Chapter 138: Chapter 138
Two months later.
"I fulfilled the part of your request by not letting anyone know where you are but don't you think it is time to fulfill mine."
Maya sighed softly even as she remembered that day she had run back home to grab a change of clothes unaware of where she was heading but knew she needed to get away. Ashley as usual has probed and asked, always curious and she didn't know when she had broken apart and told her she needed to get away.
No questions asked Ashley had handed her keys to a condo in Boston and although she was tempted to ask her how she had an apartment there or why she didn't make there her residential area, she also didn't want to ask questions seeing that Ashley didn't.
She had ran and hidden away wanting to sort her thoughts and had made Ashley promise not to tell anybody where she was.
She adjusted her body on the Queen size bed, remembering how surprised she had been to meet a well-furnished condo at the address Ashley had sent her and how after that she had gotten another number that only Ashley had. Ashley had over the past two months reported to her how the ad promotions were still on hold and how the website's official release was still pending, she informed her of how worried Jessica and Jasmine were and how many times Jared has come looking for her.
Surprisingly last week she had called to tell her that Tyler had come looking for her too and that was all the information she had received.
Yet, there was nothing from Xavier. He was the first person she asked after the minute she connected with Ashley and yet though she had news about everybody the one person she wanted to hear from, was silent.
"What is it, Ashley?"
"It is time to come back home."
"Why? Is Jessica still set on going to another Police station to report me missing or does Jared still come to the house believing I'm in there somehow?"
"That is still happening but more than that, you need to come back home because there is so much closure to be done here, many people to see and talk to."
Maya disconnected the call.
What was heartbreak? she thought as she lay back on the bed. She thought she had felt it that the night she had caught her boyfriend cheating on her with her best friend.
No, it wasn't. She had felt betrayal or maybe a mix of shock and hurt but was very much aware that it wasn't heartbreak because she had run into Jason a few weeks ago in a mall and she had felt nothing. The anger had vanished and in its place just disappointment.
He had pretended not to see her but she had walked up to him and her very pregnant best friend. Seeing the wedding ring nestled on her finger, she had wished her well in her married life and she had meant it.
Maybe she would never completely forget the betrayal and would never be friends with her, it felt liberating walking out of the mall that day and knowing that chapter of her life seemed closed enough.
But that realization had only made her realize just how strongly she felt for Xavier. They told you you'll feel hurt, anger, denial, then self-pity when you are heartbroken but what nobody said was that you have to go through that awful feeling every day of your life, you'll have to live with it and just wished it'll go away but knowing that you also needed that ache to prove to yourself that you are still alive.
She'd not felt that way after Jason heck Xavier was all that occupied her mind back then and nothing has changed to date.
Ashley was right it's time she stopped hiding. She needed closure and she needed to give answers to people who needed it and apologize to those she had wronged. It was time to stop running and start facing every chapter of her life.

"You're an okay guy I guess," Xavier shrugged while Jared smirked sipping his cup of coffee.
He and Xavier have surprisingly gotten closer over the past few weeks. First, he had invited him over for drinks, then food, and here they were sharing coffee like they were buddies.
"Okay guy!" He snorted, "I'm one of the best people you would ever come across."
Xavier chuckled not believing how easily it came to him. How most things come to him easily these days, like sleeping and eating though the ache in his heart remained but like Melissa said he was giving Maya all the time in the world to listen to her heart. He was hoping she comes back into his life and if she didn't, he was prepared to keep on loving her no matter how painful and unbearable it becomes.
"Maybe," he admitted, his face now serious, "You tried to save I and Maya's relationship even though you have feelings for the same girl and that's some serious heroic thing to do. I doubt I could ever be that man."
"I and Maya's relationship didn't ever stand the chance as you say and though I developed feelings they weren't to be compared to yours." Jared admitted sipping his coffee, "Though I just wish she'll switch on her phone, answer her messages, let us know she is fine."
"She is." Xavier randomly mumbled, "And her phone is on but she doesn't want to be reached."
"How do you know?"
Xavier glanced at him, "You think I'll be here having coffee and agreeing to you being a great guy if I wasn't assured Maya was safe and fine?" He cocked his brow at Jared and shook his head with a mock disappointing sigh escaping his lips, "My intels were able to track her down."
Jared stood up, grabbing his keys, "Why are we still here, let's go get her."
"Go get her? How exactly do you get someone that doesn't want to be gotten?"
"Xavier__" Jared eyed him in confusion.
"I don't know where she is."
Jason's brows were furrowed in confusion.
"I didn't let them tell me. I knew I wasn't strong enough to know and still stay away." He sipped more of his coffee calmly even as Jared took his seat back.
"Why?"
Xavier smirked, "I've always been the one giving ultimatums, playing cheap tricks just to have Maya In my life and I never learned to love the right way. I want the next time I meet Maya should be of her accord because after then I'll never let go. But she needs to reach out first. I want her to realize just how much power she has over me as I her."
Jared looked away then looked at Xavier and smiled. He wouldn't be able to fully understand Xavier and Maya's love but he just wanted the guy to be happy. Wanted them to be happy.
"So lunch a day before yesterday and coffee today?" He raised his brow, "We just might start wearing matching outfits and giggling about boys soon."
Xavier guffaws, "Don't get any idea, we ain't friends."
Jared shrugged, "But you are giving me ideas," he mumbled in a sing-song manner.
Xavier chuckled, loving the sound of his laughter.
