Chapter 21: Chapter 21
Before I raised my head to look at him again, he already turned around to leave. However, he hollered above his shoulder.
“Good night, again.” The door then clicked as it locked.
I put on the scrub suit right away and stood before the huge mirror. I couldn’t help admiring Kim’s right choice for my size. The blue, floral top and its navy-colored pants looked good on my fair skin. It may not have a tight-hugging cut, but it still emphasized my curves.
I tried to lie down on the bed and closed my eyes. But no matter how tight I shut my eyelids, I couldn’t take my thoughts away from Maezy and Tim. I could never promise to keep silent on this matter, but I also had to consider that Ara was pregnant. I was too scared she wouldn't be able to handle her grief.
How could Maezy do this to Kim and her friend? What else did she want? Money? Looks? Fame? Kim had it all.
Feeling suffocated by these thoughts, I went out to the balcony across my room. I needed to breathe fresh air. And maybe, a beautiful sea view could calm the turmoil deep inside me.
To my surprise, Kim’s back greeted my eyes. He was standing by the railings, looking far into the distance. The glass of wine in his hand dispelled my first impression of him. I thought he possessed amazing temperance when dealing with her cheating wife, but seeing how desolate he looked this time, I realized that he was a human after all—hurt and sad.
“Kim? Why are you here?”
He turned his head slightly at me, then asked, “I should be the one asking you that. Why are you still not asleep?”
“I feel bad. I need fresh air.”
Silence followed. And since I didn’t want to disturb him, I just sat in one of the couches by the balcony. I let my thoughts wander off while looking at the moonlit sky, casting its silver hues across the sprawling landscape and the sea beyond.
“Where do you think I fail?” Kim’s chilling voice broke into my train of thoughts.
I did not answer him. He spun around and looked at me with his sorrowful eyes.
“Money? I give her more than enough. I even supported Jaykee and transferred him to the most expensive school in the city. I bought her a house and a car—all under her name. She can start a business if she wants. And I even asked her to be my assistant so that she can be with me every day.”
I didn’t know what to say, so I just allowed him to vent out. The man with great self-control that I watched with admiration a few hours ago was already breaking in front of me.
“She doesn’t have to worry about bills. She can go out with her friends and spend as she wishes. I never restrict her with anything. She’s as carefree as a dove.”
The pain Kim poured out pierced into my heart. And seeing how much he suffered, I couldn’t imagine how Maezy would take her grief.
“She could never bring an issue for having no time for her. I bring her to wherever I travel and to every social function I attend.”
He drew out a deep sigh then sat across from me. A coffee table separated us.
“What do you think, Yen? You are already married and also a woman like her. Perhaps, there are things I could not understand in a woman.”
Recalling what he said a few minutes ago, he indicated that he had accepted Jaykee as his own. Maezy’s hesitation could come from his unacceptance that she already has a child from another man.
“Kim, could it be about Jaykee? Perhaps, she’s afraid that you haven’t truly accepted the child.”
“Oh, come on. I love children. And you know what, I don’t even care if she already has a child from another man.”
It was my turn to pull out a heavy sigh. Then, an idea came into my mind, and I knew my eyes sparked as I looked at him.
“What is it?” he asked.
“One author says in her book to ‘sexually fulfill your mate.’ Have you met this aspect?”
I suddenly felt uncomfortable and regretted what I said. It’s a delicate subject and shouldn’t be discussed between a man and a woman outside marriage.
“My goodness, Yen. I’m so good at it. Believe me.”
I felt my face heating up. This man never had the slightest idea that he was the one who gave me that most sensual petting I ever had experienced, even if I am already married.
“She could never tell me that she fakes an orgasm. I know how to hold and do it sensually.”
His eyes flickered in anger and contempt, and I hurriedly looked down. I couldn’t explain why but at that moment, I got turned on.
“How about you?”
My eyes flew wide as he threw back the question.
“I mean, what are those commons issues that make Zed and you fight over?”
“We just got married, so we have no conflicts yet.”
“What? Even petty arguments?” I felt like melting when he looked at me with an amused smile on his lips.
“None, really. Even during those seven years of relationship with him.”
His eyes got wider. “Is he a saint, Yen? Since you’re apparently not short with money, time, and all those I mentioned a while ago, how about sex?”
I blushed deeper, and I smiled awkwardly. “I’m not comfortable talking about it, Kim. Sorry.”
He laughed softly, but he nodded. “Okay. Last question: were you a virgin on your first night?”
I felt the heat spreading to my earlobes, but since I didn’t want him to think I was not professional in handling the question, I forced myself to reply. After all, he was there when I did a lecture during the Marriage Encounter Seminar.
“Technical virgin.”
“Oh, dear, what do you mean by that?”
“Someone who has been touched by a partner, except for…you know what I mean.” I could not speak out the words, "vaginal penetration."
“Penetration?”
How I wish I could hide in a hole! What if he imagined that moment he had with me in his mind? Having no choice, I swallowed hard and nodded.
