Chapter 6: Chapter 6

"Where should we run, Aurelya? Come on, think fast," I kept taking long strides, leaving the cafeteria behind, hoping the gray wolf leader wouldn't chase after me. Is that the meaning of his name? In a panic like this, how can I think about the meaning of his name? Oh well, what were his parents thinking when they named him? Did his parents also have unique names like theirs? Red Wolf or White Wolf, oh, whatever, Aurelya, you're overthinking. Now, think about where you'll go because the new class will start in twenty minutes. I can't just wait in the classroom for that long.

My steps came to a halt right in the middle of the corridor. Which way should I go? Ah, damn, I'm not good at remembering the layout. Oh yeah, signs and directions. What a dumbass. Why didn't I notice the signs earlier? Twenty minutes, that's the time I have. Alright, I guess it's enough time to take a look around NYHS's library. I was about to step forward following the directional sign to the library when my arm suddenly felt a pull, and I was shoved against the wall.

Ouch, my back hurts. Who's this jerk who has no manners towards women? I looked up and met his sharp gray eyes. Damn, he caught me.

"What are you doing here, bread delivery girl? Did any NYHS student order bread from your mom's shop?" he jeered with a thin smile, a very thin one on his lips. But I couldn't suppress my annoyance. I pushed back against his grip and turned to challenge his eyes.

"I already told you, I'm not a bread delivery girl. I have a name."

"Yeah, I remember, Aurelya. And you're wrong. You already told me your name," he said, now smirking. Don't be afraid, Aurel. He's just trying to intimidate you. I tried to control the trembling in my body and kept challenging him.

"Yes, and I don't care. Now get out of my way," I snapped, pushing his shoulder as he was pinning me against the wall. Damn, he didn't even budge.

"Don't you hear, Mr. Wolfin? Get out of my way," I said, annoyed, but it only made him smirk dismissively at me.

"Even though you know my name, you secretly admire me, huh? Well, I understand." Damn, damn, damn. How could I mention his name? My inner thoughts hit my head with a wooden beam. I'm so stupid.

"I don't think it's just a name. You must know who I am and the consequences if I mark you," he said, trying to intimidate.

"I only know your name. Don't read too much into it," good job, Aurelya. You managed to handle your nervousness with this wolf guy. What's he seeing? Come on, don't look at me like that. His gray eyes are quite captivating.

Alright, I admit, his eyes are beautiful with those hints of ash accentuating their sharpness. "Is there something wrong, Aurelya? Why is your face turning red?" he asked, making me touch my warm cheeks. Is my face actually red now? Damn, how did that happen?

"Are you fantasizing about something with me?" he accused, truly making me angrier. On what basis does he have such thoughts? Stupid jerk.

"Are you crazy? Why would I fantasize about something like that with you?" I retorted, getting even more annoyed. On what basis does he think of something like that?

"Guess you're not so sure. Maybe you are imagining things," he continued, his words infuriating me.

"I think you're out of your mind. Why would I imagine anything like that?" I said in exasperation, trying to push his shoulder again. But he remained unmoved. How do I get this guy to move away from me?

"Maybe you imagined being the woman with me at the swimming pool," he said, causing my eyes to widen. Could he have seen me with Jeni? How could he be so casual with his female friend?

Oh damn, because of his words, I started picturing the things they were doing in the pool.

"But sorry, you're not my type," he teased, stepping away from me and folding his arms, observing me from top to bottom before giving me a mocking smile.

Wait, wait, what did he just say? I'm not his type? Well, guess what, you're not my type either, damn it. I quickly turned to him as he walked away from me, seemingly headed back to the cafeteria.

How could I end up encountering a weird guy like him? I hope there's only one strange guy like him in NYHS, and no more wolves.

Oh, thanks to him, I even had to abandon my plan to go to the library and rush to find my class since it was starting in ten minutes. I didn't even realize that some people were now staring and whispering around me. Since when did the corridors around me get filled with other students? Don't tell me they noticed when the ash-colored wolf intimidated me. Ugh, it's so annoying. On my first day, I have to deal with this. Can I whine to Rex to transfer schools? Well, I guess not.

I sighed heavily and started walking to find my next class. Come on, Aurel, get that ash-colored wolf out of your mind. He's really disturbing.

"Aurel!!" someone yelled, causing me, who had just left the classroom, to turn towards the source of the sound. Yes, and I saw Jeni walking towards me.

"Hi!" I greeted warmly, as I would now consider Jeni my friend since she's the only one who's been talking to me.

"Is your class over?" she asked while looking at me putting some books into my backpack.

"Yes, how about you?" I asked, thinking she had gone home earlier.

"I haven't had a class for a while. I've been busy playing the violin," she replied, and I just noticed the bag in her right hand – it's a violin case.

"Why did you suddenly leave earlier? I thought you were hungry," she asked, making me look at her again.

"I just needed to find my next class early, you know I lost my way," I answered, trying to come up with another excuse because it's impossible to tell Jeni that the ash-colored wolf guy had marked me.

"Oh yeah, I forgot, but I saw Gray leaving the cafeteria not long ago, and I thought he was chasing after you," she said, making me blink several times.

"Haha, no way he was chasing me. I don't know him and I have nothing to do with him."

"Yeah, you're right," her answer relieved me, as she believed what I said.

We kept walking out of the NYHS building since I didn't have any classes left, and neither did Jeni. So, we decided to head home. If Maudy were attending school today, I might have tried the swimming pool, but as you know, Maudy isn't here.

"Aurel, did you bring your car?" Jeni asked when we were outside the building.

"No, someone's picking me up," I replied while looking around. It turns out the NYHS parking area is quite spacious, but my gaze stopped on several sports cars neatly parked on the right side.

Is the school having a luxury car exhibition? I wondered as I kept staring at those cars. There might be about ten cars with the same design.

"Aurel, are you listening to me?" Jeni's voice brought me back, and I couldn't help but wonder why my mind has been so unfocused lately.

"What?" I asked because I truly hadn't heard her.

"Are you daydreaming?" she asked.

"No, Jen, is our school having a car exhibition?" I asked, curious. Jeni furrowed her brows in confusion.

"What do you mean?"

"That!" I pointed to the luxury cars that had captured my attention, and Jeni followed my gesture.

"That? Of course not."

"Then?" I was even more curious.

"Those are definitely Gray's and his friends' cars. Haven't you seen the sign?" Jeni said, showing me a sign similar to a traffic sign but with "Gray's only" written on it. This confused me even more.

"So, only Gray and his friends can park there, and those are their vehicles," Jeni explained, making me want to leave this school even more.

"Don't be too surprised; this is just the beginning. After a week here, you'll start getting used to things like this, including Gray and his friends," Jeni said.

"What do you mean? It's not just these special treatments that the school gives them?" I asked, puzzled, and strangely, Jeni nodded in agreement.

"In the parking lot over there, you'll see luxury sports cars like these, or big motorcycles, or even antique cars. It changes according to Gray's mood."

"Do they ever use bicycles?" I asked, making Jeni chuckle.

"Yeah, maybe only in your dreams. No way, Aurel," Jeni said, causing me to huff. They should use bicycles sometimes so their minds get a little healthier.

I chose to sit on one of the staircase walls and wait for Rex to pick me up. Jeni had offered me a ride home, but that's impossible. Why is Rex taking so long? I checked my watch multiple times, and he was already ten minutes late.

"Aurel, waiting for someone?" someone's voice made me look up, and I immediately stood up when I realized who was addressing me.

"Good afternoon, Miss Brenda," I greeted.

"You haven't left yet?"

"Not yet, I'm waiting for Rex," I explained, and she nodded in understanding.

"Do you need a ride? Maybe Rex is busy," she kindly offered, but I didn't want to go through an awkward situation with her later.

"Thank you, Miss, I'll wait a few more minutes for him," I politely declined.

Before Miss Brenda could respond to my words, the sound of loud laughter filled the air as a group of students, all dressed similarly, emerged from the NYHS building. And, of course, it was Gray and his pack of wolves. They were walking towards their fancy, neatly parked luxury cars.

The next moment, I found myself gaping as Gray casually kissed the same girl he was making out with by the pool. It's like they do this all the time. It was utterly disgusting and shameless. After they were done exchanging saliva, I watched the girl leave the wolf pack.

"Don't be shocked; this is New York. I know it might be a bit different from Indonesia," Miss Brenda's voice brought me back to reality, and I could only awkwardly smile in response. Yes, I've rarely witnessed such things directly.

Beep beep!

The honk of a car made both Miss Brenda and me turn our heads. Luckily, Rex had arrived, so I wouldn't have to continue the conversation with Miss Brenda any longer.

"Sorry, did you wait long?" Rex asked.

"Not too long. Where were you?" I inquired, noticing that Rex was slightly sweaty.

"I had something to take care of earlier. Shall we head home now?" he suggested, and I nodded. But before I got into the car, I turned to Miss Brenda, who was observing Rex.

"Miss Brenda, thank you for your offer. It was nice talking to you," I said, and she finally broke her gaze from Rex and smiled kindly at me. As for Rex, he acted indifferent, as if he didn't care about Miss Brenda's presence. It turns out my cousin is a cold-hearted guy. How could he ignore a woman as perfect as Miss Brenda? Seriously.

Rex opened the car door for me before he circled the car and took his seat. I briefly glanced at the parking area where Gray and his pack of wolves were, and my eyes locked with his gray ones. Was he watching me? Since when?

Ah, whatever. I shrugged it off and decided to get into the car, giving a friendly smile to Miss Brenda before the car drove away from NYHS.
