Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Meg POV
I hated this job!
The fact that I had to stand almost throughout the day to serve arrogant men and their annoying women was tiring and exhausting enough. Not to talk of the ladies that came along. In their mind, they felt no one could ever be better than them. When in truth they were just lonely rich women looking for someone to frustrate.
Today was one of those days where I had to ground my teeth and restrain myself from cursing. One crazy guy even had the nerve to grab my ass! Not that I didn't bring it on myself with the way my uniform was modified. It was just that I was expecting a more suitable hand to grab said ass. Not jerk offs like the one who did.
To crown it all off, I had to face one of James's customers. There was one I couldn't particularly forget. What was her name again? Annabelle. When James disappeared and left me to cover for him, I had expected a lot of things, but that level of drama wasn't one of them.
I stood in front of the bar, trying my best to calm my nerves with a drink or two as I rested my elbow against the counter. My shift was over, and seeing as I did a double shift covering for James, I had the rest of the day off.
Thank God!
Someone once asked me, "Why do you hate your job so much?" Well, the answer was quite simple. I hated all jobs in general. I had gone from being a babysitter to a receptionist to working as a cleaner to being a maid and now a waitress. And I hated every second of it. I hated the fact that I had to work for everything when there were women that were born under dynasties and ancient money. Why wasn't I one of them? Why did I have to be born into the hardship of life and fight my way through? I hated the world for the fate I was gifted.
One of the waiters walks past, carrying a balanced tray of drinks on his left palm. He gave me a sultry wink and a flirty smile as he moved to one of the tables to serve a client. I gave him a disgusted look. He was not the kind of man I was after or attracted to. Right now, I needed a man that could take me out of this shit whole I was in. A man with the dough, with deep pockets, a man like Robert.
Oh, poor Robert.
The guy was the perfect prospect for me. At least he wasn't threatening or scary, neither was he too hot. There wasn't going to be any competition from other girls. Especially after I might have handled him.
I giggled at the thought.
All of that was just an addition to the fact that Annabelle did not want him. She would have made an arduous competition to overcome if she was interested. But I was so glad she wasn't. The hot slap he received was announcement enough on her part.
She had freaking embarrassed him in public and I was glad. Everything was just falling to my advantage. I didn't mind the fact that he still paid her bills and brushed me off today because when I'll be through with him, he'd forever remember one name.
Meg.
No man could resist my charms for long. Except for a certain dark-haired, light-skinned man. The very one I had first tried my skills of seduction on before Robert. The one who had threatened the shit out of me with a sentence and put me in my place within seconds. It had been an intense encounter all the way, and I was relieved when he dismissed me. Even if it was with a threat.
I had needed to know the man who had bested my skill of seduction. And so before I served him his bill, I took a peek for his name. When I saw Charles written on the slip, I paused and tried the name on my tongue, pronouncing it softy and slowly...
Charles.
What a simple name for a dangerous personality.
If I had said his domineering attitude hasn't turned me on, I would have been lying to myself. I liked him, but I couldn't have him because he was flat out immune to my charms and obviously out of my league. I wish I took note of his room number. Maybe if I appeared at his door looking all sultry without this ridiculous waitress dress, Which I made to look that way, he would have a change of heart.
That seems unlikely Meg. Get out of your head and focus on what's important! And what exactly was important again?
Robert. Robert was an easy target.
I pushed myself off the counter and stalked to the staff changing room. My locker was located at the far end of the room to the left. I hated it. I had to walk down the hall to get to it, which wasn't funny at the beginning of a shift because everyone was hurrying in and out. But thank the Lord the rush was not on at the moment I stepped in. So I had no problem strolling to my locker.
I punched in my locker code and the locker popped open. Looking in, I began to salvage for what I would wear to the bar before going home.
"Hey, meg!" I heard Alice purr as she stepped into the changing room, looking all bright and shiny with her cheap wig and a fake smile. She was one of the waitresses that usually served with the night shifters and my nemesis. The kind of contempt we had for each other was palpable. One could almost touch it.
"Hey, Alice," I replied sweetly, giving her the same fake smile she threw my way. "Why did you have to call my name with your hideous voice?" I asked her. The fake smile was still plastered on my face. "And how Is your so-called amazing boyfriend, or should I say, fiance?" I asked, my voice laced with venom.
She laughed at my question. "You sound frustrated Meg. Is your crabby life any better today?" She asked, stalking slowly towards me. "Probably not! tsk tsk tsk, I just pray you don't die frustrated like your mama. In case you need a place to stay that smells better than that rat hole you live in, don't call me okay?" She laughed as she brushed past me, moving towards the public shower.
My smile dropped. My face fell. The bitch! How dare she involve my mother in our fudge. "Alice?" I called out as I turned slowly towards her.
"Yeah?" She replied, not bothering to spare me a glance, good! She wouldn't know what's coming.
"I slept with your fiance last night," I announced calmly as I picked up my phone from my locker and began typing. She froze. I saw her body turn stiff for a moment, then began shaking as she turned towards me. Now I had her attention.
"What? You are lying, you wouldn't. He wouldn't dare cheat on me, not to talk of with you," She replied, her voice shaking with ragged emotions.
"Really?" I asked, my eyebrows raising. "Well, it seems you don't know me, or worst of all you underestimate my hatred for you," I said as I typed away on my phone.
"Prove it!" she cried, trying and failing to hide the panic in her voice.
I smiled, attaching the video to my post and said, "You will find out online soon enough. For the video of him passionately cheating on you is going live in 3,2,1, Sent!" Immediately her phone pinged with notifications, along with several other people's phone that was present in the room which I hadn't even noticed had come in.
She opened it, and without even going through a minute of the video she screamed, "You bitch! I will kill you!" And with that, she lunched for me. But I saw her coming and moved out of the way, she charged at me again but this time she was grabbed by James. He dragged her towards the exit and handed her over to the bouncers outside the room, and as they took her away, she kept screaming "I'll kill you..., I do promise you!"
Yes, yes, yes, we'll see about that.
"What was that all about Meg?" James asked as he picked up my phone, which had dropped on the floor when Alice attacked me and handed it over to me.
"Nothing. Obviously, Alice is nuts and needs to be taken to the psychiatrist. She needs help!" I replied, a little too excitingly, pretending not to know the reason for her outburst.
"Look, Meg, if the management finds out you started this, you will be penalized. Why can't you just stay out of trouble?" James asked, a worried expression on his face.
"Oh please don't act like you care or are a saint. I see the way you act around Ms Amy and the way you are always pulling disappearing acts right in the middle of your shift. You are not perfect, and neither am I!" with that said, I stalked into the shower, took my bath, changed and stormed out of the locker room.
I was so angry at James for confronting me after my little victory with Alice. The bitch deserved it and I should be celebrating right now. But I wasn't, because even that small victory was ripped away from me.
I walked straight to the bar and took a seat right next to a gentleman. I didn't take cognisance to him until he ordered a drink.
I'd recognize that voice anywhere. It was Robert.
Just my luck.
Making myself comfortable on the barstool, I leaned towards him. "Ain't you gonna offer to buy a girl a drink?" I purred, making sure to sound as sexy as possible.
Robert noticed me. His eyebrows raising at my change in appearance. "Aren't you the waitress from the episode today at the restaurant?" He asked.
Duh... Of course!
"Yeah it's me, I'm Meg," I said as I offered him my hands
He took it, "I'm... "
"Robert, I know... "I cut in, flipping my hair to the side, "I heard you introduce yourself to that lady earlier, and I must say, you deserve to be treated way better than that," I said sweetly, batting my eyes lashes at him.
He stared at me for a while then said, "Would you like to show me how I should be treated?"
Oh, my charms were working real good.
Dropping my hands on my laps I replied, "You bet."
"Good, meet me in my room at 8 pm let's have fun." Turning to the bartender he said, "Give her anything she wants and put it on my tap OK?"
"Yes sir," the bartender replied with a smile.
And with that, he stood up and began to leave. He said I should see him in his room but he didn't tell me which room so I asked, my voice a little bit raised, "Which room Robert?"
"310," he answered without slowing his movements or sparing a backwards glance.
310. Got it!
Turning to the bartender I said "I'll have a glass of champagne please," he nodded in response and went off to fix me my drink.
I had hit the jackpot, and I had hit it perfectly!
