"You're seeking more trouble, Zed. Do you think James will give you peace?"

I am already shaking in anger. Zed is just too stubborn. Just where does this man get his courage from?

If he relies on his previous investigation team, I don't believe they're more powerful than the assassin's group. They have been delving into James' case for several years already. They would have solved the case long ago if they were that good.

"Let him do what he wants." Zed doesn't look like he is kidding. His eyes are on the road, but his sharp gaze reflects his determination.

Silence envelopes inside the car, giving me more time to look left and right, scared that a convoy of vehicles will suddenly overtake and block our way. I am fond of watching suspense movies, and finally, I have become the leading character of my life's drama.

My phone suddenly vibrates, and I immediately presume it comes from a bomb planted under my seat. I scream, and Zed suddenly pulls to the side.

"What's wrong?" Zed asks, his eyes darting with worry and fear.

I heave out a sigh, realizing that it's only my phone. "Nothing."

"You scared me. What's wrong?"

"I thought the vibrating sound came from a bomb hidden under our seat."

Zed smiles but doesn't say anything. Instead, he just turns the steering wheel, maneuvering the car into the road again.

Placing the phone in the holder, I turn the speaker on so that Zed can hear. I see that it's Yen, so I presume she will also try to persuade Zed into leaving the country.

"Ar, where are you? Are you with Zed?"

"Yes."

"I just sent you some videos. Kim's men recorded those. Please open them now!"

I open the video as Yen has requested and see a black car coming out of the prison. Then, in another video, a man in uniform comes out of the car and climbs into the waiting plane.

"James has successfully escaped. Where are they heading now?" So, the man in jail guard's uniform might be James, pretending he's one of the guards.

"Kim's men lost them. Perhaps, they boarded on another plane and took another route."

"Most likely," Zed speaks so calmly that I want to slap him. My knees are already clapping against each other, and my loud heartbeats are making me deaf. But he still looks like a paragon of calmness and serenity.

"Zed, please listen! Go to Kim Yuan right now. Kim's men are taking you away," Yen says, her voice is begging already. I have been updating her about Zed and his stubbornness.

"Thank you, Yen. But I can't trust your husband as well. I don't want to make things more difficult for you. Because no matter how we explain it to him that it's over between us, he just won't believe us. So, stay out of this as much as possible. I am not completely helpless."

Suddenly, Yen changes the camera's focus, and Kim's face greets us. My heart seems to stop beating abruptly. He has heard everything Zed had said.

"Kim is listening. Remember, you're not only the object of James' revenge but also him."

Zed pulls out a deep sigh and flashes an awkward smile. "I'm sorry, Mr. Mori. But I'm not taking back my words."

To my surprise, Kim chuckles. "I understand, Mr. Ramos. I admit I was angry and jealous, but I'm not that heartless. I did something worse before."

I can't almost hold myself from laughing. Kim is right! He had sex with Yen multiple times before Yen and Zed's marriage got annulled. It's only right for him to let go of his wife's kissing issue with Zed. It's just a kiss anyway.

Zed just nods and glances and the screen. "Thank you, Mr. Mori. Take care as well."

"Mr. Ramos, James is my cousin. He knows what I can also do if he touches me. The only thing he can do against me is to see me down. That's why he tries to pirate Dennis because he knows he's the mind behind my company's breakthroughs."

I furrow my brows. So, does it mean that Kim and Dennis have become enemies? Because the latter betrayed him? Wow, everything gets crazier!

"Accusing him of rape alone can't harm James enough, but your involvement with the people who want to topple him down is his huge thorn. Not to mention your engagement with Ella. Because she's the only woman he gets really serious with."

Zed's eyes sparkle as rays of understanding dawn on him. "Thanks for the information, Mr. Mori."

"Go to the company right now. A plane is waiting for you there. I'll let him take you somewhere James doesn't know of."

"Zed, just please listen. I'd be guilty if something happens to you," Yen coaxes him, and Zed's expression softens. I heave a sigh of relief.

"Thank you, Yen, Mr. Mori. I'll consider your offer."

When Yen ends the call, I look at Zed. He also looks back at me. Then, with that tender look he gives me, he suddenly turns around and heads in Kim Yuan's direction.

I take a deep breath and exhale it slowly, relieved that Zed has finally accepted Kim's offer. Then, I close my eyes to completely calm myself. I have been shaking for a long time now, and I feel I'm going crazy if this jumpy feeling continues.

"Ella, you should stay with Yen. It's safer there." I open my eyes, and I see that we are already at the entrance of Kim Yuan.

"How about you? Why are you not turning the engine off?"

"I'm going to save Ella. Don't worry, Ar, I have my men backing me up. You need to stay away from me,  Matthew and Alex are waiting for you. You know how dangerous my situation is."

I shake my head vigorously. "No, Zed. Unless you also come down and board the plane Kim has prepared for you, I won't step down from this car."

Zed scoffs. "Don’t be silly. Kim and James are not too different from each other. He only says that because of Yen.”

I’m starting to get confused. Thinking that neither Ella nor Kim speaks truthfully, I have no choice but to trust Zed. His men are surely not biased because they have no personal involvement with Zed.

Zed turns around when I stubbornly refuse to get out of the car. Then, to keep Yen from contacting me, I turn off my phone.

But just when we get a few kilometers away from Kim Yuan’s, a convoy of cars overtakes and blocks the road. I scream and scan the faces of the man inside the first car. To my horror, it’s Kim.

This man. How can he afford to cheat on Yen and trick Zed?
