Chapter 1750: Chapter 1750: You Really Are Such a Double Standard
Luo Qiao lay back on the bed: "Your dad doesn’t just listen to me; that’s his way of showing respect. What I say usually aligns with his thoughts; it’s not like everything is decided by me. I need to make this clear to you."
Yueyue clasped her hands together: "Yes, yes, yes, I expressed it wrong."
Yanyan laughed so hard she was bent over: "Yueyue, you’ve met your match today."
The three ladies on the bed burst into laughter.
Once the laughter quieted down, Yanyan continued with her previous question: "Mom, you haven’t answered my question yet."
Luo Qiao looked at her two grown-up daughters: "I’m not insisting on matching family backgrounds. As long as they have good character and their families are reasonable, everything else can be discussed.
But living together isn’t just about two people; it’s about two families. I hope you both stay rational."
Yanyan laughed: "Okay, that reassures me."
Luo Qiao gently patted Yanyan and jokingly scolded: "What kind of person do you take your mom for?"
Just then, Lu Yichen pushed the door open: "You three sat in the car all day; aren’t you tired?"
Yanyan and Yueyue laughed and headed out: "We’re going to rest now; we have to return to school early tomorrow."
Once they had left, Lu Yichen asked: "What were you three whispering about? I heard your laughter all the way in the yard."
Luo Qiao laughed as she pulled up the quilt: "They were probing to see what my requirements are for their future partners."
Lu Yichen frowned slightly: "Are they seeing someone already?"
Luo Qiao chuckled: "What’s with your expression? They’re university students now. Even if they’re not seeing someone, what if they were? What could you do?"
Lu Yichen sat down: "Are they really not dating anyone?"
Luo Qiao dimmed the light a bit: "Not yet. It’s just that Ran Ran had an issue, so they asked. Isn’t that normal?"
Lu Yichen switched off the lamp on his side: "They’re still so young. It can wait until they start working."
Luo Qiao retorted: "You’re quite the double standard, aren’t you?"
Lu Yichen knew what she meant: "Perhaps people are just selfish. It’s reassuring to marry a wife early, but you want your daughters to stay carefree at home for a few more years."
Luo Qiao laughed: "Marriage is destined by heaven; it’s not something we can control. Best to let nature take its course. We can only help them make better choices. Beyond that, there’s not much we can do. They seem obedient, but honestly, each of them has a mind of their own."
Lu Yichen pulled her into his arms: "Alright, I’ll listen to you."
Luo Qiao suddenly burst into laughter.
Lu Yichen was puzzled: "What’s so funny?"
Luo Qiao leaned against him: "I just asked your daughters why they didn’t ask you, and they said you’d end up listening to me anyway."
Lu Yichen laughed and agreed: "They’re not wrong."
Luo Qiao playfully punched him: "I’m not taking the blame for everything. Don’t we discuss everything in our family together?"
Lu Yichen laughed out loud: "True, they got that one right too. I can vouch for you."
The two of them joked around for a while. Perhaps they were indeed tired from sitting in the car all day, as they soon drifted off to sleep.

Meanwhile, Bai Sulì had run out of patience without meeting her parents-in-law and decided to go directly to Luo Qiao.
Unfortunately, when she arrived at the hospital, Luo Qiao had just left. Colleagues said Vice President Luo had returned to the university. By the time she reached the university, the office staff said Professor Luo was in a lecture.
Even after waiting until noon, she hadn’t seen her. Upon inquiry, she learned that Luo Qiao usually went directly to the lab after classes, and no one without a badge could enter there.
Unwilling to give up, she asked for directions to the lab, planning to wait there for her.
Someone in the office asked: "Don’t you have her mobile number?"
Bai Sulì couldn’t admit it: "Her phone’s been unreachable. I don’t know if it’s out of battery or has some other issue."
In truth, she didn’t dare to call, fearing Luo Qiao would find out she was looking for her and might directly chase her away.
She was really left with no other choice now. She was even willing to apologize. She could disregard her and her husband’s jobs, but not her daughter’s situation, and she couldn’t let her son’s issue drag on. There was no one else who could help, so she came to plead with Luo Qiao.
