Chapter 710: Chapter 710

Meilin looked curiously at Mira, who stood up unscathed after being kicked away for the umpteenth time. She had been trying to measure the strength of Mira’s Holy Knight Frame, attacking from various blind spots and with strikes of varying power.

“This is one of my most recent favorites. You won’t be able to break through it so easily.”

Mira said as she stood up unbothered, fully aware that without armor, she would have been knocked out ten times over. Then again, she could hardly track Meilin’s movements with her eyes, and as Meilin gradually sped up, even reacting to sound cues was getting nearly impossible.

All her five senses could only react the instant before she was hit, so she had to rely on Life Sensing to find Meilin’s position and brace each time.

Regardless of how sturdy it was, the Holy Knight Frame had already endured countless hits and it was only a matter of time before it would break. And Mira had not been sitting idle waiting for that to happen. Her eyes had been constantly darting all around the training area, despite how impossible it was to follow Meilin’s movements, and it was about to pay off.

“Let’s see how you like my other recent favorite then!”

Mira grinned at the chance to put her experiments to use, as a multitude of magic circles appeared all over the training area.

“Ohh, I can feel a lot of mana!”

Meilin appeared slightly wary of that, but in reality was really curious and did not want to miss whatever Mira would do. In a corner of the room were Henry and his siblings too, filled with a multitude of feelings as they continued to watch.

Meilin appeared slightly let down after having watched with such high expectations.

All the magic circles produced were dozens of Holy Knights, which Meilin had already defeated multiple times in the fight. The only difference seemed to be their number, as the whole training area was crowded by them now.

“Oh, just keep watching.”

Mira just grinned even more, finally activating the gimmick as she turned all her summons into Holy Lords.

Their shields became taller and wide like walls, which the Holy Lords held with both hands to create an enhanced defense that would resist Meilin’s attacks much better.

On top of that, their sheer number made the training area feel even more congested. Even if Meilin continued using the walls and ceiling to move around, there were too many obstacles for her to gain much speed. So she would need to deal with the Holy Lords first before being able to unleash her full power again.

And Mira’s plan did not end there. Thanks to her connection to the Spirit King, she had also imbued the Holy Lords with the power of a Light Spirit, giving them a blinding shine.

As a result, the whole training area turned so bright it was impossible to see anything.

“This is too bright!”

Meilin closed her eyes, overwhelmed by the bright light, and Mira laughed haughtily while also closing her eyes.

“Is that also something summoners can do? That’s an interesting power.”

“I can’t see anything Henryyy.”

Henry and his siblings were also blinded by the light, which felt like looking straight at the sun. But that also meant that no one would be able to see how the summons would fight after that.

“Let’s see how you fight in this situation.”

Neither of the opponents could see the other, but Mira knew where Meilin was with Life Sensing. Then again, that was a Sage Art so Meilin could use it as well. But that did not even the field fully.

As the summoner, Mira knew the exact position of every single Holy Lord, while Meilin did not.

Mira walked freely through the blinding light, and whenever Meilin tried to move closer, she would be stopped by the Holy Lords, which used their massive shields to strike her.

Meilin was still able to barely dodge those attacks by their presence and noise, but Mira had also thought a step further, selecting a few of the dozens of Holy Lords to be stealthy ones with the power of a Spirit of Stillness.

It did not take long for Meilin to wander too close to one of those and be struck by a shield bash, which produced a dull sound. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ novel(ꜰ)ire.net

“Ack! What was that? I didn’t notice it!”

Unlike Mira’s usual thin defenses, Meilin’s body was tough and resistant from all her training, coupled with various Sage Art defenses, so the shield bash barely hurt her.

(I wasn’t even trying to go easy on her… but she didn’t even flinch and even counterattacked. What a fearsome fighting girl.)

Mira knew that Meilin was easily as tough as any warrior class, so she did not hold back when striking her, only to see it had even less effect than she expected.

It had taken blinding and tricking Meilin’s ears to land an attack, only for the Holy Lord that accomplished it to be shattered to pieces by a violent hit a moment later.

The timing and reaction speed of her attacks had improved since the last time Mira had seen her, likely a result of her continued training travels.

Once again, that reminded Mira of how uncommon it was to actually beat Meilin, but it did not discourage her, as she thought up the next thing to try.

“This is getting annoying.”

Meilin continued attempting to attack in Mira’s general direction, while she moved her Holy Lords to never give a direct opening, spreading the attack amongst multiple of them.

The attacks were also gradually growing stronger as Meilin reassessed how much force to use. If she simply went all out, she would easily destroy the Holy Lords, but she was avoiding doing that because she was still a guest in Henry’s home.

Her attacks were powerful enough to destroy a single Holy Lord, but Mira was using multiple of them at once, and the collateral damage from destroying so many of them at once would blow off at least half of the mansion.

Even Meilin was aware of how improper that would be, so instead she tried out a more precise approach with various other attacks, to little avail as the training area was gradually breaking apart as the fight went on.

But it was only a matter of time before Meilin would break free.

“Let’s try this formation next!”

As Mira attempted to experiment with a different lineup of glowing Holy Lords, Meilin had finally found the right amount of strength necessary and created an opening.

Before, her attacks were powerful enough to send a Holy Lord flying back, except that they would be caught and kept in place by the Holy Lords behind it.

But this time she had aimed for the large window on one of the sides of the training area, knocking the Holy Lord out through it.

Meilin had been careful about her movements, ensuring that there was only one row of Holy Knights there, and when she was certain that defenses were thin, she created the perfect opening. She had realized she was at a disadvantage inside there, and found a way to deal with it, and while Mira was in shock by it, Meilin escaped.

“I can finally see again.”

After dealing a finishing blow to the Holy Lord she had knocked out, she stood up and looked at the bright training area, holding her hand out and inviting Mira to come out as well.

“So you got away. Oh well, I’ll play along.”

The battlefield had shifted to the garden outside, and Mira decided that would be the perfect chance to try outdoor tactics and rushed out after Meilin.
