Chapter 207: Chapter 207
"Today is my birthday, Yang Lin, have a drink with me."
Chen Jun’s mother laid out the dishes on the table, brought a bottle of wine, and said to Yang Lin with a smile.
Chen Jun was a bit taken aback when his mom said that; wasn’t her birthday just a few days ago?
But he thought, her saying that was just an excuse to get Yang Lin to drink, so he sat by, said nothing, and simply smiled along.
"Auntie, it’s your birthday today? I really didn’t know and came empty-handed, I’m so sorry."
Yang Lin hurriedly said with a smile.
"Having you, this old lady, for a meal is more than enough for me, no need to bring anything. Jun, go get the wine glasses."
Chen Jun’s mother opened the wine while instructing Chen Jun to fetch the glasses.
Seeing Chen Jun’s mother’s demeanor, Yang Lin realized that not drinking tonight was not an option.
"I usually don’t drink, but since it’s your birthday, Auntie, I’ll have a little with you. But Auntie, I really can’t drink much, just a little, okay?"
Yang Lin actually disliked being forced to drink,
but visiting Chen Jun’s mother was her excuse to come to the base each time.
So she couldn’t afford to offend Chen Jun’s mother.
"We’re all family here, don’t worry, no one’s going to force you to drink too much."
Chen Jun’s mother reassured with a relaxed expression.
Chen Jun brought three pomegranate wine glasses from the kitchen, and watched as Chen Jun’s mother poured a full glass for her.
"Auntie, that’s too much, I really can’t drink all that."
Yang Lin wanted to stop her, but Chen Jun’s mother quickly filled all three glasses.
"No worries, start drinking. If you really can’t finish it later, we’ll talk about it then, okay?"
Seeing as she put it this way, Yang Lin didn’t refuse any further.
"Mom, happy birthday to you, wishing you health and all the best."
Chen Jun didn’t give Yang Lin a chance to say no, he directly picked up a glass and spoke to his mother.
Chen Jun’s mother quickly picked up a glass too.
"Thank you, son. Yang Lin, let’s have some together."
Chen Jun’s mother looked at Yang Lin and said.
"Happy birthday, Auntie, and to your good health."
Yang Lin had no choice but to raise her glass and say with a smile.
The meal went on, with Chen Jun and his mother finding all sorts of excuses to successfully get Yang Lin drunk.
Chen Jun and his mother exchanged a glance over the table where Yang Lin lay sprawled out, and laughed together.
"Jun, it’s up to you now."
Chen Jun’s mother said to Chen Jun.
"Mom, what if Yang Lin causes a scene when she wakes up tomorrow morning?"
Chen Jun pondered, figuring Yang Lin’s father could easily deal with him.
"Don’t worry, I’ve thought it all out. Tomorrow morning, we’ll do this."
Even with no one else home, Chen Jun’s mother whispered her plan quietly in Chen Jun’s ear.
"Mom, you really thought of everything."
Chen Jun said excitedly after hearing.
"Of course, I’ve eaten more salt than you guys have eaten rice. I know exactly what Yang Lin is thinking, just go ahead."
Chen Jun’s mother gave his back a confident pat as she spoke.
Chen Jun carried Yang Lin back to his room.
Having been divorced from Li Dongxiang for several months, today he could finally let loose.
Chen Jun’s mother didn’t even clear the table, she went straight to bed.
The next morning, Chen Jun’s mother woke earlier than usual but waited until the base wake-up call sounded before coming out of her room.
"Jun, get up, Jun, get up, it’s time."
She called loudly outside the door to Chen Jun.
After waiting a bit, she pushed open the door and went in.
"Jun, ah, what were you two up to last night?"
Chen Jun’s mother feigned a startled shout.
As Chen Jun’s mother was calling from outside, Yang Lin had already begun to stir awake.
The shout from Chen Jun’s mother upon entering startled her fully awake.
She opened her eyes, finding the surrounding environment unfamiliar.
As she tried to figure out what was happening, Chen Jun’s voice came from beside her.
"Mom, what’s going on?"
Yang Lin sat up in fright all at once from the bed.
But she felt like a broken doll, taken apart and put back together, her whole body aching terribly.
She saw Chen Jun on the bed and Chen Jun’s mother standing at the bedside.
She screamed out in fright.
"Why are you in my bed?"
Chen Jun pretended it was the first time he had noticed Yang Lin.
"Yang Lin, what happened last night that you ended up in Jun’s bed?"
Chen Jun’s mother acted as if she had no idea what was happening.
But from what they said, it was as if Yang Lin had deliberately wanted something to happen with Chen Jun.
"Did you plan this together all along just to ruin me?"
Yang Lin accused tearfully.
"Yang Lin, I’m truly innocent, I drank too much last night and don’t know what happened afterward. Jun, tell us, what’s this about?"
Chen Jun’s mother quickly pleaded innocence, leaving the issue to Chen Jun.
"Mom, I also drank too much last night, how would I know what happened?"
Chen Jun said with a face full of grievance.
Hearing this, Yang Lin cried even louder.
"Yang Lin, don’t cry, if you cry, people on the entire floor will hear."
Chen Jun’s mother quickly comforted Yang Lin.
Hearing this, Yang Lin indeed stopped crying.
Now crying wouldn’t help, she pulled the blanket down to see that her body was bruised and battered, which looked particularly frightening.
Yang Lin understood that the mother and son must have done something to her.
But she couldn’t shout about it, otherwise, she’d be the one to face the backlash.
"No one is to say a word about what happened today. I hear you owe quite a bit of money to others, I’ll settle those debts for you, but remember, nothing happened today."
Yang Lin threatened sharply.
"No need, Yang Lin, I’ve actually liked you for a long time but just kept it to myself because I knew I wasn’t good enough for you. Even though I’m drunk, I’m responsible for what happened today. You don’t need to give us hush money, rest assured, we won’t say a word."
Chen Jun quickly spoke up, looking somewhat sorrowful yet righteous.
"It’s better to keep things clear, you two go out now, let me get dressed."
Yang Lin said with a blank expression.
Once Chen Jun and his mother left, Yang Lin painfully dressed herself.
Seeing the table still uncleared of dishes when she exited, she wondered if maybe they had been genuinely drunk last night, per what Chen Jun’s mother had said.
But she didn’t want to dwell on these matters now, she just wanted to leave quickly.
Hurriedly, Yang Lin left Chen Jun’s place and headed for the guesthouse.
Ye Hao happened to come out from home and saw Yang Lin looking flustered.
Returning to the guesthouse, Yang Lin quickly filled the bath to wash off.
She scrubbed hard at the marks on her body, making them worse the more she scrubbed.
She had always fantasized about what a night with Ye Hao might be like, and now it was all ruined.
She felt unwilling, no matter the obstacles, she was determined to be with Ye Hao.
Meanwhile, at Chen Jun’s place, the atmosphere was celebratory.
"Mom, you’ve really got a way with things."
Chen Jun looked at his mother with admiration.
"Well, of course, dealing with that spoiled girl Yang Lin is a piece of cake. If you managed to plant a seed in her belly last night, our good days really are on their way."
Chen Jun’s mother thought of the money to spend, and Chen Jun getting a promotion—it would be enough to make others envious.
