Chapter 1120: Chapter 1120
"Does it mean that I can play with Pastry aunt again?" His big brown eyes sparkled with a misty emotion. "I was very patient!"
"Yes, you were," Jin ruffled his head. "Much more so than the adults," he thought about Liu Hai.
He beamed. "So can I sleep with Pastry aunt tonight?"
His brow twitched. "You are already jumping on the chance to hog her."
"You hogged Pastry aunt for all this time!"
"Of course I can," he proudly said, "She is my wife."
"She is my aunt too! So I sleep with Pastry aunt tonight," his chubby cheeks blushed.
"Hey! The kids always sleep in between us!"
"We cannot let them sleep in the corner now, can we? What if they fall?"
Ailun seriously nodded. "That’s not good, Uncle. We are very small. We get hurt."
He scoffed. "You do? All those times you mess around and play so violently that you have higher chances of banging your head somewhere on the wall, don’t count?"
"That’s Aang and Taio. I play very responsibly."
The news was quick to spread to the rest of the family members so the first to dash over to Alix’s side was none other than Liu Hai.
"Congratulations! But listen to my injustices, Alix dear! Your husband kept us apart for so damn long! How dare he!"
"Can you always not talk in that misleading manner?" Jin grimaced. Discover more novels at NoveI(F)ire.net
Nana celebrated the joyful event by bringing some cakes and cookies. Her brown eyes shone. "Congratulations, dear. I knew you would pass with flying colors."
Jinhai placed a hefty red envelope on the tray and slid it under the plates. "Congratulations."
Their sweet gestures made her chest feel all warm and fuzzy.
Ai hopped merrily over to their side holding Junxi in her arms. "So does this mean we can start with the wedding preparations?"
Nobody was more eager with the wedding preparations than the three sister-in-laws.
Jin was still of the opinion that they should wait until her teacher training would be over as well and she would officially be registered as a teacher with the Education Board. But Alix held other thoughts, who knew that the complete process would still take a few more months.
Leina squealed. "OMG this is so exciting! I have never taken part in a Chinese wedding before!"
"Gosh the shopping list is gonna be soooooo big!" Xing Bi was imagining the rows and rows of items to be brought. "I cannot wait to do all the shopping!"
The twins were lost in their own world of delicious happiness and heaven. "We will get so much to eat!"
Liu Chunhua’s eyes narrowed. "I wonder if you will really take charge of the catering or just eat your own food! Don’t forget that your role is holding the shopping bags for your wives more rather than stuffing your stomachs. So be at the peak of your physique!"
Jian looked ’hurt.’ "I’m a very responsible chef, Grandma. Don’t I handle Natsukashi so well?"
"I’m tempted to give Nuo more credit for that," she harrumphed. "Otherwise you would finish up all your customers’ food if left to you! You are all just like your grandfather!"
Nian’s nose grew long with pride. "This might not be a Church type wedding but leave the desserts and wedding cake to me~ You just hold your breaths, that’s all."
Jing sniffled. "Don’t worry my dear protege. I will design the bestest wedding attire for you two! You will be the most beautiful bride in the world!"
Jun looked at his parents. "I will help with the betrothal gifts. Just give me the list."
Liu Hai sneered. "Yeah you better do a good job with the gifts, Jun-cute. If it’s lacking anywhere, then I will reject your brother!"
Their brows twitched hard.
"Grandpa, you are from the groom’s side."
"Noooo! I’m from the bride’s side! Just think about it. A wedding has so many preparations. I’m sure Alix’s parents could handle it but wouldn’t it get overwhelming for just the two of them?"
It was true that Alix didn’t have many relatives from her mother or father’s side.
Nana touched her chin. "That’s a valid point. I don’t want them to get stressed over the rituals. Wedding preparations should be fun, not stressful."
"My daughter-in-law understands me!" He cried with joy. "So there can be other people helping and all but I have already nominated myself!"
Since Alix already had her parents, it didn’t make sense for Nana or Jinhai to hop over to the bride’s side because Jin’s parents were needed to carry out their son’s side of the rituals. The others’ sides were debatable and hence began a heated competition of who would be on which side.
Alix tried to stop them, feeling uneasy. She didn’t think it was necessary for them to change sides. Jin pulled her back and smiled.
"They are right. So let them decide."
Eventually nobody could come to a conclusion so it was decided that everybody minus Nana, Jinhai and Liu Hai would write up their names in chits and Alix would pick five of them. Whoever was picked would be on the bride’s side.
So a bowl of chits was presented before Alix. Everybody’s sparkling and hopeful eyes were too blinding for her.
Nana chirped. "Go ahead and pick the names dear."
Jing raised his arm. "Me! Me! Pick meeee!!"
"Hey don’t rig it, Uncle!" Nian glared.
Alix slightly cleared her throat and picked up the first name, still hesitant over this whole process. She unfolded one chit and everybody’s bodies leaned to hear the outcome.
"Yay!" She clapped in delight.
Jing sniffled. "Don’t worry, I still have three more chances!"
Alix picked up the second name. "Jian."
He smirked. "I was born with good luck."
The third chit read. "Leina."
Jian burst into tears. "See! My wife and I will be together!"
Jing exclaimed. "The last one will definitely be me!"
Alix took out the fourth chit and opened it. She paused for a moment and cleared her throat.
Jun arched his brows for a moment and nodded. "Cool."
Which meant that Liu Hai, Leina, Jian, Xing Bi and Jun would act from the bride’s side whereas Liu Chunhua, Nian, Jing and Ai would be from the groom’s aide.
Jun felt a tug at his pants and saw his son’s gleaming face. "Which means that I will be on Pastry aunt’s side, right?"
He raised his brow again. "Don’t you always want to be on your mother’s side?"
Ai gasped. "Are you betraying me?"
"I want to be on Pastry aunt’s side too," his nostrils flared. "And Mom has Junxi with her. So she is not alone. So I will be with Dad! Yay!"
