Chapter 94: Chapter 94

"Xiao Xue, what’s going on?" Daliang was a bit confused by the scene before him. Didn’t Xiao Xia say... how did it turn out ?

"Dad, Third Uncle wrecked our house and even hit my uncle. Look at his face, it’s all scratched up and disfiguring!" Seeing her father ask, Bai Ruxue had no choice but to answer.

"This..." Daliang was at a loss for words. He couldn’t just plead on Yongsheng’s behalf, especially after seeing the scratches on his face, and his daughter looking so angry.

"Daliang, try to persuade your daughter, don’t let her sue Dahe!" Grandma Bai, unusually speaking kindly, knew exactly how to handle Daliang to make him do whatever she wanted.

So again, she spoke nicely to Daliang, confident in her ability to manage this son.

"Mom, my third brother isn’t a kid anymore. I let it go last time he hit me, but today he hit Yongsheng, something I can’t deal with. My brother doesn’t listen to me, why would the brother-in-law?" For once, Daliang didn’t try to persuade Bai Ruxue not to sue.

"You... he’s your own brother! How does it help you if he goes to jail?" Grandma Bai shouted, hands on her hips, upon hearing the disobedience from her son.

"You all settle it among yourselves, I can’t convince anyone! I’m going inside to see Cuihua!" Daliang ignored his mother’s tantrums and turned to go back inside.

"You unfilial son, turning against your own family, you heartless..." Grandma Bai shouted loudly behind Daliang.

"If we’re speaking of outsiders, my uncle is not one, while in contrast, Third Uncle is just like an outsider to me! Grandma, go ahead and shout, gather everyone, I’ll let them judge if suing Third Uncle is really turning against family?" Bai Ruxue replied coolly.

"Alright, alright, we’ll give up the job quota, isn’t that enough for you?" Grandma Bai glared, speaking as if the job quotas were theirs to give.

"What are you saying? The job quota was ours in the first place!" Bai Ruxue retorted.

At this point, the four little ones stood beside Bai Ruxue, along with Wang Yongsheng. Bai Dajiang stood in the middle, while Wu Zhaodi stayed inside, comforting Wang Cuihua while tending to the children.

The few kids were all visibly angry, especially Bai Ruchuan and Bai Ruxia, who were eager to jump up at their elder sister’s command.

"You brat, what do you want? Don’t push it too far! Your Third Uncle got hit too, wasn’t a light beating!" Grandma Bai was not stupid and had finally realized what was going on.

"Compensation! Either pay up or go to jail, the choice is yours!" Bai Ruxue didn’t beat around the bush, directly stating her terms.

Today, she was determined to get something substantial from them.

"Compensation? Dream on! Nothing, we have nothing!" Li Guihua exploded; this brat wanted them to pay compensation. She was already thinking of sneaking some grain back to her family. If they had to pay, there’d be no money; only grain, which she couldn’t steal to send back home!

"You damn woman! Shut up!" When Li Guihua yelled, Bai Dahe kicked her in fright, warning her not to shout.

"So there’s nothing, huh?" Bai Ruxue spoke slowly.

Grandma Bai remained silent, just watching her.

"Nothing is fine too! Aren’t you always doting on Third Uncle? How about giving up this year’s filial grain to pay for it?"

As soon as Bai Ruxue finished speaking, Li Guihua was relieved. After all, the filial grain would eventually become theirs, but compared to the grain in front of them, it was something only obtainable in autumn, so seeing it given away wouldn’t make her as heartbroken.

"Well? Yes or no? Whether Third Uncle goes to jail is entirely up to you, Grandma!" Bai Ruxue applied more pressure.

Grandma Bai squinted and pondered for a long time before looking at Bai Ruxue and forcing out a single word!

"Good, your grandma agreed! No more filial grain! You won’t sue us now! Let’s go, let’s go!" Bai Dahe quickly pulled Li Guihua, getting her to support him as they left upon hearing his mother agree.

Grandma Bai just gave a few angry glances and then followed them out.

"Alright, let’s go inside!" Bai Ruxue waved them in.

"Big sister, is that it?" Bai Ruyun asked softly.

"Second sister, what else do you want? Fight it out? Aren’t you scared?" Bai Rushan looked at the distracted Bai Ruyun, amused.

Bai Ruyun took a deep breath, looking at their grandma and Third Uncle’s couple running away, scared to death.

"Second Uncle, come inside!" Bai Ruxue called out to Bai Dajiang who was still standing there.

Everyone went inside together.

Inside, Wang Cuihua and Wu Zhaodi each held a child and were comforting them, while Daliang sat dejectedly on the side, his head lowered, saying nothing.

"Dad, Second Uncle, you both go to the team office and get the team leader’s signature and stamp, then head to the commune for another stamp! The factory needs people urgently; once we have the stamps, we’ll start working!" As soon as Bai Ruxue came in, she urged the two to hurry and get the stamps.

"Alright, we’ll go now!" Daliang stood up and took the recruitment form. "Let’s go, Dajiang!"

"Alright then, we’ll go first! Zhaodi, help the eldest sister-in-law tidy up!" Bai Dajiang said, then followed his brother out.

The earlier fight had left the house a mess. Bai Ruyun was heartbrokenly tidying up the sewing machine. The pieces of cloth on it had fallen off; they were light-colored floral fabric that her elder sister bought for her to make clothes, now all covered in mud and dirt from falling on the ground.

She was distressed and took the cloth outside to wash.

Bai Ruxia was helping her two younger brothers clean up the rest.

"Let the kids tidy up! Zhaodi, just sit!" Wang Cuihua stopped Wu Zhaodi from getting up to help clean.

"Second Aunt, help Mom with the kids! I’m going to take my uncle back and still need to fill out forms and get stamps!" Bai Ruxue retrieved a piece of cotton from the cupboard, soaked it in liquor, and started disinfecting Wang Yongsheng’s wounds, speaking without turning her head.

"Xiao Xue, I can walk back myself, there’s no need to see me off! I’m not hurt, just a few scratches on my face!" Wang Yongsheng spoke, trying to reassure his sister not to worry.

"I know you’re not injured, but biking back is faster. Hurry back and get ready; we’re going to the milk powder factory the day after tomorrow. I’ve already secured your dorm room! Go pack your luggage and get the stamps!" Bai Ruxue explained in detail. ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ ⓝovelFire.net

Wang Yongsheng felt an overwhelming sense of reality, excitement, and anticipation. Just thinking about being a worker in the city made him incredibly happy.

"Xiao Xue, stop disinfecting, I’m fine! Let’s hurry!" Wang Yongsheng said as he tried to stand up.

"In a rush now, are we? I’m almost finished! Let’s take some food for Grandma and Grandpa before we leave!" Bai Ruxue said, smiling at her uncle as she insisted on finishing the disinfection.

Riding a bike towards Wang Sandui, they also saw Daliang and his brother heading to the team office. They exchanged greetings, and Bai Ruxue rode the bike swiftly. Despite carrying a man over six feet tall on the back, she wasn’t slowed down.

She found that this body, although slender, was not weak at all. While lifting a hundred pounds of grain might be impossible, biking with a grown man wasn’t a problem.
