Chapter 27: Chapter 27
I smile at myself in the mirror, my wedding dress flowing around me as I smooth the materials out. A kick against my hand brings my attention to my protruding stomach, feeling my babies move around inside me. Abby had already left once she made sure I am dressed and ready to go, saying she would send Blue and Zack up. My red hair is twisted into an intricate updo, a crown made with fall leaves holding the veil in place. A knock on the door brings me from my thoughts, Blue and Zack stepping in with a smile on their faces.
"Amberle, you look beautiful." Blue states, Zack looking like he is holding back tears. I can see the pride in my brother's eyes, his deep blue gaze exactly like mine watering.
"Zack?" I question gently.
"I wish mom and dad were here to see this." He says, crossing the room and hugging me, careful not to ruin my wedding dress, hair and make up know full well Abby, Avery and Lease would kill him for ruining their hard work. I felt tears fall onto my shoulders, knowing my brother is crying and causing me to fight back my own tears.
"Is that mom's wedding set?" My brother question, Blue offering both of us a tissue to dry our eyes as Zack takes a closer look at the sapphire and white gold jewelry set that included chandelier earrings, two cuffs on my wrists and a delicate chain with a teardrop shaped pendant. Dominic had proposed to me with his mother's wedding band, a tradition in his family as the ring is a family heirloom. When I saw the sapphire in the middle I knew I just had to use my mother's jewelry from her wedding. That same day I gave Dominic a ring as well, a white gold band with it's own sapphire inlay that, when we held our hands side by side, matched the ring he proposed to me with.
"Yes it is. I have all of their things still if you want to go through it and pick out a few items for you, Abby and the pups later." I answer, offering my brother a chance to have something from our parents. I see the gratitude in his eyes, a sad smile on his face.
"I'm glad. I never wanted to burn the house down. Maybe after your honeymoon I can come over and we can go through mom and dad's things." Zack agrees, giving me another hug. Over the past eight and a half months Zack and I have grown closer. There were nights the two of us spent outside, feet in the pool while he talked about the things Mia had him do. He did it out of guilt. Not being able to save our parents and keep our family whole. It took us a while to get back into our sibling relationship, but it also felt nice having him here. Abby and I grew closer together, her and the pups coming around to help clean my house and decorate the nursery as Dominic and Zack took care of pack business.
"Well you two, enough being sappy and sentimental right now. If we don’t leave, we will be late for your wedding Amberle." Blue calls out, breaking the somber atmosphere and causing me to laugh. Blue is right though as he and Zack help me down the stairs and into the Limo before climbing in after me. My bouquet of flowers rest beside me on the seat as butterflies flutter inside my stomach. Or maybe it's the twins kicking.
The theme was simple, fire and ice, matching mine and Dom's wolves and our nicknames. My flowers were a mix of colours that closely resemble a burning fire and frosty ice in winter, the theme of our wedding being based on our nicknames for one another. I decided on making two bouquets out of fake flowers as one was for me to keep and one to throw into the crowd. Both were identical and both will be carried down the aisle with me to put in some wedding luck for the lucky she-wolf who catches it.
The limo finally stops in front to the quiet stone church we decided on. Zack and Blue exit first, Blue taking my flowers from me before Zack helps me to exit the car. The best thing about being pregnant it the glow, the worst is being unable to get in and out of vehicles.
"Can't wait for the twins to be born so that I can do normal stuff again." I joke, getting a chuckle from the two men. I had decided to let both of them give me away and as I take my flowers in hand, the wedding march sounding just as the door opens. Walking down the isle towards my mate, I couldn't help but tear up, seeing tears in Dominic's eyes as well. The preacher starts the typical marriage speech, the one about the Goddess blessing mates to live a long a fruitful life causing me to zone out.
"Who gives this woman away?"
"We do." Blue and Zack say together, stepping back so that I could place my hand in Dominic's outstretched hand. The preacher continues and we say our vows, the I do’s and finally, my favourite part.
"I pronounce you husband and wife; you may now kiss your bride." The preacher finally announces as I feel Dominic lean in and pull me into a passionate kiss, the crowd once again cheering and hooting.
"Save it for the bedroom!" Concra yells out, causing me to pull away and laugh.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you Mister and Mrs. Dominic and Amberle DeValorse." The crowed cheered once again and we made our way down the isle, to the limo and back to the pack house where the wedding party is in full swing. Our first dance is slow, my clumsy pregnant body trying my best to sway to the music, making for a good laugh between Dominic and me. The party is in full swing after that, my friends and family in the pack celebrating. By midnight though I am ready to go home. With a yawn, Dominic and I say good night before Dominic drives us home. We were just getting ready for bed when the feeling of peeing myself is felt, a puddle of water beneath my feet.
"What’s wrong?" Dominic's voice is laced with worry and I just stared at him for a moment before realization settles in.
"Get the pack doctor up and get the car and bags." I say with a slight whimper.
"Why?"
"The babies are freaking coming!" I almost yell. The drive is short, and I am rushed inside and into a wheel chair where the doctor and his nurses wheel me to the hospital wing with Dominic beside me, assuring that everything will be okay.
I was in labour for two days before I finally gave birth to the twin, Sapphira Carrie DeValorse and Esmerald Beverly DeValorse, both healthy and both crying because of the cold air. The room I am in is comfy and when I finally was able to go home, Abby and Avery had come over every day until I was able to move normally to help clean and cook. Even my niece and nephews helped with some of the chores when they weren't at school or training with the Head Trainer for pups, Scarlet, who made games to help enhance their abilities and prepare them for when they shifted.
My pack is strong and with the two new little alphas that I watch over each night with my husband by my side as they fall asleep, I know that my pack would be stronger in the end.
