Chapter 553: Chapter 553
Zhou Yiyi glared at Lin Mu, "Call me Zhou Yiyi, not Yi Yi Yi Yi all the time! Your question is pathetic, next!"
Lin Mu became displeased when he heard this, "Tsk, what’s up with this girl? Why am I not up to standard? Aren’t both of us lead dancers? Why do everyone’s eyes drift towards Zhou Mo?"
Zhou Yiyi couldn’t help but chuckle, "Well, you said it yourself. Everyone is looking at Zhou Mo, right? So, who do you think dances better? It’s obvious, haha. But don’t be upset, you’re also quite good, at least cooler than those senior brothers above us in terms of moves." Check latest chapters at novel·fire·net
"Really?" Lin Mu looked skeptical, Zhou Yiyi nodded vigorously, inadvertently asking what she was curious about.
"When did you guys start learning street dance? It really has power and soul!"
"I haven’t been learning for long, just started in the seventh grade. Fell in love with it at first sight, and learned during a few summer vacations? Zhou Mo is pretty much in the same boat,"
"What? You reached this level after only a few summer vacations? Are you kidding me?"
"Go away, who’s kidding you, silly girl. Don’t pretend to know when you don’t. As long as one has good physical fitness, flexibility, and responsiveness, and of course, talent, like us who play basketball daily, who isn’t in good shape? The others are even more outrageous; Zhou Mo trained them intensively for just half a month, and they caught up with the progress. Honestly, as long as you don’t do headspins, the other moves are easy as long as you follow the beat. Hip-hop and jazz dances are all connected, learn one and you can roughly keep up with the rest."
Lin Mu made it sound simple, but for Zhou Yiyi, such cool moves were not something ordinary people could do. In yoga, even a handstand is very difficult, and Ashtanga seems simple but requires good physical condition in all aspects. That’s why more boys practice Ashtanga because they have the strength. Girls can practice it too, but there’s a clear disparity in power.
Zhou Yiyi was still wearing the white T-shirt she had on for the rehearsal, with the school’s autumn sports uniform over it. Although Zhou Mo had been silent, the occasional glances he threw her way landed on Zhou Yiyi eight or nine times out of ten. Zhou Yiyi didn’t notice this, but Lin Mu, sitting next to her, sensed it keenly and frowned.
Today, Zhou Yiyi and her desk mate were on cleaning duty, so she let her roommate go ahead, planning to eat by herself later.
Zhou Mo and Lin Mu, who usually disappeared as soon as school ended, didn’t leave. Zhou Mo was doing his homework, while Lin Mu was shouting for Zhou Yiyi to have dinner together, even helping her clean.
Zhou Yiyi, unable to reach the top of the blackboard, stood on tiptoe and bounced to wipe it. Seeing this, Lin Mu threw his broom aside and took over.
"You little runt, let me do it!"
Zhou Yiyi glared at him fiercely, "You’re the runt, you—your whole family is full of runts!"
I mean, come on, I’m at least 1.6 meters tall, barely over the line. How could I be considered short? Such a poisonous tongue without any tact!
After her desk mate finished cleaning the other half, Zhou Yiyi let her go ahead, leaving just the three of them in the classroom.
With Lin Mu’s help, she quickly finished cleaning, then grabbed her water bottle and called out to Zhou Mo, "We’re going to eat, come with us!"
Only then did Zhou Mo slowly lift his head, tidy up his desk, and without a word, grabbed his coat and followed.
Lin Mu was irritated by his attitude, "Look at you, acting all high and mighty like someone owes you eighty thousand. I mean, how long have we been desk mates? The longest thing I’ve heard you say is your name on the first day of school."
Lin Mu’s tone was clearly mocking, but Zhou Mo, never quick to retort, didn’t even spare him a glance, and walked ahead as if he hadn’t heard a thing.
Lin Mu glared at him resentfully, then complained to Zhou Yiyi, "You have no idea how pitiful I am. It’s bad enough you don’t talk to me normally, but in class when I drift off and the teacher calls on me, you don’t even give me a heads-up, letting me embarrass myself time and again. That’s not what friends do!"
Zhou Yiyi twitched the corner of her mouth in exasperation, "Hey, big brother, it’s your own fault for not paying attention in class; you can’t start blaming others when the teacher calls on you, can you?"
"Hey Zhou Yiyi, do you have no conscience? If I hadn’t reminded you about that physics problem last time, could you have answered it?"
Zhou Yiyi’s face turned red, "Well, that’s true. I almost forgot about that."
Lin Mu ground his teeth in the shadows, and Zhou Yiyi, seeing this, couldn’t help but laugh, "Alright, alright, I’ll treat you to a meal, okay?"
"You said it; you better not go back on your word."
When they got to the cafeteria, after Lin Mu had chosen his meal and walked away, Zhou Mo suddenly cut in front of her and picked a few dishes for himself, then said to the cafeteria auntie,
Zhou Yiyi’s mouth twitched and, resigning herself to fate, she ordered her own food. She had thought this meal would cost at least twenty yuan, but it turned out to be only US$ 12.
By the time she got to the table with her tray, she saw the two boys sitting opposite each other. There was a bottle of yogurt on the seat next to Zhou Mo. She set her tray down and just as she sat down, Zhou Mo passed her a fried chicken leg, while Lin Mu didn’t hesitate to give her a grilled sausage.
"You’re so skinny; eat more. Oh right, there’s free seaweed soup tonight. Just wait, I’ll go get us some soup!"
Zhou Yiyi looked at the fried chicken leg and sausage in her plate, then glanced at the steamed bun beside her, swallowing hard.
"If I had known, I wouldn’t have picked up a steamed bun. Now I’m not going to be able to finish all of this."
Hearing this, Zhou Mo glanced over, grabbed the steamed bun from her plate, and started eating it hungrily.
Zhou Yiyi gaped at him with her mouth wide open. He ate indifferently, and though they didn’t speak, his behavior was a huge shock to Yiyi.
Lin Mu brought over two bowls of soup, and Yiyi, seeing the egg floating in it, was astounded, "How did you manage that? Why do I never get an egg whenever I scoop up the soup?"
Lin Mu started prattling on excitedly, but Zhou Mo frowned at him, and Lin Mu, sensing his gaze, huffed.
"You have hands and feet, go get it yourself."
Zhou Mo ignored him, didn’t get up, and just continued with his meal. Zhou Yiyi played along, complimenting him a few times. After finishing their food amid much grumbling, they were just about to stand up and leave when Zhou Mo noticed that Zhou Yiyi’s bowl still had more than half of the soup untouched. He picked it up and gulped it down, then walked away nonchalantly, completely ignoring the two who were flabbergasted.
"Good heavens, am I blind? Did that guy actually drink your leftover soup?"
Zhou Yiyi also looked as if she had seen a ghost, and her expression was awkward, unsure of what to say.
Lin Mu hurried after him with questions, but Zhou Yiyi found herself unable to move. She touched the yogurt in her hand—that was still the one Zhou Mo had bought for her. She hadn’t thought much of it before, but now suddenly, it felt too hot to handle.
