Chapter 31: Chapter 31

I worked so hard for the past month. I need to because I need to feed myself. Although Edward is helping a lot, I want to don't abuse his kindness. I helped him manage the farm and the mansion. His daughter became very dependent on me, I liked that. She is always my stress-reliever. Behind the happiness and contentment, I am feeling right now, I still want to know what happened to Cristel and Alfredo. To Henry too.

Did he come back already? Is he okay? Is he looking for me? Did he and Sonia already marry each other? I don't think so. If they did, I am in my time right now.

Does he remember me? I missed him so much. Every night, I looked at the night sky to remember our first date on 'our' place. It's been a month, everything changed quickly. I don't what is happening now in the town I left.

"Aliyah, can you clean the bathroom?"

I heard Edward called me, he is in the main bathroom of the mansion. I went there, he is on the door and looking at the dirty bathtub.

"Can you clean this up? I will have my visitors later," he said then looked at me.

I nodded. He is kind and very gentlemanly, but he is always making me feel our distance. He is the boss, and I am just his worker. At first, he was very friendly and as time goes by, I notice that he is distancing himself from me. I even heard him talking to his daughter about not getting too attached to me. I don't get that.

After cleaning the bathroom, he told me to go to the backyard arrange some things. For the past month, he gave me a decent room inside the mansion to sleep, just like what Cristel and her family did to me. But still, he's giving me my full salary every day. I am very lucky.

"Did you cook already the food I said to you?" he asked me while we are cleaning in the barn.

"Yes, all that you said. I made a dessert too," I answered.

"Good, thank you. They are big guests of mine. I want everything organized. They are the possible investors of my farm. I made you work the whole, you can now if you want," he said without looking at me.

"It's fine. It's my job to give you help." I smiled at him even though he can't see it.

"Rest now, Aliyah. I'm going to be fine here. I will need you again later."

I nodded and took my rest. I take a bath before I lay my body on my soft bed. I missed talking to Cristel, how is she?

Does she have a baby bump already? I know we are in the same town, but I decided to distance myself from them. I don't want to happen something bad to them. It's better like this.

I can't tell how I made myself fell asleep. I just woke up when I felt something caressing my face. I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was Edward. I immediately get up and rubbed my eyes to wake up my soul. He is smiling at me.

"My visitors are almost here. They are on their way to the mansion. Get the table ready," he said then just left.

I arranged the dining table, fast. It was almost dinner time. The sun is now setting. I slept for almost 2 hours. I really tire myself.

"You don't have to be here if you don't want. If already arrange the table, you can go to your room or even outside. It's okay," Edward said.

"I will take care of Eunice so that she can't interrupt anything," I volunteered.

"I really need that. Thank you," he said.

I fed Eunice her food then helped her cleaning her body. I heard that Edward's visitors were already downstairs. I need to tuck Eunice first to bed before I can leave her.

"Aliyah, can I call you 'mama?" she asked while I am fixing her bed.

I looked at her. "You can't call me 'mama' because I am not your mama." I smiled at her.

"But you are Aliyah and my mama's name are Aliyah too. You can be my mama," she said then pouted her lips.

"You can't replace your mama. Your papa will be mad if you are thinking of replacing her. Whatever happened, even if she's gone now, she will be your mama forever. Do you understand me?" I carried her to bed.

"Yes, but you are acting like my mama. I just thought you want to be a mama to me," she said before lying on her bed.

"Because I care for you, and I need to that because that's my work," I said then kissed her forehead.

"Don't leave yet Aliyah. Stay with me until I fell asleep." She held my hand the closed her eyes.

"I won't leave you," I whispered to her ears.

I hummed a song to help her fall asleep. She is hugging her favorite stuffed toy. After I made sure that she is dead to sleep, I fixed her comforter then quietly sneak out from her room.

I used the path that was hidden from the living room to go to the dirty kitchen of the mansion to clean the dishes. From here, I can still hear them chatting about some stuff that I don't understand. I sighed then finished what I am doing.

The stars are very bright this night, the moon is giving too much light too that it doesn't need a lamp or a candle to light the path towards the barnyard. Just like the first time I and Henry had a date. How I wish that he is looking at this sky too and remembers me. I really miss him. I hope I could see him again before I leave this time. Because after that, I can never see him again even if I want to.

I turned my back and started to walk when I decided to go inside the mansion. I sighed. Another had passed and hope is slowly fading away.

I stopped walking when I saw a very familiar figure. My heart started to beat fast. My breathing became irregular. I can't think properly by now. I feel like I was...

I shook my head. I am dreaming, my desire to see him is haunting me until in my dreams. I wiped my tears and tried to walk again but I just can't. I want just to stare at him because I am scared that the apparition will be gone.

He was smiling at me. We are having the same reaction. He looks so overwhelmed. I want to hug him, but I know if did that, he will disappear just like in my other dreams.

He slowly walks towards me. I lowered my eyes, trying to wake up myself. I smelled his scent; I swear this is not a dream.

I look up at his face, he is still smiling while there's a hint of a tear in his eyes. I cried when I gently touched his eyes. He didn't disappear.

"Aliyah," he called me then held my hand that was touching his face.

"I am not dreaming, right? This is not a dream. Are you real?" I asked while my tears are flowing. I don't if he understands what I said.

"I am here, this is not a dream anymore." He kissed my hand. I can feel his warmth.

The moon is giving us enough light to see each other's faces.

"I thought I will never see you again," I said then continued to touch him. I can't believe that this is happening now.

"I found you now, I never stop looking for you. I didn't lose hope. My heart will always find you," he said then pulled me closer to him.

"I missed you so much. I love you, Henry. I love you." I kissed him; I can't stop myself anymore.

He stopped me. "I love you too, Aliyah. I will never lose you again. I can't lose you. I just died when I did.”

He kissed me, passionately. The moment I've been praying for. God answered me on time.
