Chapter 29: Chapter 29

It was a big mistake of mine. For the nth time, I fell for him again. I shouldn't say that. I should not tell that I love him. I gave him again too much hope.

"He kissed you?!" Cristel exclaimed.

"And I kissed back." I was frustrated right now. What if someone saw us?

"That was really dangerous, Aliyah. Sonia has many ears and hands on the town," she said.

"I know, I should have pushed him more. And I shouldn't kiss back!" I am a very problematic person. I push yet I pull.

"Let just pray that no one saw you. We are done if Sonia hears about what you did." Cristel was very calm but I know she's also worried about what will happen.

"What if something happened to your parents because of what I did? I know you will get mad at me, but can you forgive me?" I asked her in case something bad happen.

"I don't know, Aliyah. My family is my everything, if something happened to them, I don't what will I do," she answered.

She will not forgive me I know.

Henry left for the mission; I don't know when he will come back. It means that I need to stay a little longer here. He wanted me to send him off, but Sonia was there too, and all I did the day he was about to leave was to look at him from afar. I gave him a letter telling him everything he needs to know except the truth about my existence. I hope he understands by now why I keep on pushing him away.

The next day, I decided to go to the market alone. I volunteered to buy some supplies while Cristel was with Alfredo's house. Only her parents were left in the mansion.

"How much the kilo of the cabbage?" I asked the vendor.

They are many people in the market and everyone is very busy. It's market day, I think. They said that the prices of the products this day are much lower than any other day. I bought a lot of products with my money.

It took an hour and a half for me to finish buying things. I just walked my way home. From afar, I can see a lot of people are in front of Dela Fuente's mansion. There's also a police car and an ambulance. I started running, my heart beats irregularly. There's something wrong.

"What happened?" I asked the person who is on the outside part of the crowd.

"The Dela Fuentes were shot to death," he said.

My eyes went wide, I almost lost my balance. Oh my god! No, this is not true!

"You are lying!" I said to that person.

"Why would I? It is real. I think they are dead for an hour by now. The police said that they received a call from an unknown number on their telephone, saying that there is a crime that happened in Dela Fuente's mansion. They first thought that it was only a prank call but still they decided to check, and they found their body soaking on their own blood," he said.

I am feeling nothing right now. Who did that? Obviously, it was Sonia, they killed them. But I cannot accuse them just like that. I don't have any evidence but the old diary that is also lacking information.

Where's Cristel? I need to find her.

I stood up and leave my things. I am about to run towards Alfredo's house when I saw him running towards me.

"Where's Cristel?" we asked each other.

I creased my forehead. "You are with her, right?"

He nodded. "Yes, but she said she wanted to go home so I let her."

I came near to him. "Is she inside the mansion?" I whispered.

"She is but they said only her parents were shot. So, there's a chance that she is still alive and just hiding inside," he said.

"We need to get her."

He nodded. "I really need to get her. I need to make sure she is safe. If she witnessed who killed her parents, the killer will target her next."

"Right." I agreed to his plan. We don't really know if Cristel is still inside the house.

When the police are gone and the body of the couple was brought by an ambulance to undergo an autopsy, we secretly sneaked inside the mansion. I searched in the rooms while Alfredo is in the garden.

"Cristel, it's me, Aliyah. Come out now, we are going to get you," I whispered in every room.

I am done searching her room and her parents' room but still no sign of her. I lastly searched my room where I heard a little sob coming from the bed. There, I saw her under the bed, her hand was on her mouth preventing a loud sob to come out from it.

"Cristel, it's okay." I tried to reach her, but she just pushed my hand.

I called Alfredo to get her. When she saw her boyfriend, she immediately hugged him so tight. There's blood on her dress and hands.

"Are you hurt?" Alfredo asked her softly, not wanting to scare her.

"My parents are dead, aren't they?" she asked while still crying.

Alfredo carried her to his arms. She is still crying; I don't want to talk because I can feel she is going to blame me for everything.

"We need to get out of here. It is not safe for you to be here anymore. I need to hide you somewhere," Alfredo said while we are on our way to his own car.

"My parents, I don't want to leave them, Alfredo. My Mama and Papa, please, let me see them. I need to see them," she said and tried to escape in Alfredo's arms.

"No, Cristel. I need you to listen to me right now, you are in danger. You probably saw who killed your parents." Alfredo put her in the backseat of the car.

"Yes, it was Sonia and his father," she whispered then glared at me.

She started crying again. "It is all your fault! You killed my family, we helped you! They welcome you to our house! We feed you! But you just killed them! I loathe you; I will never forgive you!" She was shouting and I am afraid that someone might hear us.

"Calm down, Cristel. No one wanted what happened," Alfredo said. "Hop on, Aliyah." He looked at me.

"No, Alfredo! I don't want to be with her anymore!" Cristel pushed me away.

I nodded.

"Cristel, you are too emotional right now. Aliyah is still your friend. We can't leave her here," Alfredo said trying to convince her.

She shook her head. "She is not my friend anymore; I want her out of my life. I don't want to see her again!"

I looked at her. "I am so sorry, Cristel. I don't want this to happen. I will make sure that your parents will get a decent funeral."

"Aliyah, we can't leave you here." Alfredo came near me.

"You can, take care of her. Make sure she is going to be safe," I said.

He sighed. "I really need to do that. She is... She is pregnant, Aliyah."

I became shocked at his news. I smiled. "Really? Congratulations!"

So, she is my grandma, and she is carrying my father in her womb.

"Please make sure that the baby will grow right. Don't let something bad happened to them. Thank you," I said, and my tears fell.

"Yes, I will do everything to protect them. You are going to be alright?" he asked for the last time.

I smiled and hugged him. If something bad happened to them I will be gone forever.

"Goodbye, Aliyah."
