Chapter 19: Chapter 19
*Tajwar Pov*
“Wake up!” I heard a faint sound, but I brushed the hand away before drifting off into sleep again.
“You are getting late for work.” I heard the voice again, but feeling tired, I turned to the other side and again slept off.
“Please wake up at least now.” And this time I finally did to scold her, but stopped when I saw that her face is very near to me, and she is just whispered in my ear.
“Why are you disturbing my sleep?” I asked, startling her, but before she could move away, I encircled her waist with my hand and made her fall on me.
“Do you even know what the time is? It is nine o'clock." She replied when I didn’t budge to release her no matter how much she tried.
“What?” I asked, staring at her in shock.
“Yes!” she replied, nodding and turned my head so that I can glance at the clock.
“I have been waking you up, but you just didn’t wake up even a little.” She added, and I frowned at her.
“This is all your fault.” I accused her before releasing her and sat up when she moved away in shock.
“My fault?” She asked in a disbelief tone.
“Yes! You are just tiring me out everyday because of which my daily clock is getting damaged.” I replied, smirking to which she immediately blushed before moving away to get down, but I held her hand.
“And then you are coming into the room very late no matter how many times I ask you to return soon.” I added and expected her to blush, but she slowly smiled at me.
“I have a solution for that. Why don’t you join with your family for dinner, and we can return to the room very early with not much work left for me to do?” She asked, and I left her hand within a second.
“Please! Try to return to them.” She added, pleading, but I gave her a hard look before getting down from the bed and started getting ready before I get anymore late for the office ignoring her calls.
“Don’t be mad at me.” She whispered slowly, hugging me from behind with little hesitance when I was busy in combing my hair.
“I am not.” I mumbled before turning around, but she still continued to look at me with a worried expression.
I slowly kissed her, after which she got assured that I am not angry with her. Why would I even be mad at her and make her behave warily near me when she is the only one because of whom I need not to live alone thinking awful things and can actually live normally?
“What is this, Aahil? Don’t you really want to win this ticket?” I heard Dad shouting when we both started climbing down the stairs.
“Give me a break, Dad. It is not anything like I have lost already. There is still time and I will show you what I can achieve.” Aahil shouted back, making me frown and Mridula sighed from beside me.
“Does this happen everyday?” I asked her and she slowly nodded.
“Uncle is just a little worried for Aahil.” She replied, shaking her head and we both turned back to see Mom, Dad and Aahil staring at me with wide eyes.
“Great!” I mumbled and started walking near to the door while Mridula explained to them that I just woke up late when Mom asked her.
“Will you return soon?” she slowly asked when I moved to get inside the car holding my car.
“We will see.” I replied already knowing it will irritate her or that is the only thing that irritates her or that’s the only thing I know.
“Not fair!” she mumbled when I closed the door, but waved when I drove away.
I entered the small building near the project site only to see a few workers staring at me, but they immediately looked away when I stared back.
“Good morning, Sir.” My secretary said with a big grin for the first time after he joined here.
“What is happening here?” I asked him frowning.
“Everyone got worried when you haven’t reached here on time, Sir. So, I explained to them that you are married now, and all this late coming will happen.” He explained like he did a great thing for me.
“If you forgot something, I didn’t get married recently. It is already past three months.” I said, glaring at him.
“The change doesn’t appear immediately, sir. It takes time, and I am glad that you have someone in your life whom you care for so much.” He said ignoring my anger.
“I don’t have anyone. Now, get out of my cabin.” I shouted at him, after which he left with a scared expression.
I don’t care for anyone, and I don’t have anyone in my life! Just because we got married and has a relation doesn’t change the fact that I don’t want something special in my life. When she can die even with a chance to live but by leaving me, then how can I let someone else in my heart.
I shook my head and forgot about everything before drowning myself into the work and make sure my secretary didn’t enter my cabin again. I don’t care about anyone.
I entered the house only to see many of the lights are switched off as it is already midnight. I climbed the stairs and reached my room only to stop near the door seeing her sleeping with laying her head on the table and the food are already there.
“You are here! Is the work load is too much? You got really late today.” She continued to talk rubbing her eyes while I moved to the cupboard without saying a word.
“Come fast! I am really hungry.” She said when I stepped inside the shower, and again I didn’t reply.
“I am not hungry.” I said when she opened the coverings to serve and stopped in the middle hearing my words.
“Have a little food, Tajwar.” She mumbled pleading me and held my hand when I moved to walk away.
“I said I am not hungry.” I said harshly before removing my hand from her hold.
She slowly nodded and started serving herself before starting to eat while I walked near to the bed and lay down. I thought that she would say something else or say she too will not eat, but here she is eating food normally.
I shrugged to myself before drifting off into sleep, removing any thoughts from my head. However, I know the moment, I felt a hand touching mine, I am having the nightmare.
This time I didn’t want to let the comfort reach me and want to see the struggle so that I can remember what I should be like. I saw everything they torturing me again and again with knives while asking her to leave me and marry him.
But she never accepted, and in the end, he got so frustrated that the knife with which he was torturing me with was made used to slice her throat, and he ignored all my pleadings and shouts to not do it.
Suddenly, I felt like I cannot breathe anymore feeling it as a new after not getting it much for the past two months but then felt a warm reaching me.
I opened my eyes to see her hugging me tightly and controlling my moments. She just whispered continuously that everything will be ok, but didn’t leave me.
“I am awake.” I whispered, hearing which she slowly released me, and then I saw tears in her eyes.
“What happened?” I asked, frowning and moved to brush the sweat away.
“I really got scared when you did not even reply to my calls. If you want, you can take the tablets. I can’t see you suffering like this.” She said, brushing her tears away.
“I will not have them, and I am fine.” I said, assuring her and she nodded before moving away silently to the end of the bed.
“What happened now?” I asked her frowning.
“I don’t know why, but you are angry. So, I am trying to stay away before you shout at me again.” She replied hugging herself.
I slowly placed my hand on her before whispering “I shouldn’t have shouted.”
“No, sorry?” she asked, smiling at me.
“Never!” I replied, smiling a little and turned to sleep again, and she followed my suit while I wish I did something to save her that day.
*Mridula Pov*
“Mom! Dad!” I heard Aahil shouting and glanced at Aunty, who is frowning hearing the shouts.
We both walked outside the kitchen to see him grinning from one ear to other and walked near us in a hurry.
“What is it, Aahil?” Aunty asked him.
“I got a chance to get my dream, Mom. I need to work for two weeks, and the dream will be in my hands.” He said grinning, and I smiled at his happiness.
“You still need to do the work, Aahil. It is just a chance.” We heard a sound and turned to see uncle walking near to us.
“Abhivanth!” Aunty said in a hard tone while Aahil’s face fell from happiness.
“I am happy for him too, but these two weeks are crucial for him.” Uncle said before talking with Aahil about some other matters and slowly Aahil walked away saying he has some other work.
“Mridula! Why is Tajwar returning home late again?” Aunty asked in the evening, and I really have no answer to give her.
It’s been one week since he returned to the old self, and I don’t have any words to tell him. He talks normally, but his schedule changed again.
“I don’t know!” I replied honestly to which she shook her head in a slight disappointment making me feel scared.
“I think he said something about important work he needs to work on.” I immediately said which she accepted before walking away but the feeling of lying to her didn’t leave me.
Oh god! I thought, pacing in the room at night when I felt like something is choking me for lying with no reason. I already did it once with her, but that time I hid the truth, and here I lied.
“What happened?” I heard the voice but didn’t turn around suddenly feeling a little angry with him for making me do this.
“Nothing!” I replied before opening the tray and served him and myself before settling into a chair.
“Spill!” he said in the middle of having his food.
“It is stupid.” I said, shaking my head and didn’t even glance at him with just questions and solutions regarding how I can tell her the truth.
“Mridula! What is it?” He asked again breaking my thoughts.
“Why should I tell you? I don’t even know you.” I replied glancing up to stare at him feeling tired of his questions.
“What are you saying? You know me.” He said frowning.
“Not anymore! You are now like you were at the beginning when I didn’t know you and because of you, I lied to Aunty.” I said before explaining what happened.
“You are worried about this?” he asked in a disbelief tone.
“It doesn’t matter.” I mumbled to myself before finishing the food and took away the tray after he too finished it and returned only to see him standing in the middle of the room with his hands folded.
“What do you want me to do?” He asked, holding my wrist when I moved to walk around him and reach the bed.
“Why are you returning home late again? I asked you to take tablets if you want right? Or do you regret the days we spent together? Or do you hate me now for something I did?” I continued to babble until he stopped me with his lips pressing to mine.
“I am just dealing with something.” He said, pressing his forehead to mine.
“Is it finished?” I asked, placing my hand over his arm and trailed it up and down.
“No! But this will not continue.” He said, assuring me and I nodded before looking up to stare at his face.
“Ok!” I whispered, giving him a small peck, but he didn’t release me and kissed me again before moving us towards the bed.
“I missed you.” I whispered before hugging him, and he hugged me back a little.
“I am glad that his work got finished.” Aunty commented sighing in relief the next day when he returned early, after which, when I entered the room, the first thing, I did was kissing him before he could say anything.
“Mom! I did it.” We heard a very happy voice of Aahil after not seeing him regularly at all as he was very busy with all the work for the past two weeks.
“You mean you got the party ticket?” Aunty asked in a happy voice.
“Yes! I really got it.” He replied, and I nodded at Aunty’s gesture before walking inside the kitchen to prepare the sweet dish.
“We are going to have a party tomorrow evening, and the news will be released tomorrow morning to everyone.” I heard uncle saying along with praising Aahil, and I sighed thinking about the decoration but walked outside with a smile.
“It would be so good if Tajwar too could attend this party.” I heard Aunty saying in a sad tone, and I thought to myself whether can I make him attend it or will I get to fail like before.
