Chapter 19: Chapter 19

I don't know since when, but being reborn into Jazzlin Ozza wasn't the easy thing I thought of before. My quiet life turned towards beating the flow through a life full of challenges.

Barra stepped on the gas to maximum speed. It was like surrendering to the angel of death.

"Hold on tight, Alia." I screamed with my face I no longer knew how the expression was. My hand squeezed the seat. All thoughts seemed to disappear.

Barra was relaxed even though he had repeatedly run red lights and I didn't even fucking care anymore what other problems we would face afterwards.

I was trying to looked at the rear-view mirror, two sedans still chased us, "Jazzlin, get the gun in my pocket!" Barra hinted at what was under his jeans jacket.

"What?" Barra also had a gun! I was suspicious from the start with everyone in these fucking families. "What do you want me to do?" I screamed still with my cold, shaking hands.

"There's no other time for joking! Take and shoot back or soon they'll shoot us." He spoke straightforwardly.

I chuckled out of the blue, "Wait, what?!"

"Stop asking and hurry up!" His voice was far from gentle. He actually made me do this thing.

My hands immediately went behind his jacket and found a gun. It was the first time I touched such a dangerous thing. "How to use this?" I asked again because I really didn't know how it works.

"Jazzlin! I said stop joking!" Barra's voice was harsh and his eyes remained focused on the road. My question literally got him irritated.

Our situation was urgent. Either they shot us or we shot them. There was only one choice, if I was choosing the wrong one, the result would be fatal.

"I really don't know!"

Damn it! The moment when danger was in sight, all of Jazzlin's memories were lost. I needed all her memories, maybe she had learned how to use a gun otherwise Barra might not force me to use it.

Like a stray chicken I looked back, "Alia get down!" The girl's eyes closed for a moment, I monitored the two men who were already aiming their guns.

The aiming man in the rear car was bald and wearing a T-shirt, while the car that was almost close to ours had long-blonde hair.

"Fuck you." There was no other choice left for me but to try to use the gun according to what I was able to do. Within seconds I hit the trigger but ... missed.

They looked furious with the first shot, but then their faces were covered with malicious smiles.

"Jake, track my current location and hurry over here!" Barra ordered Jake over the phone.

"Let's try one more time." I whispered encouraging spells to myself. Not the head, but my target was only their arms. Oh God, forgive me, but if I didn't launch bullets they would launch bullets into my tough skull.

My eyes narrowed at the target. One ... two ... another miss. "God damn it!"

"You step aside, I'm going to shoot." I nodded following his orders.

"Alia close your eyes, don't look back!" I ordered her for a moment Barra fired his first shot. "I'll take control." I immediately took over the wheel steer while Barra aimed his gun back. There was a sound of cars colliding with each other for a moment with a loud thumping explosion.

"Nice shot." I heard Jake's voice still on the line.

A moment later my breath that had stucked in my throat was finally free. Barra sat leaning against the window with his hair disheveled, and face that looked like he was just escaped the hell.

"We did it." I said in my thrilled voice, "Are you okay back there?" I asked Alia.

She nodded. Her hair was unkempt, with the hairpin now being held in her tiny hand. It was clear that she had finally caught the air properly.

"Are you okay?" Barra's hand stopped my hand that tugging my hair behind my ear. His eyes were now looking back at me attentively.

"I am. Sorry for the missed bullets." I said without looking his eyes, feeling ashamed of myself. However, his hand was gripping my palm. Warmth returned to my whole body every time he did it.

There would never be enough words to describe how important this man to me.

"Don't take your eyes off me." My chin lifted when he hold them up, making me immediately stunned to see a Greek God in front of me.

He was so hot with his hair that he slicked it back and his lips half parted open.

Before my sinful thoughts take over my brain, it would be better if I averting my eyesight.

My mind was a dangerous place when it came to him.

"T-that's, Um--" I stuttered when my heart was erratic because those hazel eyes never took their gaze off me.

"Uh, it's Jake!" Right on time, Jake knocked the glass window next to Barra, making he averted his eyes from me. I quickly got out of the car and helped Alia to get out too.

Our car was surrounded by five other black cars, Barra's men were waiting with their guns ready to be grasped. My feelings never went wrong, I was sure they were some kind of mafia. No doubt about that.

"Are you okay cute girl?" Jake approached Alia then pulled her hair that covered her delightful face.

"That was amazing, I've never ridden a racer car. But now I know what it feels like to race." My eyes were bulging, really? So since earlier Alia was enjoying it? Even though I almost felt like dying from running out of oxygen which I lasted so long.

Barra was busy talking with his other men like planning a strategy until he realized my eyes were staring at him a long time ago.

I wanted to curse my eyes that were constantly looking for his whereabouts. Now, he stepped here, towards me with his eyes that never looked anywhere other than me.

Someone please splash me a water! My eyes betrayed me. They just kept staring at the charming prince who walked in slow-motion.

He gave a smile as sweet as sugar, until ... "Hey, Jazzlin. I was asking you. Why are you just stay there like statue?" Jake stood up, blocking our view.

"Huh?" I was like a lovesick girl, languishing with love.

"Don't 'huh' me." He said in 'duh' tone.

"Can I borrow my principessa?" Barra's soothing voice making Jake turned around.

What did he say? "So? I'm your principessa?"

His eyebrows lifted before replying, "I've never heard anyone else call you that apart from me."

"Right, right." His hand pulled mine somewhere, "Where are we going?" He ignored me. I just walked behind him, paying attention to his back.

"I need you to meet someone." All right, he was talking like we were playing guesswork.

"Who do you want me to meet?"

My steps stopped in a cafe. Standing a middle aged man. His entire hair had turned white, his body was no longer standing properly, it needed the help of a stick. Next to him stood two strong guards men.

A memory of Jazzlin flashed through my mind. Sumedh Ainsley was standing right in front of me. One thing about this man that never changes; his smile.

My arrival brought a warm smile on his face. He still remembered who I was, for a moment his lips made a voice calling me, "Jazzlin? It's really you, kid?"

I turned to Barra who nodded his head, agreeing that we would immediately approach his father.

"It's been a long time since I saw you." He tried to walk even though his legs were shaking. The guards tried to hold onto him but he scolded them and said that he didn't need anyone's help.

"You're getting prettier Jazzlin." He coughed out a laugh.

"Dad, are you okay?" Barra was worried for a moment Mr. Sumedh's hand stopped him from touching his arm.

"I told you I'm still strong enough." He shook his head, "Why don't you believe me? I still can play boxing if I want to."

His condition was no longer possible to play boxing to be honest. Maybe he was just trying to play a joke to get rid of the tension in the current atmosphere. Mr. Sumedh was not a man who likes to complain about anything. He was independent, loving, and also understanding as a father figure.

He was the only member of the family Barra had at the moment. As I had said before, everyone was nice to the Ainsleys simply because of their wealth.

Many times this family also experienced betrayal from their other families. Mr. Sumedh taught his only successor son to be vigilant and not easily trust anyone but not forgetting to help each other without asking for anything in return.

"It's good to see you. How are you?" My greeting made him spread his lips into a smile.

"I'm wonderful."

I was a little confused why Mr. Sumedh could be here. As far as I could remember, he chose to live in the countryside away from the city. He also once said that he hated the noise of the city. Then why was he here?

"He's only here for a moment." Barra whispered making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

"Is it for urgent business?" I whispered back.

I turned when he didn't answered my question, "I don't think so. It's your father, he sent us dinner invitation."
