Chapter 59: Chapter 59

Maya wondered if she was going too far at her charade as her lips quivered, tears gliding down her cheeks while Jessica rubbed her back comfortingly.

She raised her head Peeking at him through her lashes, he looked disheveled and completely out of it.

Deciding to end his misery and Jessica's, she stood up and then glaring at him, she shook her head, "Now I think you are punished enough for calling me fat, undesirable, and not your type. What do you have to say?"

A smile teased Jessica's lips making Maya shocked while at this point Xavier was leaning on a chair, his eyes that of incredulity and wonder not knowing Maya had it in her to pull such a stunt.

"I'll give it to you, you have talent but I didn't know when I had seen the signs, you know your Pinocchio telltale but I decided that Xavier deserved to suffer too."

Xavier shook his head in utter disbelief that his backup had turned against him but at that moment he wondered what he was thinking not calling up her other friend, Jasmine who seemed saner.

But as Maya smiled at her, Xavier doubted that the events would have played out any differently.

Without knowing, a smile lit up his face at the thought of knowing that Maya had and knew people who cared so deeply for her and will fight the world for her. She needed protecting since she wasn't keen on doing that herself.

"I'm sorry you had the wrong impression of my insensitive joke and I didn't know about what you should never mention," Maya raised her brow at him in confusion and amusement.

"I've been teaching him some blacklisted topics that are sensitive no matter when and where, even in the bedroom," she wiggled her brow, "especially in the bedroom."

"And you know that because?" Maya raised her brow realizing that Jessica also had a non-existent sex life at least to the best of her knowledge.

"I know things like this Maya." Her casual answer "like that should make sense to anyone and only a dummy will ask her that," made Maya roll her eyes.

"The point is that I cherish you, I desire your body too. I put a ring on that ass, that should say something." Maya widened her eyes horrified while Jessica chuckled.

"I love every bit of you. There is Nothing I dislike or love less. Every part of my body, every pint of blood running through my vein is entangled in the mindless obsession that is you." She gasped at how his eyes looked so intense, then his lips moved towards her and for a second she expected his hot tongue on hers but he passed her mouth, muttering in her ears.

"I'm sorry Maya. Don't make me even more miserable."

She wondered how anyone could remain so angry at him, when he sounded so helpless, so genuine and his words even though she knew they were fake and might be borrowed words from a book, made her core throb and her body shivered.

As she dived into the dangerous Waters of imagining the immense pleasure, the thought of being truly loved by a man like Xavier will bring. A man who chose you not because he didn't really have a choice or not because of lack of willingness from the female department because she had seen how much influence he had on their senses.

"I__"

"Everything about you is so perfect. You have no idea. You want to eat all thirty pancakes, fine. It is even sexy."

She chuckled lightly at the goofy grin on his face when he kissed her forehead, He was already crouched at the side of the cushion she sat on, a real definition of groveling __ literally.

Jessica cleaned imaginary tears from her eyes as he hugged her while she settled her hand on his body, relishing the surreal moment she didn't want to end.

Jessica grabbed her bag and then smirking, she stood up.

"I need to go. Unlike my boss, we have jobs we might be fired from if we don't report soon."

"You are excused. I spoke to your supervisor, she knows you are with me." He wasn't in a hurry to leave Maya's embrace, to lose the heat of having her soft body flushed against his.

"Wow, I'll be having a lot of rest then." She batted her eyelashes, "Acting mediator for my boss in his relationship, have perks I can get used to."

"Forget it. I know better than to call you when next we fight. You are no help."

Maya arched her brow, "We ain't over this and you are already fired up for another fight."

Xavier shrugged, "Make-up sex won't be possible if there are no fights and they are the best."

Jessica grinned, "That is another thing I know too and this is my cue to leave because going by the look you both have on, I'm getting in-between some hot serious sex." Winking, she strode out of the room.

They both stared at her retreating figure and sure she was gone, they put a distance between them, but they still had a smile on their faces.

"We had a fight and your best resort was Jessica?" Maya's brow was raised as she tried to disguise how flushed and bothered just talking about having sex with Xavier had made her.

"I know better now, Jessica is the crazy one. Noted."

"And the most suspicious. Any slipups between us and she'll suspect that this isn't real."

"She caught you just now even with all your expert pretentious game."

She huffed, "What are you trying to imply?"

He took a step towards her, a beautiful smile on his face that made her heart dance and was dangerous to her making her wonder why he never played fair, "I'm trying to say that what if we have stopped acting like couples but now, are couples. Your friend is obviously smart, so smart that she caught you but she doesn't smell a thing between us."

Her eyes widened.

"Chill I'm just joking," he shook his head at her in disbelief, amused.

But her brain, her mind, and her heart which was beating so fast she feared it might jump out of her body and land on the white tiles in front of her didn't get that memo as the thought of how real their arrangement was getting was all she could think of.
