Chapter 917: Chapter 917
Facing the incoming dark shadow, the Electric Society turned pale with shock, but they had not even a moment to counterattack.
This time, a massive forelimb resembling a door plank blocked in front of Jia Yan.
However, the forelimb seemed barely in time to shield only a fraction of the shadow; after which, the rapidly shot dark shadow brushed past the Electric Society’s body and shot into the air.
"Hmm?" The voice of the Mantis Referee sounded beside Jia Yan.
Jia Yan was not surprised by its appearance. However, he was taken aback that his strike had almost failed to be stopped by the Mantis Referee, which was certainly surprising even to himself.
He retracted the shot dark shadow back to himself.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out that this dark shadow was actually a mouth needle shot from his own mouthpiece!
It turns out that after reviewing the materials and teachings provided by the Scaled Creature, Jia Yan deduced through the content of the teachings that every Strong One should use their combat weapon to its limits.
In the past, Jia Yan’s utilization of the mouth needle was too low; he had thought about developing this weapon before, but due to various problems, it never came to fruition.
But now, as if having an epiphany and using it once, the effect turned out to be quite good!
"Your move is not bad," the Mantis Referee, who had almost failed to protect the Electric Society, unprecedentedly spoke such words to Jia Yan.
"This battle, Jia Yan wins, Angel Camp versus Dragon Roar Battle Arena, Angel Camp wins!"
The Mantis Referee announced loudly.
Throughout the tournament, a wave of uproar rippled once more, numerous spectators changed from their initially dispirited mien, giving extremely high evaluations of the previous fight.
After all, a battle between Early Star Space Powerhouses that produced some qualities of a Mid-term powerhouse, how could that not astonish them?
"Lord Jia Yan, we will always support you!" Some of the thrilled spectators had a change of heart towards Jia Yan and directly shouted out their support for him.
"Jia Yan, well done, we won again thanks to you," greeted the Scaled Creature as Jia Yan stepped down from the arena. She too was astounded by Jia Yan’s performance today.
She was even somewhat embarrassed; thinking she had been clever in giving those teaching materials to Jia Yan the day before, and today Jia Yan, as if in response, utilized some advanced techniques. She did not believe that Jia Yan could have learned so much overnight, but rather, he was showing off to her, letting her realize that Jia Yan wasn’t as clueless about techniques as she had imagined.
Now the Scaled Creature thought that perhaps Jia Yan had been hiding his true strength all this time.
"I should thank you; the teaching materials you provided were great," Jia Yan slightly warmed up in his response to her.
Jia Yan was indeed grateful, while she thought he was just demonstrating his gentlemanly demeanor; both completely misunderstood each other.
"Alright, Jia Yan, we’ve won another match. I’m counting on you for the battle tomorrow," said the Four-eyed Monster as he approached Jia Yan, expressing sincere gratitude. Earlier he might have been slightly resentful of Jia Yan taking the limelight, but after seeing the gap between them, this leader among the Strong Ones no longer had any comparative thoughts towards Jia Yan’s strength.
After all, they were not even on the same level. Even if he could unleash his True Energy, he could not possibly defeat Jia Yan, an Early Stage powerhouse with a streak of victories.
"Leader, let’s talk over there," Jia Yan started, then stopped, but eventually couldn’t resist inviting the other to walk aside.
"You hope I’ll tell you something about True Energy? That..."
At the edge of the contestants’ seats where no one was around, Jia Yan’s words made the Four-eyed Monster hesitate.
Some matters among the Strong Ones are not to be asked about, especially those concerning cultivation. Some involve the core secrets of a Strong One.
Jia Yan wasn’t unaware of these matters, but as it concerned his future, he had no choice but to ask.
"If you only want to know about True Energy, I can talk to you about it, but some things that touch upon my secrets and about Angel Camp’s Secret Techniques, I will not reveal. If that’s fine with you, then I’ll tell you," the Four-eyed Monster hesitated for a long while before finally saying.
"That’s completely fine, thank you," Jia Yan couldn’t help but be overjoyed.
Afterwards, the Four-eyed Monster began to instruct Jia Yan at the edge of the arena. Although referred to as instruction, once you leave out those related secrets, they’re essentially theoretical. Yet to the Jia Yan with weak foundational knowledge, these are also precious pieces of information.
The Four-eyed Monster was like a perfect mentor; Jia Yan would often ask very basic questions, but he did not show the slightest doubt or anything of the sort. Part of this was certainly because of Jia Yan’s intentional concealment, but also because he had a deeply rooted impression that Jia Yan was a high-level individual. Thus, even if Jia Yan said something that didn’t seem to fit a Strong One, he would interpret it in his mind as Jia Yan testing him or some other reason, not that Jia Yan genuinely didn’t understand the knowledge.
Jia Yan had wanted to bring up the matter of learning only after the day’s matches were over, but he just couldn’t wait to ask until the evening. After all, his learning efficiency was extremely high; if he asked now and gained some insights, by evening he might have already benefited from them.
"True Energy is , at least as I understand it. Maybe it feels different for High-level Individuals," the Four-eyed Monster said many things in one breath.
