

Since I didn't take anything at  Kim's house aside from a glass of milk, I got hungry at the sight of dried beef tapa and steaming rice.

"I'm already ready to take you to work today," Zed said as I was halfway through my meal.

I knew he wanted to ask if I would be driving my new car to work. But because he couldn't afford to do it, he just rephrased his statement.

"Don't bother anymore. I'll go there myself."

Silence fell between us, so I looked up to know what's wrong.

"Is there a problem?" I asked.

"Yes."

I put down my spoon and fork. "What is it?"

"You're taking my role away as your husband. It would have been my duty to drive you back and forth, but since you're driving your own car already, that responsibility is now set aside."

I heaved out a sigh. "Zed, it's alright. You're also chasing time. But, of course, it's expected of us since we're both working."

"I know."

Zed walked me to the garage later. Seeing his eyes glowed longingly at my new car, I felt uncomfortable. I always understood men's love for cars.

"How about exchanging our cars? I'll take yours to work."

"No, no. Your car is safer for pregnant women. I may borrow it during weekends or when we go out together."

Zed's thoughtfulness always moved me. He always put me and my comfort above himself.  And even if Kim was also sweet and thoughtful, there was always something in him that pulled my emotion.

"Zed, whatever is mine is also yours. So, even if it's a company-issued car, it's not only mine but ours."

Touched, Zed came forward and hugged me tightly. He then planted a kiss on my temple.

"Take care on the way, dear. If ever you need something, just tell me."

"I will.  Thank you."

Zed watched me until I disappeared from his sight. Then, to my guilt, my phone rang. It was Kim, so I turned on my speaker.

"Jakara, can you please pick me up? I'm already waiting by the gate."

"But I  just left the subdivision."

"Please."

I pulled out a deep sigh and turned around, taking a direct route to his home. He was indeed ready when I dropped by.

"Thanks for picking me up," Kim said as he buckled his seatbelt.

"You're welcome for now, but I can't do it every day. What if Zed finds out?"

"And what about me, Jakara?"

I knew this talk would only lead to an argument, so I chose to shut my mouth up. He also stayed silent. If I am already undergoing this trouble now that Zed hadn't known about us yet, how much more if he would?

When we arrived at Kim Yuan's, I pulled over at the entrance. He turned to me with a questioning look.

"Kim, please go ahead. I forgot to buy something."

"What is it? Turn around; I'll go with you."

"No. It's a feminine thing. I won't be comfortable if you're there."

"Okay,"  he said reluctantly but pulled me out for a deep kiss.

"Go now," I said after he released me,  still panting from the long kiss.

He gave me one last look, then exited the car. I breathe deeply in relief. Little did he know that I took another route and went to see my psychiatrist.

Seeing the signage at the physician's door almost made me step back and go home. My heartbeats hammered loudly, tempting me to withdraw. But half the part of me kept pushing me forward.

"You want to retrieve your memories, Yen, so be brave," I told myself a lot of times. And while I was still debating with myself, the doctor's secretary came out.

"Miss Yen Ramos?" she asked, smiling.

"Yes," I answered, my hands clenching at my side.

"Please come in. The doctor is already waiting for you."

I looked at my watch. It's still 9:00 a.m., and my appointment was still at 9:30.

"You're not late," she said, noticing my eyes on my watch, "but the doctor came earlier than you. And besides, you're the only client scheduled for today."

I felt my knees shaking as I entered the clinic. But my fears soon dissipated when the doctor smiled at me. She was already in her fifties, but her fair and glowing skin made her look younger than her age.

"Good morning, Miss Yen Ramos."

"Good morning, doc," I said, smiling, but my lips were already quivering.

"What prompts you to come here today?"

I smiled before I looked into her eyes.

"I saw your name in my admission record, doc, so I presume you could help me in retrieving my memories."

"Admission record? And do you mean to say that you have forgotten some events in your life?"

"Yes, doc."

"How did you find it out?

All of a sudden, I didn't know where to start. Beads of sweat rolled at my temples, and my heartbeats were so loud that they almost choked me.

"Miss Ramos?"

"It's like this, doc. I went to Japan and got surprised that almost everyone recognized me as Jakara Blue William…"
