Chapter 38: Chapter 38

JONEA

All day, I feel uncomfortable and like there is something wrong with my body. I was not at all enthusiastic about attending lectures. I couldn't even focus on the things around me.

"Let me take you home," said Marilyn when we had just left class at the last lecture.

I'm very nervous. Until now, I haven't told Marilyn anything about where I live or with whom.

"No need, I can go home myself."

"How could I let you go home alone in a condition like that? Your face is very pale and your body is shaking. Do you have a fever? I won't be able to rest until I make sure you get home safely, Jonea!"

I bit my lower lip. I'm very restless. I also couldn't tell Marilyn that Owen was coming to pick me up. She could ask endless questions if she knew Owen was involved in my life.

Maybe Marilyn noticed my anxiety. She immediately corrected her words.

"Okay, let me get you a taxi. I won't force you if you're not ready to tell me anything about yourself now, Jonea. I was given the opportunity to be your friend again now, which has been an extraordinary blessing for me. I don't want to be greedy."

"Thanks, Marilyn." I looked at her gratefully. "And I'm sorry."

Marilyn shook her head quickly. "There's no need to thank you and you don't have to apologize. Come to me whenever you need me. The taxi is on its way. I'll take you to the front. I want to make sure the driver gets you home safely."

After leaving campus, I didn't even let the taxi stop in front of Daran's house. I asked to be dropped off about half a block, then continued on foot.

It was dark when I arrived home. The mansion was always quiet, but this was better for me. I don't have to pretend to be friendly when meeting other people, which will only drain my energy.

When I was about to enter the house, I saw a bluish-white light jumping between the Daran plants. I rubbed my eyes to confirm my vision. I was sure I saw a rabbit, but that rabbit had glowing fur and was very beautiful. Out of curiosity, I chased it.

It was as if the animal was deliberately teasing me. It stopped some distance from me. When I got closer to it, it jumped again and moved away. The rabbit took me far behind the yard where I had never set foot.

I thought the front yard was wide enough. Apparently, the backyard is even wider and resembles a forest. There are many big and old trees there. And between the rows of trees, I saw a building.

"Hut?" I frowned. I didn't know there were other buildings there.

The wooden hut let out a yellowish light from the window. I saw the rabbit disappear after jumping towards the old hut.

My body had been very weak all day, and as soon as I got closer to the old hut, I felt even more vulnerable. My stomach was churning more and more, and I felt very nauseous. My head is also getting dizzy.

I should have stayed away from there, but there was a strong urge at the bottom of my heart to get closer and find out. I could feel that the old wooden hut was covered in magic spells. I stopped in front of the thin boundary of the invisible magical spell.

"What place is this? Is Daran or Owen hiding something here? The spiritual energy of this old building is very strong."

I was about to turn around, but a voice resembling a whisper passed through my head. "Do you know who the real Daran Carver is?"

I returned to my original position and stared at the old wooden hut.

"That voice... Calling me from there? Is there anything stored in it?"

My body betrayed my senses. Without thinking, I stepped through the magical barrier protecting the old hut. And the intense nausea in my stomach suddenly disappeared as soon as I crossed the magic boundary.

Apparently, the door to the hut was not completely closed. From this close, I can see even though there is no light. Slowly, I pushed open the door and felt a gust of cold air from inside. Immediately, I shivered.

At a glance, I saw the glowing rabbit jumping inside the hut. I chased it inside. However, the rabbit disappeared among the piles of things in the hut.

As soon as I stepped into the hut, the door behind me suddenly slammed and closed. Suddenly, I returned and tried to open it, but the door was locked. I banged on the door and peeked through the cracks. I saw a flash of someone's shadow passing in front of the hut.

"Hey, who are you? Open the door! Why did you lock me up here?"

"Jonea, listen to me. I don't have much time before the magical veil disappears and Daran notices my presence. Now is my only chance to talk to you. If I didn't lock you up there, then you would definitely refuse to talk to me."

I was silent momentarily and tried to remember whose voice it was? His voice was very familiar. Then, my thoughts returned to the pair of hybrids that had attacked me in the forest.

"Are you that masked man with silver hair? Get me out right now. Why are you doing this if you just want to talk to me?"

"I told you, I don't have much time. Maybe soon Daran or his nephew will come here and kill me. So, listen to me," said the man whose name, if I'm not mistaken, was L.

"Okay, what do you want to say?"

"I don't know what happened between you and Daran Carver. But, one thing you need to know, don't trust anyone, even if it's Daran. No matter if he has helped you or promised you something, you must always be alert!"

"What do you mean? Do you know anything about Daran that I don't?"

"Jonea, never let go of dragon tears no matter what happens. Keep and maintain the pendant on your body. In fact, Daran will never be able to disturb you as long as you are still wearing dragon tears."

I opened my eyes in surprise. "How do you know about dragon tears? Do you know anything about Aland? Tell me who are you? I recognize your voice. Is that you, Miller?"

Instead of answering, the man just walked away. I peeked at him through the crack in the door.

"Hey! Do not go. Are you really Miller? I haven't finished talking to you yet." I panicked even more, trying to open the door as hard as possible, but it was locked tightly.

"Fuck! Who exactly is the hybrid man? Does he know anything about Aland? Where can I find him?"

Realization bothered me. His voice is very similar to Miller's. Also, his hair color. Even though we were born twins, we have different hair colors. I was born with red hair, and Miller had silver hair. I'm a red moon, and Miller is a silver moon. For years, the Fallon couple managed to hide our identities and change our hair color to black with magic.

I ran along the inside of the hut. Until I found an opaque glass window. I saw the silver-haired man jump and disappear into the dark night with a white glowing rabbit perched on his shoulder.

"Miller!" I shouted in panic.

The door to the hut suddenly opened, and a strong wind blew through. I froze when I saw him standing next to me.

"Da-Daran..."
