Chapter 99: Chapter 99

"You are damn delusional,"

He ground his jeans against her sex through their clothes fast and rough, causing so much friction, her clit swelled and screamed for release.

She was a shuddering mess even as she stared at him breathlessly almost ready to kneel and beg him to free her of this torment.

Then he pushed off her and she watched him dazed not believing he was going to leave now she was buzzing and high and in need of a release.

"Frustrated huh?" He mumbled from the threshold of her open door, "That's exactly how I had felt when I had seen you so close to another man today."

"Ma'am, Jared sent this to you. He said they are urgent and he needs your review on them as soon as possible."

Her eyes skimmed the recorded report of the beta user of the application, jotting down features that seemed to need adjustments even though her mind was far away from the room as she was still dazed as a result of what had happened yesterday.

She had been extra mean to Jessica in the morning and was hell-bent on making sure Xavier Salvador doesn't affect any other part of her day because of the evil method he had used to punish her just because she had decided to eat with her boss while she waited for him.

She cared less now about not getting involved with him and was determined to get even, make him powerless, and crave her just like he had done her then leave too.

"Come in," she didn't even raise her head from her work even though she knew whoever she had asked to come in was inside already.

"Miss Luke," she looked up to meet Jared's eyes noting how formal and closed off he was being and not blaming him one bit.

Xavier had been outrightly rude last night and that should be enough red flag for him to make sure their relationship was strictly professional to avoid such misconception in the future.

"I'm sorry about yesterday." She looked anywhere at him even as she wrung her hand together nervously.

"It is okay. If I were in his shoes I'll probably act the same way."

"No, you won't!" She argued snapping her eyes to meet him. She haven't known Jared for so long but she could confidently say he was nothing like Xavier. Jared treated everybody with immense respect and politeness.

"You don't even know me." He had a slight smile tilt the corner of his lips as he watched her.

"I know enough to come to that conclusion Sir."

"Hope you are ready for the role you had agreed to play with me because we are going to be kick-starting that soon as a mode of publicity."

She gave him a confused look not understanding a word of what he was saying even as she sat up from her chair, an alarm bell going off in her head even though Jared had said nothing to provoke it.

"Maya, remember last night during the meeting when Tyler had asked if you'll be okay testing out the application first with me after its release."

"We have run many tests on it already but sure if that's what he wants we would run another test when it is being released," her eyes were fixated on her screen now as she went back to work.

"Maya, you were not listening both last night and today." He had a little smile on his face as his suspicion was being confirmed. He had been shocked when Maya had readily accepted to date him as a marketing and publicity strategy.

He wasn't stupid. He knew Tyler was trying to matchmake them and though he had told him plainly he won't be a part of his absurd revenge mission and had begged him repeatedly to just let things go, seeing Maya, talking to her made saying no seem hard, impossible even.

She was like a crack of light in pitch darkness and he knew she deserved better than Xavier. He wanted to be her better when she finally realize he wasn't the one for her, he wanted to be next to her when Xavier finally does what he does best, ruin people and bond not giving a fuck about their emotions.

He believed it was a miracle she was still with Xavier for months. Even the way they had met had left his mouth hanging.

"Yes," she admitted, a sheepish remorseful smile on her face, "I wasn't listening yesterday, I was shit tired and I tend to zone out when I'm a goner but I'm listening to you now."

"You should have listened yesterday because you agreed on going on a date with me, to practically try out the app. You understand a type of advert where we role-play. You act like a regular individual in search of love and then we meet, go on a few dates. Tell our story and get a few pictures. It is a wrap."

She gaped at him for long hours in utter disbelief, "I__ can't." She eyed him not believing he made the outrageous idea seem so natural and ordinary, "I'm engaged!"

"It isn't real Maya," his lazy drawl made her realize just how much of an issue she was making something that wasn't a big deal. But they didn't know Xavier. He had done all that yesterday because he had seen them both close together, she doubted he'll give her a thumbs up when he found out that they were going to be dating just for some promotional back story.

"I know," she swallowed hard, her mind in chaos, "Just that my fiancée can be a bit __"

"Protective, jealous? Possessive?" He stood up, "I understand perfectly well and he made that obvious to me well enough on our last meeting."

She looked at him, meeting his gaze as he sighed exasperatedly, "I'll hate it to tell Tyler to rearrange everything he had already set in motion thinking you are in because you are having a hard time trying to separate your work-life from your personal life," she rested her head on her seat groaning, "I know you don't need the job because hello who are we kidding? You are engaged to be married to a man who makes millions in minutes and could give you the world if you wanted that but if you want to work, if you love your job then he needs to cut you some slack. He needs to trust you and let you do your job."

She opened her mouth to try to say something but words couldn't come out because she had nothing to say.

He gave her a bright smile, "See you soon once you have decided what you want."

She hugged her body, standing up immediately the door shut after Jared already envisaging the displeasure in Xavier's eyes when he got wind of the recent happening she had readily agreed to.
