Chapter 716: Chapter 716

Meilin stood in front of the mirror, looking at her complete disguise with joy and surprise. Then she added “I look like a PrePure!”, echoing the same thought Mira had.

Put simply, the overall design of the disguise was very reminiscent of the heroines from an anime series aimed at young girls, which had also become really popular amongst adults. And it even looked like the powered up form introduced halfway through the series.

(I get it now…it’s all because of him.)

They were supposed to make a disguise, not a whole transformation. But now a new PrePure had just been born out of nowhere, and Mira had a pretty good idea of who was responsible for that.

The main suspect was Lastrada. Being a big fan of superheroes and justice, each Sunday morning was a sacred time for him, as TV series featuring them would be broadcast at that time.

PrePure was also a series filled with justice and broadcasted at that time. So Lastrada became a fan of them as well.

Then when the plan of making a disguise for Meilin came up, Solomon decided to bring in Lastrada as a consultant to ensure it would be a success, since he already had experience with disguises.

In the end, he influenced Lily and the maids to create the disguise for his ideal heroine.

A PrePure-like Magical Girl was the polar opposite to the martial arts obsessed girl Meilin was known as, and the hair color change on top of that completed the PrePure look. The path there might have been twisted, but the results were undeniable.

“Since it’s come to this, why don’t you try striking a few poses too?”

When Mira suggested that, Meilin immediately said “That sounds fun!” and began trying out various poses. Growing up, she had also been a big PrePure fan, so she still had plenty of poses and even catchphrases perfectly memorized.

Watching that, Mira’s thoughts went to the tournament again, and how the public would react to her.

There was no way of concealing Meilin’s strength in the tournament, and the audience would take note of that. She would still stand out a lot as a PrePure, a mysterious heroine of justice, but all of that attention would actually distract from her identity as a Wiseman.

There was not a single person who would ever associate PrePure with Meilin. Mira herself noticed that, as she had to constantly remind herself that it really was Meilin standing in front of the mirror.

“Umm…What is PrePure?”

Eventually Vanessa asked that, thoroughly puzzled by Meilin’s catchphrases and poses. All Mira could say in response was “PrePure is a legendary warrior of another land.”

Mira also happened to know a thing or two about PrePure, but that was because she had spent a lot of time playing with her younger sister, and also watched TV with her.

After getting over the surprise of having turned into a PrePure, which Meilin liked quite a lot, she began testing her new outfit’s mobility.

Then again, she was one of the Nine Wisemen, so even her practice movements were sharp and precise, making quick swishing sounds as her limbs cut through the air one after another.

“It doesn’t get in the way at all! It’s perfect!”

She announced her opinion after one round of practice movements. The handiwork of Lily and the maids had received the seal of approval from Meilin as well.

Mira nodded with satisfaction seeing how happy Meilin was, and a moment later was startled by a knock on the door.

“Mira, Meimei, would you like to have dinner with us?”

It was Henry’s voice. His invitation was rather straightforward, but there was a strange tumult behind him, so someone else had to be with him.

“I’m always down for dinner!”

Meilin was the first one to reply, instantly opening the door after hearing the word dinner, revealing Henry standing there together with all of his siblings.

At the same time the children shouted “Now!” and brought out wooden swords to swing at Meilin. It seemed like they also had that common challenge of pupils trying to land at least one hit on their master.

But their swings never completed, as the children retreated in shock and confusion, their eyes locked on Meilin…the Legendary Warrior PrePure.

“Huh…? Where’s Meimei?”

It was all because of the disguise. It was so perfect that no one realized it was her.

In response, Meilin just struck each of their heads with a hand chop, giggling as she said “You still need to train more.”

“Huhhh?! You’re Meimei?!”

The children were still struggling to understand that. Her voice and actions were the same as the Meimei they knew, but she looked completely different. And Meilin decided to stand proud as she spoke to them.

“Meimei is just my alter ego to move in this world. I’m actually the Legendary Warrior PrePure!”

While it was a bit strange for a superhero to reveal their identity so openly, at least Meilin had really gotten into character with her disguise. The children, still of a tender age, swallowed everything she said too. They had no idea what the Legendary Warrior PrePure was, but they did not care either, it sounded cool and that was enough for them.

“Keep this a secret, okay?”

All of the children agreed in unison. Then after a few seconds they tried to charge at her again.

In one swift motion, Meilin swept off everyone’s feet, her dress following her movements elegantly like a true PrePure.

“By the way, she’s going to participate in the tournament looking like that now. Is it still possible to amend her application form?”

While Meilin played with the children, Mira went to talk with Henry. ‘Meimei’ was still too obvious for a fake name, so Mira wanted to amend the form with a more appropriate name.

“So she’ll be the Legendary Warrior uh…Pre…Pure…was it? Well, that shouldn’t be much of an issue.”

Henry barely had to think about it, despite it being a whole title and not just a different name. He then explained that they had already received many applications with strange names, like Snowwhite Princess or Midnight Cavallier. Those tended to be nobles who wanted to test their skills without bringing attention to their families, or just popular personages who were there for fun. The Legendary Warrior PrePure would fit in amongst them without issue.

“I still can hardly believe that’s her though… But I’m curious, was this the reason why you were looking for Meimei?”

Henry muttered that as he took another look at Meilin’s new appearance. It was easy to connect the dots, as the transformation happened as soon as Mira and Meilin got a moment alone.

“Yes, that’s correct.”

Meilin would likely remain in Henry’s care for a while longer, so Mira felt the need to share a few things with him just in case, which boiled down to explaining that Meilin was someone in a rather high position, and that it was best for her to not stand out too much in public.

“I see… So she was here undercover the whole time. I had a hunch that could be the case, judging by her skills.”

It was hard to know just how much Henry had already deduced. He just smiled a bit and did not pry any further.

(Alright… It’s pretty much safe to say that my mission is complete now!)

Mira had done everything she could. At this point the only identifying factor was that Meilin was a Sage, and that was something Mira would never take away from her. Everyone in that tournament was competing to be the strongest, so trying to fight without one’s main abilities would be self-saboutage, and would invalidate any reason to take part in the tournament. Mira already knew what it was like to be denied something like that, as she herself was banned from taking part. So she abstained from saying anything more to Meilin.

If for whatever reason Meilin’s identity was still uncovered, it would be something completely unavoidable, and Mira could wash her hands from it.
