Chapter 63: Chapter 63

Gray continued to gaze at Aurel, who had been unconscious for nearly two days. Despite having her examined by a doctor, Gray remained restless until he was sure that Aurel would awaken.

"Do we need to call a healer from Wentira?" Brenda asked, but Gray shook his head.

"I don't want to deal with Wentira for now, even though I'm certain that Alpha King is aware of the chaos I caused in Plantea. I just want you to find another way," Gray replied, prompting Brenda to glance at Rex, who was equally concerned about Aurel's condition.

"The doctor said Aurel was exhausted," Brenda explained.

"Exhausted to the point of being unconscious for two days?" Gray questioned, prompting Brenda to sigh deeply.

"In that case, you better rest too during this week. You've been expending your powers aimlessly. After that, you can ensure Aurel's well-being," Brenda advised, and Gray nodded. She then took Rex out of the room, leaving Gray to do whatever he wished with his mate.

Gray extended his hand, gently caressing Aurel's face, which felt cold. He kissed her forehead, her cheeks, and her temple, lingering for a long moment. It had been almost two weeks since he had last smelled her familiar scent, and not being able to do so had been agonizing.

His movements ceased when Aurel slowly opened her eyes, causing Gray's heart to race.

"Aurel, are you awake?" he asked, and she looked at him in silence, seemingly trying to focus her gaze.

"Gray?" she eventually inquired, and Gray nodded.

"Yes, it's me, love," he replied.

"Am I dreaming?" Aurel asked, making Gray shake his head.

"No, you're not dreaming. I'm back with you, and we're together again. I'm sorry for being careless before and letting you be in danger," Gray said, and Aurel immediately embraced him tightly, tears streaming down her face. Gray could feel her fear through her sobs, which tore at his heart.

"I'm so sorry, Gray. I was scared," Aurel confessed, and Gray gently released himself from her hug.

"It's okay, Aurel. You were scared, and it's not your fault. I'm the one who should apologize for not protecting you better," Gray said, and Aurel shook her head in his embrace.

"I was scared, Gray, and it wasn't your fault. I just thought we'd never see each other again," she said, and Gray pressed his forehead against hers.

"I promise that will never happen. No matter what, I'll do everything in my power to get back to you," Gray assured her, making her cry even more.

"I'm so sorry for not being able to protect you properly," Gray added, gently wiping away the tears that flowed down her cheeks. Seeing her red eyes and trembling body filled him with anger. He couldn't stand to see his soulmate in such a state.

"Forgive me for not being able to keep you safe," he whispered, holding her tightly.

"I was scared, Gray, and it wasn't your fault. I just thought we'd never see each other again," Aurel repeated, her voice breaking as she clung to him.

Gray let go of their embrace and brushed the tears from her face, kissing her cheeks and forehead. He longed to smell the familiar scent of his mate, which he had missed so much.

"So, rest assured. I took care of the vampire who separated us," Gray informed Aurel, who looked at him with surprise.

"Vampire?" she inquired, and Gray nodded.

"Yes, the vampire who kidnapped you. He was Vlad, who locked you in his castle," Gray explained, and once again, Aurel gazed at him with her reddish eyes, her emotions reflecting on her face.

Aurel nodded, her eyes still locked onto Gray's. "During all that time, I never met him," she replied, causing Gray to raise an eyebrow in surprise.

"You never met that man?" Gray asked, and Aurel shook her head.

"While I was missing and imprisoned in that castle, it was Loma who took care of me. She treated me well, and I never encountered anyone named Vlad. Even though I tried to make Loma meet him, she didn't allow it," Aurel explained, making Gray exhale sharply.

"At least that man had the decency not to show his face to my mate. That's good; you'll never have to see him. I would truly be furious and annihilate him if he ever dared to touch you," Gray stated firmly, causing Aurel to fall silent. However, she soon gazed at Gray with a questioning look.

"What about Loma? Is she okay?" Aurel asked, her memories of Loma still fresh in her mind. She remembered the pain Loma had endured when her powers were drained and how she had saved her. Aurel couldn't help but feel guilty.

"Don't worry; she's been taken to the Ocean Territory. Lilit will take care of her and help her recover," Gray reassured her. Aurel let out a long breath of relief.

"Thank goodness. I would have felt so guilty if something bad happened to Loma. Even though she was with the one who kidnapped me, she never hurt me. She took care of me, kept me company during the boredom," Aurel admitted, causing Gray to fall silent.

"If you want, we can visit her," Gray suggested, but Aurel shook her head.

"For now, I don't want to leave the human world and return to that world that seems terrifying and suffocating to me," Aurel said, making Gray go silent. He respected her wishes. He couldn't help but wonder what would happen if Alpha King ordered them back to Wentira, but he pushed that thought aside for now. He would follow his soulmate's desires.

Gray leaned closer and pressed warm kisses onto Aurel's lips, savoring the taste he had missed so much. If he hadn't been holding back, Gray would have taken Aurel right then and there. However, considering Aurel's weakened state, he resisted the urge, merely kissing her passionately.

"I missed you," Aurel whispered, and Gray couldn't help but pull her even closer, their lips meeting again in an intense kiss. They couldn't seem to get enough of each other, and Gray was determined to make up for all the time they had been apart.

"Never disappear from my life again," Gray urged, his voice filled with love and longing, holding Aurel close as if he could protect her from anything that might try to take her away again.

Gray's embrace remained tight around Aurel as they shared their deep affection, relishing the closeness they had longed for. The scent of his beloved filled his senses, and he felt like he could finally breathe again.

However, their intimate moment was abruptly interrupted as the door swung wide open, revealing Brenda and Rex. Aurel was taken aback and started to get up from Gray's lap, but Gray firmly held onto her waist, as if he didn't care about Brenda and Rex approaching.

"Couldn't you knock? Don't you know I'm in the middle of reuniting with my mate?" Gray complained, making Aurel bury her blushing face against his shoulder.

"Aurel still needs rest, so it's better if you leave us alone," Gray added, but Brenda stared at him with a sharp gaze.

"We have to leave this house," Brenda stated firmly, causing Gray to raise an eyebrow.

"Alpha King has sent some guards to drag you back to Wentira immediately," Brenda explained, making Aurel turn her attention to their conversation with growing concern.

"Is that something bad?" Aurel asked, still feeling scared after her return from an unfamiliar world. She had no idea what they were talking about.

"I will stay with Aurel," Gray declared, his protective instincts kicking in.

"That's why we need to leave this place, or you might want to fight each of them one by one," Brenda replied, making Gray sigh with frustration.

"Is what Brenda said true? We can't possibly stand against the Alpha King's forces, especially with Aurel in her current condition," Rex said, gazing at the still pale Aurel, prompting Gray to do the same.

"In that case, should we move now?" Gray asked, and Brenda and Rex nodded in agreement. However, before they could act, Aurel looked at Gray.

"Will we be okay?" Aurel asked, and Gray nodded.

"Even if something bad happens, I won't let you get hurt. I'll make sure you stay close to me, and I won't let us be separated again," Gray replied, making Aurel nod in response. Despite her nod, Aurel couldn't shake the feeling that something worse awaited her, just like before, so she began to prepare herself.

Aurel didn't know where they should go or hide, but for now, she had to rely on Gray, with Rex being the closest thing she had to family. She glanced at Gray's house, which they were leaving behind. She also wondered about Rex's reason for not letting her meet Aunt Anna before they left. Gray drove the car, and they couldn't risk using their powers with Aurel around.

Occasionally, Gray looked at Aurel, who was staring out the window, as if fear had once again enveloped her. Gray knew that if Aurel was still traumatized by what had just happened and had to face a similar problem again, it would be very difficult for her.
