Chapter 675: Chapter 675

‘Meow Master, I’ve completed the meowssion you entrusted to meow.’

Eventually, Hattori Nyanzo reported back, relating everything he went through.

He had arrived at the palace’s front gates without incident, and upon seeing the majestic building, the ancient blood coursing through his veins was set ablaze, showing him that it was a palace worth conquering. But upon acting on those instincts, he was soon surrounded by guards and forced into questioning, and only released after he showed the medal Mira entrusted to him.

Not long after that, he succeeded in making contact with Esmeralda, one of the Twelve Apostles, who he told about the assassins and their hideout. After all that, he reported back to Mira. Read full story at novel✦fire.net

‘I feel like there was a lot of irrelevant information halfway through, but good job. You did well.’

Everything would have gone much more smoothly if he simply showed the medal to the gatekeepers instead of the roundabout way he went, but that aside, things were looking promising. Mira decided not to bring that up, and instead asked what action the palace would take.

‘Oh right. They said they’ll send out an assault platoon to deal with them.’

‘Hmm, an assault platoon, huh.’

According to Hattori Nyanzo, they were currently hastily putting together an assault team, and once ready, they would follow him all the way to the hideout.

‘Meow meow, and there was one more thing. They also said that if they show any signs of escaping before the platoon arrives, to take them down yourself.’

Hattori Nyanzo added that, almost like an afterthought. In a way, that also confirmed that they knew Mira’s true identity, as no regular Rank A adventurer would be expected to accomplish that on their own.

But someone like Danbulf the Army, one of the Nine Wisemen, would have little trouble seizing a whole hideout of assassins. At the same time, those were the exact words Mira had wanted to hear.

‘Hmm, alright. Tell them I’ll do that if things come to it.’

Mira replied with a grin, already thinking on how to do it in the most impactful way possible.

Maybe she could deploy her Dark Knights to wreak havoc, or have Alfina and her sisters perform a flashy entrance to take down everyone. Or maybe she could continue using the power of Stillness to pick off the assassins one after another, like a scene straight out of a horror movie. And so on, she really wanted to consider every possibility.

‘Someone just arrived at the mansion! Someone who was in a hurry!’

But those thoughts would be interrupted by a report from Popotwise, who was keeping watch outside. There had to be a reason why that person was running like that, especially compared to the three she had followed who were much more cautious.

A few seconds later, she heard hasty footsteps approaching before a man bursted into the room where Mira was hiding. He was likely the person Popotwise had mentioned.

(Oh, this must be him. It seems he ran all the way here.)

He was breathing heavily from all the running, but he did not wait a second to operate the hidden stairs and continued rushing down there.

(So he’s going straight to the boss.)

Mira followed the man’s movements with Life Sensing, and saw his reading move rapidly to the same room as the first three assassins she had followed. She could only wonder what kind of information required so much haste.

Driven by that curiosity, she began debating sneaking down there as well, but was stopped when she noticed more movement.

The man who rushed in turned around and ran out from the hidden stairs, while raising his voice to repeatedly yell, “Pack everything! Quickly! An assault platoon is on the way!”

(Now that’s something… Does this mean they have a mole in the palace? They found out way faster than I expected.)

According to Hattori Nyanzo’s regular updates, the assault platoon had just been gathered, but they had not left the palace yet. But somehow that man had already known about them and came to warn the rest.

(Well, that’s a problem for them to handle later.)

That was an internal issue of Nirvana’s government, so the higher-ups of Nirvana should deal with that. But she would gladly do what she was asked to do and stop the assassins from escaping.

Now that she had a valid reason to act, she quickly began her plan.

First, she used Sense Sync to gain the viewpoint of Popotwise, before unleashing yet another ability she had acquired in her research at the Tower.

Summoning sites had to be designated before a summon would appear. So far, Mira had been limited to deploying summoning sites within a fifty-meter radius, and only if she had a clear line of sight. But now, she had enhanced that capability by integrating Sense Sync, allowing her to deploy summoning sites in more places.

Now, even with Mira deep within the mansion, she could borrow Popotwise’s line of sight to deploy summons outside of the mansion, and soon, there were forty five Holy Knights and five Ashen Knights encircling the mansion.

(Ohoh, this came in handy much faster than I thought.)

One of the men in the mansion decided to travel light, picking up only a few items before rushing out of the front door, only to receive a Holy Knight’s shield bash straight on the face and flying back into the mansion. Soon after, there was a big argument between those inside.

Popotwise’s point of view showed how the man flew back and hit a wall before falling limp, as the hit knocked him unconscious.

The loud noise lured more people there, where first they saw their fallen comrade, and then the Holy Knight standing at the door. Once they processed what had happened, they ran around in a daze like headless chickens.

“What the hell! They’re already here!”

“I thought he said we still had time to escape before they got here?!”

“What do we even do now? We’re surrounded!”

They thought the Holy Knights were the assault platoon, and now they did not know where to run off to, while also starting to blame the man who had warned them.

“No, that’s impossible… I ran here as soon as I heard they would come! They shouldn’t be here so soon!”

“Then who the hell is standing outside! We can’t slip out anywhere!”

As they continued to argue, the man who warned them insisted that the assault platoon was still getting ready, until he saw the Holy Knight and his face contorted with fear.

“Who in the world is that… That’s not the assault platoon…I’ve never seen anyone like that in the whole army…”

Some tried to find an opening through the encirclement, others tried to break through by force, but no matter what they tried, they were always mercilessly forced back by the Holy Knights.

And that was not all, as the five Ashen Knights also made their way into the mansion.

With them inside, it did not matter whether the men ran, tried to stand their ground, or fought back, they all fell at the hands of the Ashen Knights.

The man who came to warn the rest, who could not recognize the Holy and Ashen Knights, also stood no chance and soon joined the rest of his comrades, lying unconscious on the floor.

(That’s one side taken care of.)

The first floor of the mansion had been taken care of, leaving only those past the hidden stairs. With that in mind, Mira cut off Sense Sync and walked up to the lion statue in a corner of the room, sticking her hand into its mouth. Inside, she felt a small ring, which opened the hidden stairs after being pulled.

“Yes, I’ll cover you.”
