Chapter 109: Chapter 109

Trouble in paradise?

She huffed exasperated, "Say whatever you have to say, Mr. Salvador, I have work to do," she muttered pointing at the stack of files on top of her desk.

He smirked while she rolled her eyes.

"It is Mr. Salvador now huh? That's how we want to act now, all formal and courteous." He showed off his pearl set of teeth as he burst into a peal of laughter making her moisturize her lips wondering what he was so angry about.

"I'm sorry for disturbing your work." He enunciated the word work and she raised her brow confused. "That is if that's what is still done here."

"Excuse me."

"You are excused," he sneered, "But before you do that, please do oblige me this request and answer when where you planning to tell me that I was going to be greeted with this, the minute after having your mouth around my cock." He threw an envelope at her but she didn't bother looking at him, as her eyes widened in alarm at the words he included in his maddening outburst.

She peered through the blinds and Jessica was very much focused. Way focused, she would have bought her act if not that the damn hallway was also way too quiet. Jessica had probably heard that and God knows who else knew where her mouth had been earlier today.

"Why are you here again, Xavier?" Surprising herself with how composed she was being, she folded her hand and waited for his reply.

"We are coming around now, ain't we? We are back to first name basis again," he brought out his hand, grinning, "Maybe we should just do a do-over, introduce ourselves once again, and just maybe, I might just consider the betrayal I face today as one done by my newly met acquaintance not my fucking fiancée!" At this point, Jessica had ditched her facade and was full on eavesdropping on them and being obvious about it and Xavier's raised voice didn't make her work hard at all.

"Xavier," she warn in-between gritted teeth, "You need to calm down or we sort this at home. This is not an environment conducive for trashing the tiniest bit of insecurity you feel."

"Wow, that was so rich." He hoarsely whispered while she closed her eyes praying more hurtful words like that don't slip out of her lips.

"Look I'm sorry, Xavier."

"Are you?"

His gaze met the envelope still untouched, "Pick up the fucking envelope and tell me what the content inside of it actually means? He was going to kiss you in that fucking picture," Maya's eye widened as she quickly grabbed the envelope, impatiently ripping it apart as four pictures came flying into different corners in the office because of the manner she had opened the envelope.

She picked up a picture of her resting her head on Jared's shoulder, shaking her head. "No, no no." She chanted.

She picked up another and her eyes almost bulged and she would have shouted the picture was fake if not that she remembered that damn moment when he had leaned in, but not to kiss her but whisper in her ear.

"This is not what it looks like Xavier."

He scoffed, "Those words are so cliche. I expect something more creative."

"How did you get your hands on those? Who took these?" She whispered, closing the gap between them and was stunned into tears as he took a step backward like he was appalled by her.

"I don't know who took those but I know who paid your man. I think Tyler did."

Maya shook her head, "I know you both don't like each other," tears pool in her eyes "But why accuse him of something despicable!"

"And what is so despicable about finding a good picture for his new trashy ad to aid his dumb dating website?"

She gasped rushing towards her computer and logging online and glaring at her was the picture of her and Jared Ranking number 1 in trending topics.

"I, Xavier I had no idea__"

"Tell me you had no idea about all this and you didn't agree to humor this sick bastard and pretend to be someone's girlfriend in some act and I'd believe you despite every evidence I come across that states otherwise," she met his eyes and it was almost like he was pleading for her to lie. "I'd get you a dozen of flowers and kneel to apologize to you for this drama."

She looked away and he smirked, "That's what I thought," and then sparing her one last glance like she had thrust an arrow into his heart, he walked out.

Before she could process her thought and remember she needed to be calm, think this over, and not show any sign of weakness, especially in the damn lobby of her workplace she was rushing after him, because well she was wrong as always. She would always remain Xavier's assistant who ran after him all the fucking time.

***

She stared at Xavier's retreating figure distraught wondering why she had even bothered. His long strides were normally hard to catch up with and now he sauntered out in red fury? She had been kidding herself.

"Trouble in Paradise?" She turned and met the very person who had flipped her life and had made the early hours of the morning seem like years ago when everything was not all perfect with her and Xavier because that was unachievable. But they were in an agreeable position but now he stared at her as one would a total stranger because of the one man in front of her who looked like he was perplexed as to what was going on in front of him.

Fucking Tyler Salvador.

"Tyler," she started ditching formalities not even giving a fuck that workers were practically gawking at them and eating every word that left her lips. She had crossed the line, the minute she had run after Xavier like some crazy woman and just wanted to make the gossip about her epic. They deserve that much for their efforts anyways and whatever they were leaving their workload to focus on should be worth their time, right?

"Did you have a picture of me and Jared taken without our consent and did you post the advertising article without giving me a heads-up?"

He looked at her like she had grown two heads overnight and he had no idea what she was going on and on about. "I did, Maya. Is there a problem?"

She chuckled.
