Chapter 1779: Chapter 1779: Two Childish Brats
Luo Qiao walked over: “Dinner will be ready soon, why don’t you both stay and eat with us?”
Lu Yichen looked at Luo Qiao. Although he didn’t quite agree, he didn’t contradict Yunyi’s suggestion. Out of politeness, he nodded at the two of them: “Then come in.”
Xiao Ye tossed his backpack to Big Brother, then followed Luo Qiao into the kitchen, quietly asking, “Mom, are my older sisters dating someone?”
Luo Qiao glanced outside: “There’s nothing definite about that. Neither of your sisters have said anything. Don’t go around saying things, or you might get teamed up on by them.”
Xiao Ye scoffed: “They’re always together and still nothing definite? That’s just being pretentious.”
Luo Qiao raised her hand and gave Xiao Ye a light slap: “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Xiao Ye reached out, grabbed a piece of rib, and put it into his mouth: “Mom, don’t worry. Do I seem like someone unreliable? But honestly, if it’s really those two, I wouldn’t object.
At least they’re both capable, so my sisters won’t need to protect them in the future. We’re not interested in weaklings anyway.”
Luo Qiao dished out the ribs: “Then I’ll find you a strong woman to be your wife. We won’t accept weaklings either.”
Xiao Ye was stunned for a moment, then imagined the scene: “No, no, no, mom, how could choosing a partner for me compare to my sisters? I won’t get involved, okay? Spare your precious son.”
Luo Qiao nudged him away with her shoulder: “Show some ambition.”
Rong Daniang walked in from outside. It seemed clear to her that the young couple was definitely Yanyan and Yueyue with their partners. They were pleasing to look at, each one well-appeared.
Both young men drove here, and she’d casually asked before. The cars outside were all bought by them, showing their capability, so her face was full of smiles.
The kids will be twenty soon, and it’s about time they had a partner. It’d be nice if they could get married right after college. Who knows, she might even help with the grandchildren. She felt delighted inside.
Seeing the dishes ready: “Xiao Ye, don’t just stand there. Hurry up and take the dishes to the room, or else they’ll get cold.”
Xiao Ye shouted towards the living room: “Wash your hands, it’s time to eat.”
Soon, Luo Chen and Qi Junrui came out of the room, heading towards the kitchen. Luo Chen smiled and said: “We’ll help with the dishes.”
Qi Junrui also stepped forward with a smile: “Auntie, let us take care of it.”
Sitting in the living room, Lu Yichen finally understood and gave his daughters a “just you wait” look: “Later, I’ll settle this with you both.”
He added another line: “Go and help out.”
Soon, the food was on the table: scrambled eggs with ham, spicy shredded chicken, assorted cold dishes, fried peanuts, boiled shrimp, crispy chicken pieces, fish with pickled vegetables, tomato-braised beef, braised fish, braised pork with preserved vegetables, four-jewel meatballs, and finally, winter melon soup with meatballs.
Luo Qiao invited everyone to sit down: “You two, make yourselves at home, eat more.”
Luo Chen responded with a smile: “It’s been a while since I’ve had Auntie’s cooking.”
Yanyan gave him a sidelong glance: “What do you mean a while? You ate last time when you brought me back.”
Luo Chen didn’t feel embarrassed: “That was several months ago. Auntie’s cooking is the best.”
Yanyan looked at him: “Then you should enjoy it. It’s not just my mom’s cooking, Grandma Rong made some of it too.”
Luo Chen quickly corrected himself: “Grandma Rong’s cooking is also great. I had it last time too.”
He finished and gave Qi Junrui a childish glance, though it was unclear what he wanted to convey.
Yet there was an even more childish person. After giving Yueyue a piece of food, Qi Junrui put on gloves to peel shrimp: “I had Auntie’s chicken nuggets when I was very young.”
Luo Chen looked up at him: “Very young?”
Qi Junrui nodded, placing the peeled shrimp into Yueyue’s bowl, then looked at Luo Chen: “Very young, back when Yueyue had just started kindergarten.”
Luo Chen looked unconvinced and turned to Yanyan for confirmation: “Did you guys know each other that early?”
Yanyan smiled and nodded, deliberately saying: “Yeah, pretty early.”
