Chapter 35: Chapter 35
Chapter 9
A gasp.
One small gasp was all that was heard once her perfect sight reached its fullness. Her eyes darted back and forth between me and the stone before she finally rested them on mine.
“Y-you have the stone?” she stammered out in the smallest of whispers but I still heard her loud and clear with me wolf hearing, although it came out as a question with disbelief that I would, or should even have the thing. Slowly releasing the chair from the tight hold she had on it, she walked around it slowly and took a seat.
“May I?” reaching out with permission to hold it. Touch it. As if she wouldn’t be allowed to without the request. I nodded and placed it in her delicate hand.
Her eyes swam with excitement.
Her eyes twinkled and danced as they gazed upon this ever simple stone.
A small smile grazed her humble lips as she played with it gently with her fingertips still unsure if what she was holding was really in her hands.
“It’s beautiful isn’t it Selene?” I said watching her intently. Only to receive a small nod in return. “My boys found it in the forest by a tree clearing near our territory's lake.” A look of bewilderment flashed over her features before she cautiously handed it back. Placing it ever so gently into the palm of my hand.
“Your… Your Boys? Found this?” she finally spoke after what seemed like forever in uncertain silence. Disbelief still laced her voice and flawless facial features.
“Yes. They brought it to me and Alpha Johnathon.” confirming her question.
“They just…. picked it up?” asking again, waving her hand nonchalantly in the air.
“Yes? After they found it they showed it to us.” confirming my answer once again with questioning in her voice as to why this would be an issue.
‘Ok Timber… I know she’s an ancient Royal but does her hearing not work so good?’ Karin questioned while I could feel her agitation fluster.
‘Be nice Karin. She seems shocked. Behave.’ scolding her for being rude.
“And the stone? Just... let you... touch it? Without permission?” she questioned once more. Ok. Why does she keep asking me about this little stone? It’s a stone. Yes, it is beautiful but… for the love of all things good… it’s. A stone. For goodness sake.
Wasn’t it? Now I start questioning myself if it wasn’t something more I should be worried about, or ecstatic over. Now I’m the one confused.
She must have sensed my exasperation because she sighed and looked at me with bewilderment as she shook her head side to side.
“Timber you do not know what this means? Or what this stone represents. Do you?” softening her features to a more understanding one. Dumbfounded, I sadly shook my head no.
‘I do! It means the boys found a pretty stone!’ Karin shot back. Thank the Goddess Selene can’t hear my wolf. Rolling my eyes at her mentally.
“This stone was given to the Royals and Elders as the controller of all powers by the Ancient ones and Moon Goddess.” Sighing a little before continuing.
“I really knew nothing of my lineage or any Were past. Did I?” I whispered to myself feeling somewhat pitiful.
‘Its ok Timber… you were not educated in that sorry pack you grew up in remember? It’s not your fault.’ sorrow and regret filtered through our bond as Karin spoke comforting words to me. ‘That’s going to change.’ I told her with determination to learn about all species in our realm.
Selene just smiled at me motherly again with a look that said, “it’s alright child. You are learning now.”
“Since it was found, has your sister, Shamira, been bothering you more? Maybe your boys too perhaps?” thinking for a moment before nodding a yes in realization a lot more. Was this stone really that important?
“Shamira was chosen to be the Queen of the Lycans. Jonas, who took and raised her as his own before mating with her, must have known this. Because Jonas is a devilish and tormenting wolf Shamira would have been raised to be just like him. But you Timber…” trailing off briefly as if thinking of the right words to say. Gently squeezing my hands giving another smile she continued.
“You were chosen to rule over all supernatural and magical beings. Including Lycans. Jonas must not have sensed how great you were meant to be or he would’ve taken you instead.”
“So when the stone disappeared from its resting place… must have created the signal for Shamira to have noticed it missing. This stone Timber only stays with the chosen one. And only the chosen one is allowed to touch it without permission from the keeper. Since you and your boys touched it freely… it can only mean…”
“We are all chosen.” I say almost in a whisper while interrupting her.
‘See I told you we are special!’ Karin howled in my head with excitement.
“It seems so. There has never been more than one to be allowed the privilege of the stone until now. There must be something dreadful coming. A war to disturb the whole supernatural way of life that only you and your family can defeat.” expressionless she stood, turned behind the chair and turned to face me again.
“You need to be ready. You and your boys…. your family. I am assuming since you chose to accept Alpha Johnathon and his wolf, Bane, he is a good and fair Alpha?” I nodded in agreement and smiled while blushing slightly, not really knowing why. But the thought of Johnathon caused a warmth to run through me in tidal waves.
‘Yep! That’s our mate!’ Karin jumped up and down furiously at her knowing our mate. Karin is so proud of our mate. Me too if truth be told.
“You will need all their help to defeat Shamira and those who are coming. Be prepared Timber. Train with your wolf… most importantly? Train with your powers. They are growing and will continue to grow now that you have the stone. Protect it and your boys with your life. They are meant to be great rulers one day. And their mates? Well…” smiling mischievously. “They will be something beyond our reality as well.”
‘Pups too young to have mates! No mates for pups until they’re older!’ Karin huffed and sat down.
‘Stop it Karin… she meant when they were older.’ giving her another mental eye roll while laughing at her.
“I understand. I do have a question though.” waiting for her reply which came as a gentle nod. “Why does this stone have multiple colors?”
“That’s simple really. It holds the powers of all the elements, not just one.” smiling as if she just told me the answer to why the sky’s blue and the clouds relinquish rain from them.
“I have blue. Shamira is red. Myles I believe is pearl white. And Marcus. Marcus is emerald green.” realization just hit me that we all have individual elemental powers. Looking up at her she silently nodded again smiling, waiting to see if it would all come together on its own for me.
“Since the boys are still so very young, I will then be.... I will have…. access to all elements and… and mental abilities!” my eyes widened, as I finally reached full understanding of what everything means.
“Now you are understanding Timber. The boys will be able to transport as well as being able to touch the stone. They may not be able to use all elemental powers, but… Since they are twins, they may be able to harness each other.”
“Shamira and I are twins? Will that mean she can harness mine too?” dread started to rise within thinking she will be more powerful now.
“Not now that you have the stone. It will protect you from her trying to pull from your energy.” she said before an odd look appeared.
“She may be able to still touch your blue energy… but nothing else. You are from the same womb after all. But without the actual twin bond, I doubt she’ll be able to actually tap into your gifts like your boys can. Remember the stone will protect you as long as you have it in your possession.”
“Thank you Selene for everything. I must go now.” saying in a hurried tone as my breath hitched and my mind raced with urgency. “I need to get everyone and myself prepared.” quickly standing as I look at Selene with great pride and adoration.
“Please reach out if you need me at any time. I am but a teleport away.” she said, hugging me like a mother would her child.
“Wait!” I said breaking the hug abruptly but still holding onto her arms. “ I can… Teleport now too!” confused understanding radiating from my eyes.
‘You need to find out what else you can do Timber before leaving’ I heard Karin whisper.
“Of course. ALL telepathic abilities, remember?” letting it filter out as though it was the most normal thing to be able to teleport myself.
“You will also need to practice all the elements now. But teleportation and persuasion is one gifted to the chosen. Use it wisely. To teleport all you have to do is concentrate where or with whom you want to be and it will take you there. Like your mate, who received this to protect you… you now have them to protect …. everyone.” cupping my face smiling as she pulled me once more into a hug.
Warmth radiated from the embrace as a mother would provide for her young. It filled my heart with such love and comfort I felt as if I couldn’t take anymore of it or I would burst at the seams.
“Remember you will also be able to persuade the minds of others… so be careful and mindful with your thoughts, wants and desires. It can be used to alter someone’s thinking or movements. Use your new abilities wisely or you can become consumed by them.” she stated, with warning before saying goodbye.
“You can teleport? Of course you can.” I said shrugging but it came out more like a question instead. “You were once chosen… weren’t you, Selene?” no words ever left her mouth, but instead she just smiled sweetly once more, raising her hand. Then with the flick of her wrist I was gone.
