Chapter 37: Chapter 37

Joanna's POV

The sound of someone singing loudly with a cracked voice aroused me.

Is this my birthday punishment or did I do anything wrong this past year to warrant this? I thought to myself while I grunted and whirled to rest on my right side in a bid to muffle the noise.

"Happy birthday sweetie." A voice spoke, followed by an arm that encircled me.

I then opened my eyes and smiled at Tenda who peered down at me, a wide grin on her lips.

"Get off your lazy ass bitch, it's time for Dora to do your make-up." She scoffed after I had groaned and relaxed back on the bed.

"Be fast sis, I'm not getting any younger standing here." Dora voiced out tapping her feet on the tiled floor impatiently, her hands on her hips.

This made me sit up after I realized they had hanged up on me on my birthday and scowled. I got off the bed and trudged over to my wardrobe, there I produced high-waisted jeans and a yellow and white striped singlet top specifically bought for today.

"What time is it?" I raised a question, while I presided to the bathroom where I had a quick bath.

When I was done sorting myself out, I sauntered back to my room and met them taking selfies. Shaking my head in amusement,  I tugged on my jeans and top.

"It's 1:30 pm now, you spent up to 30mins in the bathroom doing God knows what." Dora blurted, in reply to my earlier question.

"Have this as a pre-birthday snack," Tenda spoke and handed me a packet of fresh, hot, milk-flavored popcorn which I accepted with a genuine smile of gratitude.

"Yass!" I moaned in delight as my taste buds met the delicious milky, crispy goodness. "This is just what I need to start my fun-filled day."

"Can you drop the popcorn and let me do your makeup?" Dora questioned in annoyance after I didn't let her steal even a piece of the delightful popcorn.

"Is there a rule that says I can't eat while you make me up?" I polled with a smirk. "By the way, I just need you to do the brows and lashes, or am I eating with my brows?"

"Mehn, she got you good," Tenda laughed afterward when she caught sight of Dora's constipated and annoyed look.

"Thank you," I said to Dora in a sweet smile after she was done glamming me up, to which she rolled her eyes in response.

"You gotta smell good though," Tenda spoke and grabbed my perfume from where it rested on the nightstand and sprayed on me the flowery scent.

"I'm ready now, where to?" I interrogated after I had confirmed my look in the mirror.

"The Hive!" Dora screamed as she patted her stomach, "I need to fill myself up."

"Okay then, let's head out." Tenda nodded and shoed us as if it was her room or house.

We all hiked down the stairs and met a quiet living room which indicated that Elvis must have gone out.

When we all got outside, I locked the entrance doors as no one was home, and everyone had their keys, so I wasn't bothered about leaving someone locked out.

After I had secured it, I joined the girls in the car, and immediately after, Tenda drove us in the direction of the eaterie.

As we got there, we shuffled out the vehicle and I led the way to where we would get our food while Tenda looked for a cute corner for us to sit and have a little bit of privacy while Dora went to get drinks.

When the food was placed before me on the counter I called them to help me carry the food, hence I didn't have three hands to carry three trays and lastly, it was my birthday so I shouldn't even be allowed to carry anything at all.

After we had all collected our food and sat at the table in the corner Tenda chose for us, I said the grace before we began to eat and then took the opportunity to check my WhatsApp as I hadn't done so since I woke up.

I was shocked to see tons of messages from my cousins all around the country, and trust me I had many cousins here in Nigeria not to talk of the ones from my Mom's side.

I remember when Blake met my whole family at one Christmas, the first thing that left his mouth was *we deserve our own town* seeing as we were that much.

"Why are you laughing and shaking your head like someone who's just gone insane?" Dora inquired, bestowing me a weird glance.

"It's her birthday, so let her be." Tenda chuckled in response.

"Holy Shit!" Dora cried out which had me choking on a grain of rice.

Yeah, I ordered a plate of rice with salad and chicken, we all did.

"What?" Tenda asked, a hand on her chest in horror the same instant I strived to stop choking.

"Take a look at this," Dora declared and indicated something on her phone.

"Oh my God, Omg! Omg!" Tenda squealed before she squeezed me in an excited hug.

"What's going on?" I interviewed, a tad confused at Tenda's sudden action.

"Check your WhatsApp." Dora grinned.

"I'm doing that." I scoffed and showed her my phone's screen.

"Not like that stupid, I meant, check Frank's WhatsApp status," She retorted.

"Okay," I voiced out nervously and lent them a scared look before I tapped the status sign on my screen and scrolled down until his name appeared.

I clicked on it, but what I saw wasn't a need for someone to squeal so loudly as Tenda did. "I don't see anything strange." I shrugged.

"Give me that," Dora complained and snatched the phone from my palm, and clicked on the screen several times before she returned it, "Do you see that?"

I swerved and peeked at the screen and what I noticed made my heart stop and swell all at once.

"Frank with a guitar?" I raised a question speechless.

"Wait, what's he, what's he about to do, tell me guys what's he about to do?"

"Shhhh, just watch," Tenda shushed me with a big smile on her face to which I nodded and did as I was told and focused on the video that was playing.

Frank was sat in a chair with a guitar in his, room? How the hell didn't I know he has one? I queried myself as I fixed my eyes on the screen.
