Chapter 56: Chapter 56

I couldn’t believe those things Josh Herra said happened to me. I forgot my current situation for a moment, and it felt like I was listening to a radio drama series.

“What happened next, Josh Herra?”

Before Josh could answer, a loud siren pierced into my ear. Josh fumbled immediately on my handcuff and released me.

“Don’t ever make things hard for me because I always have ways,” Josh said as he glanced at the police car blocking our way. Because his driver didn’t even try to escape, so I guess Josh used this incident as just a threat.

Josh rolled out the window when a policeman stood by the passenger’s door.

“Sir, what’s the problem?” Josh asked in a poker face that I  clenched my hands to hold back my urge to slap him.

“We received a call that you’re taking a woman with you by force.”

Josh scoffed and moved his gaze between me and the police.

“Yes,  I am with Miss Jakara, but I'm giving her a ride back to the hotel where she stayed. Is there a problem with that?”

The police furrowed his brows and looked at me.

“Is it true, Miss Jakara?” I almost threw up when I heard how the police officer adapted to my new name.

Afraid of Josh’s threat, I nodded, but I didn’t say a word.

“You heard her, sir, so can we go now?” Josh said in an innocent face, and I felt my blood rushing to my temple.

The police officer looked at me again, and in that gaze, I knew that he sensed Josh’s act of pretense.

“Miss Jakara, will you go with him, or will you go with us?”

“She will go with me,” Kim’s cold and threatening voice floated from the side of the car. I got both surprised and flattered that he was indeed monitoring me.

He then opened the door and extended his hand to me, throwing Josh a murderous glare. I held his hand and allowed him to help me step out of the car.

“Mr. Herra, you may be lucky tonight, but I can't promise next time.”

“I’m just kind to her. What causes your feather to ruffle this time?”

“Do you think you can fool me?”

Josh let out a burst of devilish laughter. “May the best man win, Mr. Mori. Remember, I am not only your only rival but her husband as well."

Kim slammed the car’s door shut and kicked it before he wrapped an arm around my shoulders. And hen, his glare turned more lethal, and I knew it was because of Josh's mention of Zed. Ever since he disclosed indirectly that I am Jakara, he started to show a sense of possessiveness over me. Just as how he calmly placed a hand on my shoulders like I was still his wife.

“Are you alright? Did he hurt you? Or attempted to t-touch you?" He emphasized the word 'touch.'

I could already see how Kim fumes in anger, so I didn't tell him the truth. However, the trembling of my body showed otherwise. He gritted his teeth, and his sharp gaze was enough to kill Josh.

"Why did you escape? Now that Josh knows that you are here in Japan, there's no longer a safe place for you here. So, don't go alone anywhere."

"I want to know the truth," my voice started to crack.

He heaved out a deep sigh and looked at me with glints of worries in his eyes. He didn't answer but instead opened the door of his car and ushered me in. He then closed it and walked towards the police car. I watched him waving a hand at them before he walked back towards us.

I noticed that Vic was watching me through the rearview mirror. When our eyes finally locked, he immediately greeted me.

"Hello, Miss Yen. So sorry to know that Josh troubled you again.”

Vic indeed warned me about Josh Herra, but how would I know that it would turn out this way? Even if he confessed something about my past, I couldn’t take it as the truth since I couldn’t remember it myself.

“Again? Do you mean this is the second time Josh has scared the wits out of me?”

Vic nodded and was about to talk further, but Kim had come back already.

“Vic, why are the police here? How did you find it out?”

“No need to ask. I already anticipated his moves,” Kim replied, throwing me an angry look,

“What did he do to me last time?”

Kim sighed and looked at me, but this time his gaze became affectionate.

“Don’t force your mind to remember the past. Let it unfold naturally. You will eventually remember everything.”

Chills ran down my spine, and my body trembled uncontrollably as I confirmed that I indeed lost my memory. My airways started to congest as I stifled an urge to cry. To relieve myself from the choking sensation, I wailed.

Kim scooped me in his arms as I continued to cry. I no longer knew how long because I got so exhausted and eventually fell asleep. When I woke up later, we were already at the parking area of the Royal Park Hotel.

We stepped out of the car silently and went upstairs. I didn’t stop Kim from entering my room since all I wanted at that moment was to talk to him.

“Now, tell me,” I said after I settled on the couch. He also sat beside me.

“I met you back then as Jakara Blue Williams during the party Mr. Williams held in one of the hotels in Tokyo. It was his birthday, and at that time, he introduced you as his daughter and the newly appointed vice-president of his company.”

“We became lovers and even got married after a few months of the relationship. We argued back then because I got jealous of Josh, who still pursued you even if we were married already. You got mad and went out to a club with a friend.”

“You got drunk. Your friend convinced you to dance in just a pair of bikinis inside a room. Perhaps you thought it was just for fun. You didn’t know that Josh was watching you.”

“Is it true that Josh bought me?” I asked with quivering lips, recalling what Josh had confessed.”

“Maybe.”

“What happened next?”

“Josh almost succeeded in taking advantage of you, but I arrived in time. I almost killed Josh in my anger. Unfortunately, I got so absorbed in punching him that I didn’t stop you when you ran away. And that was the last time I saw you.”
