Chapter 652: Chapter 652

Guests who can enter Lange Yuntian naturally belong to the wealthy and privileged class.

The woman before them was merely a server, just a mundane server, and yet she dared to raise her voice in front of her, showing no sign of the professionalism expected of a server.

The ladies nearby, watching Lan Shuixian drenched from head to toe, felt a touch of malicious glee. To them, a server should act the part; eavesdropping on guests was one thing, but raising her voice at a guest was unacceptable.

Lange Yuntian prides itself on respecting guest privacy, and the server’s behavior, if reported to management, would surely result in dismissal.

"What we discuss is our privacy and freedom, and even your boss wouldn’t dare intervene in my matters, who do you think you are? Get out of my sight and don’t let me see you again."

"You can talk about others, but not Su Xiaofeng. She’s not what you say she is; she is loyal and kind-hearted, a truly good person. Even if it costs me my job, I will argue the point with you." In fact, she had already resigned from her position there.

She now had her own little store and didn’t have the time to come here. For some reason, the manager had not approved her resignation, which frustrated her greatly.

She believed she had been diligent and responsible during her employment, but perhaps not to the extent that the manager would ask her to stay.

"Quite principled, aren’t you?" the noble lady smirked, "You keep mentioning Su Xiaofeng as if you’re quite close. It seems that the Young Madam from the Gu Family and the Young Lady from the Quan Family have not made many high-society acquaintances in the Imperial Capital, yet they seem to have warmed up to a server like you. As the saying goes, a turkey will never become a phoenix. No matter what, it will always prefer the company of turkeys and never aspire for anything greater."

People come to Lange Yuntian to network, yet Su Xiaofeng, instead of forming relationships with prominent families, now had a server standing in her defence. What did that tell them?

It suggested that Su Xiaofeng only belonged with people of the server’s status and was incapable of entering their upper-class circle.

"Who are you calling a turkey? I think you’re the real turkey here," Lan Shuixian said indignantly, upon hearing the unpleasant remarks. "You’re all supposed to be ladies who understand etiquette, yet you gossip so vilely behind others’ backs. I don’t see how you’re any more refined."

These people were truly insufferable.

"You think you have the right to dictate our behavior? I find you truly astonishing. Call your manager over; I want to see how they will handle this." The noble lady laughed coldly at Lan Shuixian’s words.

Even now, still stubborn as a mule, they would see if she still had that stubbornness in a moment.

"No need to call the manager; I will leave on my own shortly. I’ve been wanting to quit for a while. What’s the big deal if I don’t get a month’s salary? I’ll just let it go." Lan Shuixian said as she took off her server’s jacket and threw it to the ground: "Xiaofeng is my good friend, so naturally, I cannot ignore hearing you speak ill of her."

Those around thought Lan Shuixian must have gone mad at her actions.

The manager, hearing the commotion, rushed over.

"You’ve arrived at the right time, this is your server, isn’t she? We were having a conversation, and she interfered, which has severely displeased me. See to it that it’s taken care of, or I’ll cancel my membership."

A mere server thinking she could handle her.

What about Su Xiaofeng’s friends? Even if Su Xiaofeng herself were here, she wouldn’t dare touch her.

Mere server that she was, who gave her the audacity?

"Mrs. Qian, I am truly sorry; we indeed have not met our obligations. Lan... Xiaolan, you should quickly apologize to Mrs. Qian. Have you forgotten our club’s policy? You must not pry into guests’ privacy, let alone keep it confidential," the manager said respectfully to Lan Shuixian.

Mrs. Qian, with a look of satisfaction, watched Lan Shuixian upon hearing the manager’s words.

"Manager, I was just about to tell you, I’ve wanted to quit this job for a long time. Even if you fire me today, I will defend my friend’s reputation." Lan Shuixian returned her badge to the manager: "Manager, I’ve submitted my resignation, and you haven’t approved it. Well, today’s a good day for you to fire me."

The manager was odd for not letting a part-time employee quit; she wasn’t even a full-timer.

The manager looked at Lan Shuixian strangely. What was going on with Lan Shuixian today, talking about resigning again. The whole club was hers; if she didn’t want to do it anymore, what were they supposed to do without her?
