Hugo whistling when he entered the theater while holding a bouquet of fresh red roses.

Gale was the one who suggested it. That bartender said, "Forget about being a boring man. Diamond and roses are woman's best friend."

Hugo couldn't afford to buy diamond, so he bought a bouquet instead.

Sarah Bones is a polite woman. Coming from a middle-class family, Sarah work hard to became a teacher. Although, she has so much interest in art and painting. But, those hobbies need money.

After knowing the audition, she applied to be one and became the most passionate person to learn and teach about how to paint .

Hugo know her and have some interest to her from the first time they met.

She has a cute smile and reckless in her cheek. With long brown and a pair of hazel eyes, Sarah look younger in her 20s.

Hugo came to the Capital's park and found that girl sitting on the bench. Waiting for him, patiently.

Wearing a simple brown tunic dress and a pair of khaki leather boots, make her look more casual than when she in the school.

Hugo thought that she look so refreshed,"Good evening, Miss Bones. I'm sorry to make you wait."

Sarah rose from her chair with a charming smile, "Nice to see you, Mister Hugo. I'm arrived a minute ago. So, shall we go now?"

"Yes. And, this is for you. I don't know what you like. But, the florist said that red roses never goes wrong."

Sarah took the bouquet with blessed feeling. She closed her eyes to smell those flowers, "Thank you. This is one of my favorite."

Hugo offered his right arm to her, "Then, let's go. Actually, this is the first time I visit the theater."

"Ah, it's okay." She took his arm and the young couple walk together.

"There's a first time for everything, and today must be your lucky day. The most popular troupe in this empire, Eternal Summer, as your first watch."

"Well, I know that I am a lucky man." To have a date with a beautiful girl in the last day of summer, he thought to himself. Boss is becoming softer lately. And dumber than before. Why did he smile like that? Perhaps, his relationship is getting better.

"They will be playing the most popular stories, too. Haunted Mansion."

Suddenly, Hugo's heart was squeezed with a cold hand. "G-ghost?"

"Exactly. You know? People always believe that we can repel the ghost or evil spirit through the festival and theatrical play. I always wondered why did we have to be afraid of something invisible."

The nervous man nodded, but his heart lied and beating so fast. His forehead broke a sweat, "Y-yeah. You were… right."

"I know, right?" Her smile is brighter than the streetlamp and Hugo can't tell her the truth.

Rather than encounter the ghost with scary face, he prefers to fight with the bandit or even the serial killer.

In his childhood, Hugo often peeing himself and had a nightmate when someone telling him a scary story. Gillian was one of the culprit. His talent to make an interesting story is forged since he learning alphabets.

His heart almost exploded when they reached the entrance. Around hundred people gathering on it. Most of them were commoner.

The nobles must be entering the different entrance to avoid the ruckus.

Sarah show her tickets to the guard before they enter the building. Although, Hugo try his best to not shivering.

Luckily, Sarah didn't notice at all because she is excitedly talking about the story, "It's about the poor young man who came to Fall Town because he inherited an old mansion from his uncle. The young man, who called as Jeff, feeling a bit confused because he never knows that he has an uncle. Because he was an orphan"

"Hmm, interesting." He said when enter the first door on the corridor.

There are so many chairs on that big room, facing the stage which closed with red curtain.

They were looking at their chair, which fortunately, located on middle row.

Sarah sits first and Hugo follow her. The chair was made from cheap red leather, but it was still comfortable.

Then, Sarah continue her story. "But, Jeff still come anyway because he is jobless, and he needs fast money to marry his fiancé."

Hugo frowned because this Jeff has a fiancé despite his poor condition. Orphan, jobless and drowning in poverty.

God is fair indeed, he thought.

"When Jeff arrived at the mansion, he was dumbstruck because it such a big and luxury building. So, he was happy at first."

"And it was turned out as a haunted."

Sarah happily clap her hand, "You are good at guessing, Mister Hugo. Yes, indeed. It was haunted by a young woman. But, the ghost is so beautiful, and he fell in love with her."

Hugo's eyes widen, "Is it a romance story? I thought it was horror."

Sarah nodded and Hugo feeling nausea, "Well, the ghost tried to kill Jeff, so they can together in the spirit world."

"Oh."

"Actually, I don't like the original ending. I hope they use the alternative ending." Sarah confessed and then waving at the snack seller who walking in front of the stage. "Which one do you prefer, Mister Hugo? Roasted nut or toffee apple? Don't worry, it's my treat."

"Roasted nut. Then, I'll buy you a dinner."

Unexpectedly, Sarah laugh lightly and Hugo found himself in ease, "Thank you, Mister Hugo. I'll look forward for it."

Sarah traded ten bronze coins to two large paper cups of roasted nut.

When Hugo take his snack, the light is on and the curtain slowly raised. Showing a gray castle made from painted wood and two men who standing in front of it.

The old man wearing gray suit and brown trousers. Meanwhile, the young man wear cheap white shirt and light-brown trouser. But, something make him look so cool despite his simple attire.

"Ah, here he is. Nicholas Ergo, the youngest man in the troupe. Not to mention, the most talented one." Sarah whispered but failed to hide her excitement.

Suddenly, something burning in his heart. It's not jealousy, but he felt it would be better not to lose with that young man.

Hugo, don't panic, he said to himself. What you have to do now is show her what you got. Don't faint through this play.

"Mister Hugo, why did you become silent? You are not sleeping, right?"

"No, I'm just focused on the play."

Sarah smiled gently, "Then, let's enjoy this drama."
