Chapter 110: Chapter 110

The young wolf man look disappointed when he arrived at the temple, deep into the frozen forest.

He already knew that it must be abandoned and deserted. But, he never expected that the temple was ruined. The scattered stone were everywhere and covered in snow.

He was staring at the ruin in indefinite time. They said that human was weak. Without a help from the protector, they are nothing.

But, now, the young wolf man thinking if the reality was the other way around.

He let out a heavy sighed before walk into the town.

Even considered as the weakest one, the young wolf man still stronger than an ordinary human.

He won't lose in combat with them

But, he can't win if he had a fight with the man who get his father's blessing.

The protector of this frozen island, once, called as Aslanian. An entity lower than God but higher than human. He got a job to protecting this frozen land.

In the past, Aslanian was considered as the strongest among the Four Protectors, who spreading into different direction.

Now, Aslanian was sleeping after his unforgivable mistake. Giving unchangeable blessing to a bad human. Make him lose all the faith from the citizen who used to worship him.

"Oh, boy. You look so bad. Please come in. I'll make you some tea." Said a man who unlocked his restaurant. "What is your name?"

The young wolf man blinked his eyes twice before say, "Callisto."

"Hmm, I never saw you before."

"Ah, I was… searching for someone." It wasn't a lie. He wants to meet with the source of this agony, White Wolf bandit's leader.

And, the noble woman who turned down the Foxter's request.

"My, my. Yesterday was the young couple and now, it's you." The man said when they enter the restaurant.

The man exhaled heavily when he looks at Callisto, "I don't know what happened. But, why did you walk barefoot? Your robe was thin and look worse than mine. Wait, I think I have my son's old clothes."

Callisto look at his foot and wondering why did that human make a ruckus of it. He didn't bother with this kind of weather.

But, that man already disappeared to the behind of the counter and come back with a big wooden glass of tea and a pair of shoes along with folded robe.

"Here, try this on. My son must be having the same size with you."

Callisto nodded and put the shoe. "Thank you. This is fit like a glove."

"Ah, I'm relieved then."

"But, is this okay? Your son perhaps still need it."

The man's expression didn't change when he said. "Nah, he was gone a year ago."

"Oh, I'm sorry for your lost. I didn't mean to remind you." The young wolf man slightly bowed to express his condolence.

"Haha, that's okay, Young Boy. Besides, this world are too cruel for a fragile man like him."

Callisto staring at that man before he took a sip of his tea. It's bland and plain.

"Sorry, I've no sugar." He said with a faint smile.

"Oh, that's okay."

"Honestly, I didn't even remember how it tasted. The sugar, I mean."

Callisto didn't answer and keep drinking the tea. Somehow, he felt guilty.

What kind of the protector he is? So powerless and useless. Have no ability to provide the mere sugar for his people. No wonder the citizen already forgetting them.

Callisto look at the wooden glass, wondering if he can do something to reply his kindness.

"Anyway, who are you looking for? Friends? Family?"

"Ah, it's my… friend." Callisto said without thinking. Suddenly, the thought of that strong woman across to his mind. Perhaps, she can help him or giving some advices to solve this problem. But, the problem is he didn't know her face because he only saw her back. "Well, she is a young woman. Has the same height with me and black long hair."

"And, what's her name? But, there is no young woman lived around here. Well, except yesterday. A young mysterious woman with acnes in her face and her husband came. Looking for her sister, buy meals and give me a silver coin for some information."

Callisto suddenly raised from his chair. He has a feeling that she is the one he's looking for. "And then, did you know where she went?"

"I tell them to the library. But, I doubt they will find any clue." He shrugged and put his hand under the chin. "Perhaps, they were giving up and back on the way home."

"No, I don't think so. I'm sure they will come back tomorrow."

"Eh? Why did you say that?"

"Just a hunch. Sir, can you let me stay for tonight? I will help you to washing the dishes or anything. Of course, you don't have to pay me!"

"Call me Chris. Christian Lake. This place rarely got some guests. So, you can stay as long as you want."

"Thank you, Sir Chris."

"No, no. I'm the one who thanked you. This place is gloomy and having someone to talk is good. But, I have one advice for you. Just give up if you can't find this person. Don't waste your time here."

Callisto staring at Chris's brown sad eyes. "I will not give up... yet, Sir. Anyway, when I was walking here. I found something like a ruin in the forest. What is that?"

"Ruin? Ah, you mean the temple?" Chris asked with raised his brow.

"Yes." He answered after gulped. Callisto know if he didn't ready to hear his answer. But, he had to find out what did they feel about their protector. "I am really curious about it. Because looking from the ruin, it was supposed to be a huge and luxury building."

"It was." Chris said with a faint smile. "Until they abandoned us."

"Abandoned?" Callisto's brows raised, didn't expect the answer.

"They stopped granted our prayers. So, we thought that perhaps this is what they want. To let us living hopelessly in this world under the bandit's who get the blessing from them."

"No! That's wrong! The protector was deceived by them, who promised to bring the peace back to this island!"

Chris feeling a bit shocked when saw the young man fired up. As if he was the one who got insulted. "Now, now. Please calm down, Young Boy. I just telling you what I really feel. Besides, we were already losing the hope. We can't fight them back or defend ourselves when they abused us. All we have to do was wait until everything is over."

Callisto bite his lower lip. His tighten his fist, "I'll prove you that's wrong. The protector will help you if you pray to them. Please don't stop believing on them!"

"Then, if I prayed to have some blanket, do you think if they will grant it?"

Callisto blinked twice. "What? Blanket?"

"If the protector can't grant that little request, then how come we can believe them to grant the bigger one?"

Callisto let out a heavy sigh. He has no magic power to grant it. So, there is only one thing he can do, "Then, please excuse me for a moment. I want to pray and prove that your protector never neglected you."
