Chapter 18: Chapter 18
The pounding in my ear got louder. My mouth hung open as I gazed at him, but my mind was quick in suggesting that I shouldn't be transparent. He might take advantage of my weakness if he knows about my infatuation for him before. I shouldn't feel this way; I'm already a married woman.
"I'm sorry, K-Kim. I don't get it," I gave out a weak smile and gathered all my courage to look at him.
"Really, Yen? You haven't remembered anything that night?"
"What do you mean?" I hoped I succeeded in my pretension.
"That moment when..." He looked at me with a dropped expression, probably, in disbelief.
I shook my head slowly, but maybe I was not successful in hiding my reaction. "I was drunk that night, Kim. I remembered you carried me to my room, but I can't remember anything after that."
He chuckled and stared at me for a while before pulling on the road again. "I wish you did."
I stayed silent after that, but I noticed his stolen glances at me. Perhaps, he was wondering why I didn't ask further.
"You don't want to ask about it?"
I laughed softly. "No, Kim. I'm afraid I'm doing something shameful like people always do."
"Not at all. I love every moment of it. It's something unforgettable." Kim laughed and I shrank in my seat.
"No!" I felt heat surging to my temples as that scene replayed in my mind. "Please don't start talking. I don't want to know."
"You're starting to imagine what we did?" Kim chuckled, and the skin on my ears tightened.
"I threw up, and you cleaned my mess? Oh, my goodness!" I shrieked and covered my face with my two hands. Little did Kim know that I saw him at the back of my mind, making out with me.
Kim also laughed and shook his head, but he kept his mouth shut. I was starting to get awkward already. To avoid it, I shifted the topic.
"By the way, you must be excited to see Mazy already. You can't wait to go after her."
"Yes, I can't wait."
"So sweet of you."
"You'll see."
Kim brought up another company topic, and I found myself drowning in my admiration for him. He spoke fluently, and there was brilliance in everything he pointed out. He was still so young, but he had already accomplished so much.
"How are you able to manage all of that? Aside from Kim Yuan, you also have other businesses like the Jakara."
Jakara Blue...I closed my eyes and whispered a wish in my mind.
"That's why I need excellent and competitive individuals like you to do the work for me."
"Kim, I don't think I can accept your offer. I don't have enough experience." I suddenly saw how inefficient I was while listening to him. The way he elaborated everything about his business was beyond my grasp.
"You will learn everything. All you need is to decide and take the first step."
The next thing I knew was that we were already entering a beach resort. Before Kim turned to the parking area, I had already spotted a familiar car plate number.
"It's Maezy's car!" I exclaimed, then pointed it to Kim.
"Oh, there. Let's park beside it."
Kim bent his body forward to see if there were vacant spaces nearby. Then, we drove slowly forward and parked beside Maezy's car. There were only a few cars, and Maezy's car was close to the fence. So, on its other side, it was the fence; and on the other side was us. We were barely a meter away from it.
I started to unbuckle my seatbelt, but Kim reached out to me and held my arm.
"Don't go out yet. We're here on a mission."
I furrowed my brows as I looked at him, silently demanding further explanation. He didn't answer but pulled out his phone from the holder. After a while, somebody spoke from the other line.
"Sir, she's heading to the parking area."
"Got it." He replaced his phone on the holder then leaned back on his chair. He looked at me and gave out a pursed smile.
"Looks like we are lucky today."
Before I could answer, I saw Maezy coming out with Tim from a building across from us.
"Maezy is really sweet. She's here to greet you."
"Apparently, not. She doesn't know I'm coming soon. She's expecting I'll arrive at night."
I stared at him, and right then, I understood what he meant when he said he was on a mission. My heartbeats raced as I recalled that night when I saw Maezy and Tim making out inside the car.
Kim crossed his arms and leaned on the backrest, staring at the distance. He didn't turn his head when Maezy and Tim arrived, but I knew he watched them through his side vision. Tim opened the door for Maezy before he walked to the driver's side.
As soon as they closed the door, I saw Maezy grabbing Tim's head for a kiss. My eyes got wide in horror. I looked at Kim then back to Maezy and Tim. I noticed that Tim responded aggressively because his hands were already squeezing Maezy's huge cups.
How could they ignore their surroundings? Aren't they thinking that somebody might see them?
I glanced at Kim, who happened to also look at me. I felt my heart skipping a beat.
"This car's glass is heavily tinted. They can't see us like how we see them." He smiled, but I saw bitterness behind it.
I reached out for his upper arm and held it. I couldn't think of another way to comfort him.
"I'm sorry, Kim."
"Are you going to tell your best friend about this?"
I pulled out a deep sigh before I replied. "I don't know how to break it to her. She's pregnant."
"Yeah, it's not good timing."
Then, Kim stared at me longer. "Do you know about this already?"
"Yes."
"When?" he asked, then turned his head back to the cheating couple. Tim's hands were already under Maezy's blouse.
"I saw them making out inside the car last night."
Kim gazed back at me, but he only smirked.
"Kim, what is your plan?" I got curious. I was expecting him to storm out of the car and punch Tim, but he did not. He stayed composed instead.
"More evidence."
