Chapter 19: Chapter 19

He looked at her frustrated. How could she compare herself with Skylar, his kitten was damn smart, fucking intelligent, beautiful, sexy, and yet for some fucked up reason he couldn't grasp, she wanted to be Skylar?

"I do sound pathetic if you are desperately trying to butter me up. But I am not that damn tipsy yet." She whispered Accompanying her statement with a peal of dry laughter as she placed her hand on his chest for support.

"I don't know about pathetic, but I am damn angry with you." He draped his hands around her waist securing her around him.

She sighed smiling sadly.

"That's all you feel when you are with me."

No, I get horny, confused, intrigued, weak, he wanted to reply but he couldn't because he knew she won't believe him since he has been a fucking douchebag since he met her.

He just held on to her, pretending that she would have willingly been in his arms if not that she was gone.

Her lipstick was out, and it wasn't wonder, after their little make-up session, but yet as he watched her slightly parted kissable pink lips he realized she was still perfect.

"I just want you to want me." She whispered leaning her head completely against his chest, her eyelids slowly closing, and with a ghost of a smile, she fell asleep.

Maya slowly opened her eyes surprised to see two very curious faces blocking her vision.

She felt like crap, her head was aching, no scratch that relentlessly pounding and felt heavy.

She groaned grumpily.

"Personal space guys." She whispered, with a screechy Dry voice.

Glad they got the message and withdrew their faces, she sat up holding her head.

"Waking up to that is damn creepy," Maya whispered.

"How are you feeling?" Jessica asked ignoring her comment.

Jasmine narrowed her eyes at her immediately she asked the question.

"She passed out yesterday because of how wasted she was, of course, she feels like shit right now!"

Maya smiled tightly at Jasmine for sparing her the effort of having to answer Jessica even though feeling like shit was a mild way of describing how she felt. It felt like a psychotic drummer had rented a space in her head.

Jasmine handed her a tablet of pain reliever and a glass of water which she immediately gulped down.

She had barely dropped the glass when Jessica threw a pillow at her playfully grinning sheepishly, with curiosity written all over her, an expression mirrored on Jasmine's face also.

"What?" She asked raising her brow at them.

"You two-timing lucky slut! Xavier personally carried you back with his arms around you. Get the picture. You were cradled in Xavier's fucking arms. So you better tell us everything like what the fuck! When did you start going out with your no our sexy as sin boss? Why didn't you tell us? Are we still friends? What is happening here, girl?" Jessica ranted.

Jasmine blinked starring at Jessica surprised she could rap out all those words without breathing in between.

Maya just stared at her, completely lost not knowing what she was yapping about excitedly.

The only thing she could remember was heading to the club with Tyler. At the club, he had suggested she needed alcohol to loosen her nerves and ease into the clubbing spirit. Besides, he had stated she needed alcohol for her to execute a task when Xavier arrives.

She had been confused but she had played along but the rest of the events after she had taken the third glass of vodka he had offered her was lost to her and she certainly couldn't remember seeing Xavier.

"God he is hotter in person! I would have personally jumped him if not that I work for him and don't want to get fired on the account of being a freak and sued for all I am worth for sexual harassment..... But God that man's ass makes it seem like a worthy enough risk." Jasmine sighed, a dreamy look on her face.

Maya held her throbbing head groaning, as she desperately tried to remember even a flicker of any image that correlates with what they were saying but her Brain was blank.

"So tell us please." Jessica urged. Insensitive to the visible fact that she looked like crap.

"I didn't go out with Xavier, I went out with Xavier's brother." Her voice was a little scratchy whisper but they heard her.

They both frowned.

"But I am certain that was Xavier who came to drop you at home except he has an identical twin. But shouldn't it be illegal for another person to own such a body and face? But does he?" Jessica asked nudging Maya impatiently.

Maya frowned, though Tyler was in on the Salvador's attractive genes he looked nothing like Xavier. While the former had a playful, flirty edge to his looks Xavier's were intense, disturbingly hot, and forbidden.

"They are not identical."

"But is his brother good-looking?" Jessica asked wagging her brow suggestively.

Jasmine glared at her.

"Focus Jess, stop digressing from the main subject."

Jessica ignored her, still looking at Maya expectantly.

Maya nodded.

"Yes. Very." Jessica sighed at her admission with dreamy eyes.

"Get out of my dream already! What are you doing in there? Two sexy brothers after you? Now, this is the life." Jessica said.

Maya rolled her eyes.

"They are not after me Jess. I don't even remember seeing Xavier there too." She stated.

"I don't get why you can't remember anything at all." Jasmine thoughtfully whispered.

Maya smiled despite her hangover state.

"Remember that thing that happened to me once at Logan's birthday party in college when I drank too much and got knocked up and couldn't remember anything that happened temporarily, I think it happened yesterday night...." She trailed off knowing they have already figured out what was happening owing to the frown on their faces.

They both groaned in unison.

"Hey, you guys used to think it was a blessing." She said smirking.

"It is when it isn't Xavier fucking Salvador." Jasmine pouted while Maya smiled amused.

Maya didn't share their sentiment with them, if Xavier had shown up at the club and somehow she had ended up in his arm when she passed out, then well it was a fucking blessing that she couldn't remember anything because she could bet that she must have done or said something embarrassing with her luck or rather lack of it.

Glad and not in a hurry to know what it was, she stood up gingerly groaning at her aching muscles, her body felt like she had a terrible accident that had left her with concussions and a head that needed stitches.

Her jelly-like legs swayed and she groaned sitting back on the bed.

"Hangover is a bitch." She huffed frustrated.

"Hope you remember that when next you decide to knock yourself out again." Jessica maliciously retorted, still holding a grudge that she forgot everything that happened.

***

Xavier stared at Maya not able to look away even though he knew he looked like a creep as she worked oblivious to his probing eyes.

He could still remember how good her curvy soft body had felt against his. The lingering scent of her honey feminine fragrance that had intoxicated him and just starring at her sleepy vulnerable state he knew he was in trouble and couldn't hold her a second longer without acting out of line and that's why he had quickly taken her home.

He starred at her again amused at the way she squinted her eyes as she focused on her computer screen. Though what intrigued him was that he had thought she would have been embarrassed to see him after everything that she revealed to him or even worst try avoiding him but she was going about her work normally.

It was either she didn't remember what had happened or she was doing a great job at pretending but he was aware that pretending wasn't one of Maya's greatest suits. So the first option seemed more reasonable.

As if on cue, she knocked on his door.

He nodded at her and she opened the door coming in.

She placed some files on his desk and then bit her lower lip, something he now knew was a mannerism she exhibited when nervous but yet it still made her lips irresistible, as he couldn't help but imagine tasting those luscious lips of hers again.

He smiled amused noticing the familiar glint of determination in her eyes as she straightened to what he thought, she found a formal posture but only made her look sexy in her form-fitting black skirt.

"I saw your mail sir and I am afraid to inform you that I can't be available as your date to the charity ball that the company was invited to so I regretfully decline." She politely stated.

He had informed her via email that she was going to be his date some minutes ago and he didn't care about her response because he had meant it as an order, not a request.

"What will you be occupied with?" His eyes were still on his computer screen while he lazily stretched his body in a relaxed posture on his chair.

"I would be out with my friends. We already have weekend plans on the beach. It is going to be an exclusive girl's outing."

The thought of her in a bikini on display angered him as he sat up glaring at her.

"It is an order, not a date. So just show up, look pretty and be by my side." He snapped dismissively going back to his work.

"Is that all women are to you?" She whispered, her eyes hardening as she could remember her stepfather muttering something so similar to her.

"All you females can do is show up and look pretty, be by a man's side and make him look good." Tears sting from her eyes at his grip on her ear.

"You get that?" She nodded as tears glided down her cheeks.

Xavier looked up to meet her brown eyes swirling with disgust, anger, and another emotion he just couldn't figure out.

"Are women just like shiny trophies for you to show off, draping your arm around them making you look good? Don't you have regards for their feelings or their fucking life?" She asked her voice raised.

He raised his brow at her sudden outburst.

She just shook her head disappointed as tears stung her eyes.

"You disgust me." She whispered and with that, she turned, attempting to leave but he wouldn't have her leave like that.

Swiftly, he rushed grabbing her from behind and pushing her towards him. His erection poking her.

"Do I now?"

"What are you doing?" She asked internally grateful that she didn't stutter even though she sounded breathless.

"Trying to make you remember how non disgusted by me you were yesterday." He whispered into her ears.

She shivered as his hot breath fanned her exposed skin thanks to the uptight bun she had decided to pack her hair into.
