Chapter 1745: Chapter 1745: Stunned by the Spiciness

No matter how hard the Yang Family’s Main Wife tried to find them, the old couple just couldn’t be reached.

Regardless of how turbulent things were for the Yang Family’s Main Wife’s household, National Day came.

Luo Qiao arranged for a leave in advance to accompany her sister-in-law Wang Xiaoxin on a trip to Tianshui. Later, the kids insisted on coming along too, turning the two-person trip into a seven-person journey. But by the time they set off, it had become a party of ten.

That’s because the elder brother-in-law and nephew Lu Hao decided to join too. Seeing them go, Lu Yichen insisted on coming along as well, hiding this from Lu Ran, who was still on a business trip elsewhere. Lu Ran would surely have figured it out with her keen sense.

Lu Yichen had to pull some strings to get the sleeper tickets. Once on the train, he finally managed to swap berths with a male fellow passenger. Back then, train tickets weren’t linked to real-name registration yet.

Following suit, Lu Yixuan and Lu Hao also swapped their seats to be together.

Lu Hao joked, "Will my aunt and uncle be mad when they find out?"

Lu Yixuan placed the luggage properly, "Your aunt and uncle are on duty. I called them yesterday. If they have any issue, I’ve got my lines ready."

Lu Hao looked up at his dad, "Dad, is this how you treat your own sister?"

Lu Yixuan squinted at his son, "As long as you don’t stir things up when we get back, your aunt and uncle won’t mind."

Wang Xiaoxin pulled her son aside, "Son, don’t mind him. Your dad’s teasing you. I called your aunt a few days ago. She genuinely doesn’t have the time, otherwise there’s no way she’d miss out."

Most trains were still the old green ones at that time, and they had to go to Baoji first before transferring trains to Tianshui.

The journey was filled with chatter and laughter, making the time pass quickly. By the time they got off at Baoji, it had started raining. They bought tickets for Tianshui and then found a place for a meal. Since there was only a bit more than an hour in between, they didn’t venture far and just ate under a makeshift tent not far from the train station.

Luo Qiao fancied herself able to handle spicy food, but today she met her match. She ordered a bowl of noodles and added some homemade spicy sauce from the street vendor. One bite and she was floored.

Honestly, it went straight to her head, and for a moment, it felt like she lost consciousness. It took a while to recover, and then she quickly stopped the kids from adding any of that sauce. It was too spicy; if she couldn’t handle it, the kids surely couldn’t. Luckily, she got the first bowl.

Lu Yichen tried to swap his bowl with hers by taking over her bowl, but Luo Qiao immediately ordered a new one, setting the spicy one aside. It was truly too spicy. Lu Yichen normally couldn’t handle spicy food as well as she could, so she didn’t dare let him try, fearing he wouldn’t be able to take it.

After the meal, they strolled under umbrellas outside the train station for a bit. The plaza in front of the station was quite nice, with pretty decent greenery.

Luo Qiao took many photos in the rain for everyone, and Xiao Ye joked, "Even if we just stayed at the train station for a bit, we can say we’ve been here; we’ll have photos to prove it in the future."

Hearing this, everyone laughed.

Getting back on the train again meant they’d reach Tianshui much faster. However, upon exiting the station at Tianshui, they overheard someone nearby advising their companions, "There might be kids coming over asking for money when you get out; just ignore them."

At that time, everyone heard it but didn’t understand why.

But after they exited and saw kids approaching, they watched someone not far away kindly give a dollar, only to be immediately surrounded by a large group of kids. It was truly startling, and then they understood the meaning behind the advice to ignore them.
