Chapter 63: Chapter 63

Running can be your escape or your worst enemy.

~Ever~

I don't know if I just run so slow, or I'm just not built for running since he pushed me against the wall. My head smacked against the wall as I fell on the ground. I had a tight grip on the gun but when I aimed up and pulled the trigger, nothing. Nothing shot out.

It felt like my heart was placed on the floor while getting shot at as I watched it. Oh no.

He laughed at me and kicked me hard on the side of my head causing me to slam my head hard against the wall again. There was a ringing sound in my head and everything seemed to be moving slow and pain was throbbing hard.

I felt something tickling the side of my face and I knew it was already blood, what else would it be? I flopped on my side as the ringing was slowly going down and then I just ended up laying on my back with my mouth open.

He bent down and smiled down at me as he was typing on his phone, he was shaking his head as he was giving a rough chuckle and started to type. I was still gripping the gun tightly and I knew this was my only chance of getting away.

When the ringing went away and I was getting back to my senses, I looked at him and still saw him not paying attention to me, I moved a little bit closer to him and hit the butt of the gun hard against his jaw, and I quickly pushed myself up and took off running.

My head was throbbing but I made myself run even though I was in so much pain.

I ran out to the side walk and kept going forward, I heard his foot steps following me heavily behind and I was so scared. My knee was throbbing in pain, it felt like I was slowly tearing my muscle and slowly starting to break my bone again.

I was passing by some shops but it was late so no one was there, but he caught up to me and knocked me down. I knew I wasn't going to get far when my knee was throbbing in pain. How could I? I can never run the same and I'm surprised I even got away from Edward.

He gripped my hair and pulled my head back to where it caused pain in my neck and made me groan in pain. I was pushed down on my stomach with him on top of me. "I'm not letting money go to waste." He hissed in my ear. "I'm getting that money with you being returned." I tried to pull my head back and tried to swing my arm back to at least hit him with the gun but he held me roughly and reached forward and ripped the gun out of my hand.

"Not going to lie, that was a pretty good hit." He pulled my head further back and it made me groan out in pain once more. "But mine would always be better." He hissed in my ear. I closed my eyes knowing what he what he meant.

I thought maybe if I just relaxed, maybe I'll knock out with out pain knocking me out. He was saying other things and when he stopped I knew it was coming. "I may get in trouble for giving you marks but, oh well." I took a deep breath in and relaxed. He tightened his hold on my hair and pulled my head back as far as it can and pushed down, making me head make contact with the floor.

Knocking me out completely cold.

"I found her like that! I swear I did! Why would I touch her like that?!"

"I was watching the whole city, and you're telling me you're not lying to me." His voice was calm, smooth, and so damn sexy.

"I-I swear, that was some other guy. I fought him off of her. I wouldn't touch her Boss. She's yours and just kill me if I ever were to mess with whatever is yours."

"No one walks out alive if they ever touch her." He said with a threat laced in between his words that he spat out. "So tell me again, why the hell did you hurt my Mai?! She wasn't doing anything, wasn't fighting, she barely even can run and you decided to tackle her to the ground and hurt her even more, and then you decide to climb on top of her, pull her hair back, whisper in her ear and then slam her head against the side walk!" I heard his gun cock and I knew he was going to take another life again.

"Boss! I just follow procedures! That's what I'm train to do! I can't help but give threats and make them remember me-"

"What if she wakes up not remembering anything!"

"I-I"

"I'm fuckin done with you." I still heard the little sound that came out of the bullet, I still heard it through the silencer he has on his gun.

"Did you already called someone to check on her?"

"He said he's on his way, he had some trouble getting here." I heard Edward say.

I slowly start to open my eyes and see that I'm laying down on a couch with my knee covered in a bag of ice and I start to slowly feel the cold ice pack on my forehead too. I look slowly to the left of me and see Vincenzo looking at the dead man he shot just right now as Edward picks up his phone and places it against his ear and walks away for a bit.

Vincenzo looks over to me like he knew I was staring at him and his face is stone cold but with one eyebrow raised.

Was he going to yell at me for running away? Was he going to just yell at me in general. So I waited for him to say something but all he did was stare at me and walk up to me till I had to move my head slightly up to see his green eyes.

I see his hand reach forward and I flinch, I don't know why, but I closed my eyes and stayed tense till I felt where his hand land. But I didn't feel his touch anywhere. I was going to open my eyes but I felt the ice pack leave my forehead and then felt his warm hand replace the spot where my skin was already numb from the coldness.

"That's was a stupid act Mai. I already told you that you're mine and I don't easily let go of things that are mine." His thumb creased my forehead and his hand was rough as it rubbed against my skin but I didn't want to open my eyes when he was talking to me.

"No man should ever lay his hand on you. Only it was me or you let them- but you'll never will because I'll be there pulling the trigger on them before they ever come close to doing so."

I slowly open my eyes and his lips are pointed down while his eyebrows are together. "I never had these feelings Mai. I don't want them to leave, and if you leave I'm afraid of what I'll feel. Maybe I'm cheating out joy, but I can't let you leave me. I love you too much."

"I knew I wouldn't make it far." I said softly. I saw his lip twitch but it remain in a frown. "Don't bring whatever you do outside inside the estate. I don't want to see and imagine whatever you've done to poor men-"

He barks out a laugh, "poor men, ha. They're are not poor men, they don't deserve mercy, they need to be-" His eyes are covered in hatred and I place my hand on top of his.

"I don't want to hear any of this. You keep that in your mind or you go somewhere else and tell someone else. Not me."

He shuts up and waited for me to say something, but I didn't. He sighed and removed his hand from my head. "I have someone coming in to check on you. That man there hit your head pretty hard, I don't know if he caused damage. I don't know. He's dead, I was going to kill him either way, even if he didn't hurt you. Just didn't like the guy." He shrugs his shoulders and takes a step back.

I look back forward, which made me stare up at the ceiling and sighed. "Okay." I said as I closed my eyes and gently fell into darkness.
