Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Joanna's POV

"Hey," I greeted him with a smile as I approached him.

"Hey beautiful," He replied while opening the passenger door for me.

"So, what's going on? What's all this about," I asked and buckled my seatbelt.

"You'll see." He winked

"Okay, where are you taking me then?" I tried my luck.

"Same thing." He rolled his eyes

"Please, pretty please," I begged in a pout.

"Uh." He groaned, "Why do you have to be so cute?"

I shrugged in response, feeling giddy already as I knew he would tell me if I continued pouting, which I did.

"We are going to the city park." He sighed in exasperation as he couldn't stand it anymore.

"Why the sad face," I inquired with a chuckle, pretending to be oblivious of what I had just done.

"You ruined my surprise!" He whined, like a kid who was denied his candy.

"Dude!" I laughed. "We are going to the park what's the big deal?"

"Ouch!" He exclaimed and crouched his chest dramatically. "You know how to ruin a guy's ego."

I broke out in a laugh the Instant I took note of the expression on his face which was so funny and cute? A tiny voice in my head mocked.

Okay, okay and cute, happy now? I muttered to myself.

"Sorry? I didn't get you, what did you say?" He questioned and glanced away from the road to give me a look.

"Oh, nothing." I waved him off.

"Alright, have you been to the city park at night?" He quizzed a tad curious.

"Nope, I haven't," I shook my head in reply.

"Holy shit!" He exclaimed. "You mean you haven't been to the c___

"City park at night? Yeah, I said haven't," I completed.

"Wow, no offense, but, wow!" He chuckled. "Who hasn't been to the city park in the night?"

"Well duh, she's sitting right here," I blurted sarcastically.

"Sorry if I sounded harsh, but it's a good thing." He spoke as a smile formed on his face.

"How is that good?" I questioned. "I thought you were just laughing your ass off at my expense a few minutes ago."

"Well, first I have a right to laugh, It's my fundamental human right," He clamored in all seriousness that I strived so hard not to laugh, emphasis on hard but I couldn't, so I burst out in a fit of giggles.

His response was to stare at me in shock before he shook his head and continued what he was saying earlier.

"Secondly, since you haven't seen the city park in the night, it would be my utmost privilege and pleasure to show you and watch the look on your face because I know it would be worth it."

I was so stunned by what he had said that I blushed and wanted to laugh at the same time at his goofiness.

"Just drive," I told in between chuckles.

"No." He mumbled.

"Why?" I polled.

"Because we are here idiot." He deadpanned. "Look around you."

I did as he said and observed we were indeed at the park, How we could have driven so fast that I didn't realize we had reached was beyond me.

"Holy shit!" I exclaimed, "Is that?"

"Yep!" He answered excitedly.

"Damn, I've never seen something so---, wow!" I was in shock as I glanced around after he dragged me out of the car.

"I know right?" He beamed.

From where we stood, a few meters away from the entrance, the park seemed a bit quiet with just the occasional sounds of the Ferris wheel and swings as they moved.

"Wow!" I sighed as words couldn't describe how I felt at that moment or how beautiful the place looked at night with all the tiny white lights lit up all around. It was just as if I was walking on air with stars around me.

The cool night air felt so comforting to my skin and his fingers slowly enclosing themselves to mine made me feel so special, a sense of magic wrapping its palms around my being that I had to take in a deep breath to confirm I was indeed alive to witness such an amazing moment.

"Yeah, that's the look I was talking about," I heard him say beside me.

This made me swerve my head a bit to gaze at him with eyes shining bright as I murmured words of deep gratitude, "Thank you."

No one had ever made me feel the way he did. From that day at the party, my life had been a total series of events.

I recalled when I thought I was in love with Tony, thinking about it at that moment, I couldn't help but shiver a little. Not in disgust, rather I felt I loved him too much to had ever considered dating him.

"You're welcome," Frank spoke and stared deep into my eyes.

Snapping out of my thoughts I noticed him bring his face closer to mine which had me closing my eyes as I prepared myself for the kiss I'd been longing for ever since that party, our lips were nearly touching when a familiar voice broke us apart.

"Hey, partner!" A voice I knew too well yelled from a distance that had me groaning in disappointment as Frank shifted back and cleared his throat.

"Do you know him?" He implored his eyes on Ifeanyi who was coming towards us with the other two goons behind him.

I nodded in reply before I waved in greeting as they reached us.  "Hey, guys."

"Hey, sis." Blake blurted in that deep voice of his. "Who's this?"

"Hey, Jo." Tony voiced out when he looked up from his phone to glare at me as he saw who I was with before repeated Blake's question. "Who is this?"
