Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Jonea Fallon

I kept running to hunt a jeveric. Is his name Roka or Moka? They look almost the same.

She took me to arrive in a dark forest. A few moments later, a lot of light appeared scattered around the forest. All the light seemed to come from hundreds of fireflies uniting and spinning to form a vortex of light into the sky.

"Beautiful," I muttered.

I was really amazed to see the beauty of these twinkling lights.

I spread both hands while lifting my face to the sky. The night that was previously dark is now strewn with bluish light. Some of the glowing bugs started to surround me. It was as if I was the center of their light energy.

"What's this? Are they fireflies?"

I opened my palms and tried to grab them in my grip. One of the glowing creatures landed on my palm. The taste is very ticklish. I'm scared but also curious. What creatures are they?

"You always refer to us in human-made terms. Oh, no fireflies here. They are fairies," said Jeveric, who brought me to that place.

"Fairy?" I was amazed to see the tiny creature in my palm.

At such a close distance, I could see they were all insect-sized dwarves with wings that emitted light sprinklings.

"Really, a fairy? Like in fairy tales and storybooks?"

Wow, I was so excited and could hardly believe it.

The real fairies were flying around the forest. They enveloped me in a sprinkling of bright blue and red light.

On the tree's lowest branch, I saw the three jeverics perched there. They asked me to chat. They love to talk.

"Hey, Jonea. What's your family like?" he asked.

My gaze was still fixated on the light from the fairies' wings.

"I don't have a family," I answered simply. "They died a year ago. I live on the run and hide. Until I meet again with my uncle's family."

"Are they good people?" asked Moka.

I was silent for a few moments. I lowered my face. I also fell my hands to the sides of the body.

"I wouldn't end up here if I liked them."

The jeverics fell silent. I am trying to figure out what they are thinking and planning.

I felt creatures were hiding behind the ranks of large and dark trees in the forest. I caught a glimpse of several pairs of their yellow eyes shining brightly.

Who are they? Are they dangerous?

I couldn't see because their bodies were obscured in the dark. Only their eyes glistened and seemed to be lurking and watching me. I got goosebumps.

The light from the wings of the fairies began to fade away. I walked back a few meters again. I'm afraid to be there. By the time I came to, I had lost my way.

"Hey, we've gone too far," I told the three jeverics.

"Don't worry," said Moka.

"Don't worry!" continued Koka.

"In fact, we have to walk even further!" Roka exclaimed. "Don't you need to go back there again–black castle?"

I saw Roka talking with a pair of narrowed eyes and eyeballs that were burning bright red.

I was shocked to see the change in Jeveric's reaction. Somehow, I sensed a demonic aura within the glint of their eyes.

The three jeverics started to surround me. They jump around my feet. One of them even started walking first to take the lead in front.

"And yet we've managed to trick the Lycan King this far!" exclaimed Roka in the initial position.

What? I stopped for a moment. The three Jeverics also stopped. They together turned around and looked at me, who was behind.

"What do you mean?" I suddenly felt uncomfortable and suspicious of the three jeverics.

Roka jumped on my right shoulder and said, "I must bring you to our country. If not, then they will all be mad at me."

Koka jumped onto my left shoulder. "Life in our country is much more enjoyable. More… more fun than living in the human world. You also don't need to become the slave of the cruel and sadistic Lycan King."

I opened my palm, and Moka jumped in there. I felt his sharp nails on my palms. He smiled sweetly, speaking softly in front of me.

"Maybe you don't know, do you? Actually, that Lycan King just wants to devour you. You will only be used as food. You will be made as an offering to his old sorcery. He is the accursed Lycan King."

"Yeah, right, Jonea. You better come with us. You can be a leader in our country. We are all servants who will bow down to you." Koka bowed before me like he was a knight.

"We will follow your every order. In fact, if it is necessary to die to save the silver-haired youth, we will do it."

I also snapped conscious. I know how profound the words they speak are. This was an excellent opportunity to be free from Daran Carver and also be able to save Aland.

"We heard that you are the Red Moon Girl. Is that true, Jonea?"

I was getting really nervous just thinking about freeing Aland. I'd love to believe in them. Jeveric's three promises were very tempting.

"But, the wolf soul inside of me hasn't awakened yet. My holy blood will be of no use to anyone. I thought that only Daran could release the seal within me."

"Don't worry! We never can do anything."

The three Jeverics jumped back to the ground. They tugged at my socks, the hem of my coat, and the laces of my shoes to make me follow them.

Where exactly are they taking me? I can go to where Aland is.

A bluish light appeared in the dense forest. At first, I thought it was just a glow from the moonlight. But, getting closer, I realized the light was emerging from a large rock fracture.

"We have arrived!" cried Moka.

"Wow, looks like it's already opened. What a coincidence," continued Koka.

"Look, Jonea! Behind the rock is the land of the jeverics," said Roka. "There is a world of great fun for us and you."

What's that?

I was desperate to approach the source of the light. A stone arranged to form a pyramid gave off a blue glow in the middle. The light was really dazzling to the eye. I shielded my face with both arms.

"Come on, Jonea," persuaded one jeveric.

Suddenly, I had a strong urge to step back and get out of there. My steps became heavier and heavier; I even stopped utterly.

"No!" I refused. "I'd better go home."

I started to back away in fear. At that moment, I quickly turned around and ran away from that place.

The three Jeverics looked shocked and disappointed. They hunted and ambushed me.

"Uh, where are you going?"

I lost my way.

"You don't have family waiting for you!"

Gosh! My heart seemed to stop beating at that moment. My footsteps also stopped. Jeveric reminds me again that now my life is indeed lonely. I have no family and no friends. No one was waiting for me to return home.

"Isn't your life in the human world no longer valuable? Even if you turn into a Lycan, you don't have a pack that will guard and protect you!"

I could only stand in the middle of the forest and turn my back on the blue light. My head bowed weakly.

A pair of pale hands appeared from behind my back. I saw the hands wrapped around my legs, waist, and shoulders. The three pairs of pale hands tightly hugged me from behind and dragged me back into the blue light.

No! I'm so scared.

Those are Jeveric's hands.

"You'd better stay in our world full of fun and happiness. You don't have to sweat the trouble with the werewolves and lycans. You can also release your guilt toward the silver-haired youth. Start your happy life from scratch with us in the land of the jeverics!"

The voices kept whispering and seducing me.

My gaze became glazed. I really lost the orientation and purpose of my life at this time.

"You guys are right. My life is worthless anymore. I don't have anyone in this world. I'm already feeling exhausted from running all the time. I want happiness and a quiet life."

Unknowingly, I slowly turned towards the blue light.

Apparently, behind me, hundreds of Jeveric were waiting in front of the portal. Hundreds of pairs of red eyes flashed triumphantly. The Jeverics guided and guided me to walk through the portal to their country.

I can't think. I just move uncontrollably.

When I was about to step foot and welcome the helping hand of one Jeveric, suddenly, that's when I realized. I pulled back my hand quickly.

Moka was surprised. "Jonea, what's wrong?"

Stupid! Why am I being silly?

I gripped my right hand with all my might so I wouldn't accept Jeveric's outstretched hand. I can't go with them.

I have to do something to wake myself up.

I clawed my own right arm with my left fingernails until it bled. It really hurts. The pain had to wake me up.

"Can't!" I whispered with difficulty. I still bowed my head under the hood of the coat.

Slowly my consciousness returned. The pain from the claws on my hands made me realize that they controlled me.

"I have to go home," I said softly.

"Why?" protested one Jeveric. "You have no reason to return to that black castle."

I still lowered my face and grinned secretly without them noticing.

"All this time, people have always hated and insulted me just because I look like a human. Those werewolves will still hate me even if I turn into a lycan. I was wrong in saying that I have no family."

I clenched my fists tightly.

"There are still people waiting for my arrival. There's still Miller out there waiting for me to find him. There is still Aland waiting for me to release."

I clenched tighter to resist their control.

"Even though I'm just a toy. Although Daran might throw me away once, he gets bored. Although he is insulting and always looks angry at me. But, I have to admit, Daran was the only person who provided shelter for me."

I straightened my face and flashed them an angry smile.

The jeverics looked shocked and offended. Their pair of eyes, which looked very cute and adorable, now turned into killer demon eyes. Sharp fangs and claws protruded from every part of their bodies.

I'm not surprised at all. They are devils with angelic faces.

Someone suddenly appeared beside me and grabbed my shoulders in his arms.

Who?

"My Little Squirrel already knows where it is and where to go back. It seems he also knows who owns it." Daran smiled scornfully at the jeverics.

I actually looked up in shock. “Daran? How did you come here?"

The jeverics hissed and roared. "Damned Lycan King! What are you doing here? Do you think you can take this girl away? She is ours!"
