Chapter 1628: Chapter 1628: Putting Skills to the Test

Luo Haotian carefully followed behind, worried that after his daughter left, Gu Qianru would bring up old grievances again.

So, after closing the door, he went inside to make tea: "Wife, come over and have some tea. Is there anything else you need to tell me?"

He felt truly uneasy.

If he didn’t ask, his mind would keep being uneasy and restless.

Gu Qianru said, "I have nothing to say. This isn’t something you’d listen to just because I’d say it, but you must remember one thing. I don’t like Zhao Jianing from the bottom of my heart. If you have contact with her behind my back or that of the children, don’t blame us for distancing ourselves from you."

Luo Haotian knew that Gu Qianru wasn’t just trying to scare him.

So he quickly reassured her: "Don’t worry, I won’t interfere anymore. I made a mistake before."

Only when Gu Qianru heard his repeated promises did this matter finally rest.

When Luo Qiao drove to the school, she noticed some suspicious individuals. Most parents were watching the direction of the school gate, looking to see if their own children were among the students coming out.

But those few people were checking out the students as they came out and then glancing at something in their hands. It couldn’t just be a coincidence that all those entrusted to pick up kids gathered together?

There was certainly something wrong.

When the five children came out, Luo Qiao saw those people constantly making comparisons, afraid of missing something.

She took a glance at the children, thinking, "It’s time to let them try their skills."

So she backed the car up without alerting them.

As the children walked a bit, they realized someone was following them, but instead of being scared, they felt a thrill of excitement.

The five muttered among themselves for a while, not choosing to head home, but turning into a nearby alley instead.

Luo Qiao saw those people followed them into the alley and quickly got out of the car. It’s fine to let them practice, but their safety must be ensured, especially if they encountered someone on her level in a fight.

In that case, the kids would surely lose in a one-on-one fight.

However, the stalkers were only three that she had noticed. If the five children worked together, they might not be at a disadvantage, as they had frequently sparred with Lu Yichen.

After parking the car, she quickly followed them in.

What she didn’t know was that ever since the incident that morning, Lu Yichen had secretly dispatched more people to follow the children, instructing the undercover protectors to not reveal themselves unless absolutely necessary.

Luo Qiao went in and saw that they were fighting intensely, and the children were not at a disadvantage. After watching for a while, she realized that these people weren’t as skilled as the one she had fought earlier, but they did have some skills.

She stood there watching, until she saw one of them reach for his waist, prompting her to rush forward. The children were still young, and the alley was narrow; she wasn’t going to take that risk.

With one kick, she knocked the person to the ground, incapacitating his leg, potentially making him the morning opponent’s comrade in misfortune: "How old are you to lose a fight and then reach for a weapon? I’m embarrassed for you."

Seeing their mom join the fray, the kids got even more excited. It didn’t take long for the three of them together to subdue another, leaving the last one no better, who was trying to flee from Yanyan and Yueyue.

The two sisters weren’t about to let him get away and chased him down, not stopping until they had him pinned.

Luo Qiao went over and stepped on him, those watching discreetly were stunned, thinking that Director Lu’s family was truly formidable.

Luo Qiao shouted towards the distance: "Get down here and take them away."

Realized they had been discovered, four people jumped down from different locations: "Sister-in-law, when do you have time so we can also spar a bit?"

Luo Qiao laughed: "Alright, arrange a time with your director."

One quickly backtracked: "I, I’m actually quite busy these days. We can discuss this another time."

Luo Qiao almost burst out laughing.

Watching as the three were taken away, Luo Qiao thoroughly checked over each child, confirming they were okay before leading them out of the alley.

The kids were quite excited, and Xiao Ye asked for credit: "Mom, is there a reward?"

Luo Qiao didn’t dismiss the kids’ excitement: "What rewards do you want? Each of you can ask for one thing."

Xiao Ye jumped up: "Mom, can we ask for anything?"

Luo Qiao smiled: "Don’t push your luck. You performed well today, but in the future, when no adults are with you, I don’t want you to do this. You could have easily gotten away from them."

Yanyan laughed and explained: "It’s just that Dad has been busy lately, with no time to spar with us. Even when we spar with Dad, he holds back. Today, all five of us together wanted to test our real skills, sorry for worrying you, Mom."

Luo Qiao laughed: "You really leave me speechless. Alright, you win."

Xiao Ye walked backwards in front of his mom: "Mom, I want a new basketball and soccer ball."

Xiao Yu teased: "Second brother, doesn’t that count as two requests?"

Xiao Ye walked over, putting his arm around his brother’s neck: "As long as you don’t rat me out, it’s one request. Besides, it’s not like you don’t benefit from it."

Xiao Yu laughed: "What’s fair is fair. I’m a good boy."

The two brothers laughed and played around.

Finally, they didn’t go straight home but each got a reward before heading back—a basketball for Xiao Ye, a soccer ball for Xiao Yu, a harmonica for Xiao Rui, and makeup sets for Yanyan and Yueyue.

Because New Year’s Day was coming up, and the school had a party this year, they were planning to buy those anyway, so they counted it as a reward.

Finally, they stopped at a bakery, bought a few pieces of chocolate cake, and then headed home.
