Chapter 116: Chapter 116
JUNE
My left cheek stung from the slap I just got. I wanted so badly to rub on it, but it was impossible. Secured to the armchair, I couldn't even move my hands.
“You don't seem to have learned your lessons, June. Well… that's wonderful. I will gladly do everything over again until I get what I want!”
“Which is?”
“How did it feel losing your baby?” She smirked, mouth curling up at the sides like a clown. “Do you perhaps wish to go through it once more?”
“What? My baby?” I choked. “You were… You did… But…”
“I was the one that found you, right?” She laughed, walking back to the chair. She sat on it and faced me once more. “It was fun playing with you and Kristen. Acting like a good Samaritan was worth it. If you assume you will have my man and live contentedly, you've got something coming for you!”
“My baby….” I mumbled as tears freely ran down my cheeks. “You… You were the one who sent her?” I raised my face to look at the woman in front of me.
“And not only that. I was the one who leaked your photos to the media. I wanted to shake Kristen a little, so he would break up with you. Who would have thought that a slut like you would get pregnant? I had to arrange everything within an hour.” She laughed once more, looking pleased.
My mouth and hands shook as I recalled the pain I went through on the day I was attacked in the restroom. To think that someone close to Kristen did this was more than I could take in at once.
“Why?” I muttered, staring at her like I was looking at the devil himself.
“Why? You've got to be kidding me! I had to do everything to get Kristen back! You don't deserve him at all! He deserves a woman who understands him, and can help him achieve everything he has ever desired! I'm the right one for him. Not a slut that was willing to fuck a man who was supposed to be her uncle!”
“At least I'm better than you, bitch!” I yelled at her, agitated and sad.
“You dare call me a bitch?” She chuckled. “Well, you can go ahead and call me whatever you want. I don't care. All that matters is I've got Kristen.”
“No, you've not. He will come to find me. He always does!” I tried to comfort myself with this, knowing Kristen would come for me should he discover that I'd gone missing.
“By then, you will be dead, my love,” she said with a smile. “And let's not forget, Mark is there to prevent him from locating you. We will send you back in a coffin, of course.” She laughed again, her chest shaking and face contorting into an ugly thing.
“Mark?” I froze. “What has he got to do with all this?”
“Oh, darling. What a pity it is for you. The best friend who has always been there for you is my accomplice. Ever wondered how those thugs got to know your location?”
“Mark? No, that's not true! Mark will never betray me!” He promised never to hurt me. Mark never breaks his promise. She's just lying!
“Oh, love. Seems like you are still as delusional as ever. The old Mark wouldn't mislead you, but the current one has. And that's because you were too blind to see his love!”
As much as I wanted to deny that, I know it's true. I took a deep breath, sniffing to keep the tears at bay. “He hurt my baby because of that? He was willing to watch me get beaten and disgraced by the public just to act like a saviour when he was all along planning this?”
My chest felt tight. Even the tears stopped. I have never felt as hurt as I was at the moment. Mark has always been someone I considered as more than a friend. Aside from Kristen, he was the only one I trusted with my life. But he didn't think twice before he betrayed me.
“No, you seem to have gotten it all wrong.” She flipped her hair back, still smiling like one who had won a battle. “Dija was the first I used. It's always good to sow a fruit in women like her. She helped me get all the shareholders to withdraw their shares, and buy the internet for a month, to keep your story trending. I got rid of her after that…” She laughed. “As for your baby, it was a last-minute plan. I was lucky enough to find a woman to do the job when Kristen told me you were pregnant. As for Mark, he only helped me with your location on the day you went to the park. And today. You see, he wouldn't have agreed to this had it not been for the second proposal and your pregnant state.”
“… So, you did all these?”
My hunch about someone close to us pulling the strings was right. All along, she acted like an exemplary employee while she was silently killing us.
“Nothing of this sort would have happened if you kept your legs closed or left the country like I advised you to do! But you had to disobey me!” She yelled like a psycho.
“Because you are a crazy woman. Why else will I leave my fiancé —”
“He not yours!” She rose from the chair and advanced towards me, looking as murderous as hell. She was like a vengeful witch, seeking the souls of innocent women to make her young.
She stopped in front of me and leaned down. This time, she wrapped her right palm around my neck and pressed hard.
“Stop!” I gasped in pain. “Stop, you are hurting me!”
I struggled, but the chains kept me in place. It was difficult for me to move, and she knew it.
She smiled, widening her mouth. “After I kill you here today, Kristen will be mine!” She growled, tightening her hold. “I will kill —”
The door to the room suddenly opened, cutting off her words and startling her.
