Chapter 1600: Chapter 1600: Wouldn’t This Be Bad
This matter was hotly discussed in the hospital for a few days, making Luo Qiao feel like someone was always watching her.
Everyone felt sorry for Wang Ruilun. Was it worth ruining his future for a girl?
And that intern, too. If you’re wrong, you should let others point it out. If it’s not mentioned, who will take responsibility for a larger medical accident? They truly don’t know what’s good for them.
A few days later, the storm finally passed, and work could return to normal.
Luo Qiao had some free time in the past days. With Rong Daniang’s help, she made two big bags of dried meat with spicy, five-spice, cumin, and original flavors.
She also cooked a lot of marinated eggs, fried mushroom sauce, beef sauce, chili sauce, and packed a lot of dried fruits and nuts from her stash. She even packed a lot of red dates, making two whole bags full of food.
The next day was Sunday. Lu Yichen had been busy with work lately and couldn’t accompany them to the base.
Luo Qiao told the kids to hurry and finish their homework, then leave at the planned time so they’d arrive at the base just as training ended. They didn’t want to disrupt Taifeng’s training schedule.
When Taifeng heard from the soldier on duty that someone was visiting, he was so happy he practically vanished.
The kids stood at the entrance to the reception room, and when they saw Taifeng rushing over, they all ran out, shouting, "Big Brother Taifeng, I’ve missed you."
Taifeng lifted Xiao Ye and placed him on his shoulders, then picked up Xiao Rui and Xiao Yu, spinning around once on the spot. He looked at Yanyan and Yueyue, wishing he had more hands.
Luo Qiao stood at the door, saying, "Get down, what do you think you’re doing."
Taifeng smiled and said, "It’s fine, I’ve missed them too."
They entered the reception room and chatted briefly because the military has specific meal times.
Luo Qiao didn’t want to keep Taifeng for long, so after handing him the two big bags of food, she said, "Keep one bag for yourself, and share the other with your comrades. We won’t stay long. Hurry and put these away so you can eat."
Taifeng felt a little guilty, thinking about how his aunt and siblings timed their visit so as not to interfere with his schedule, yet they had to leave quickly to avoid affecting him.
Just as he was about to suggest they eat at the military canteen together, the door to the reception room opened, and Lu Yixuan strode in.
Luo Qiao was surprised to see him, "Big Brother, what are you doing here?"
Lu Yixuan smiled lightly, "I was accompanying the leaders on an inspection of the units today. I heard family members were visiting Taifeng, so I came over."
Xiao Ye ran over with his hands outstretched, "Uncle."
The meaning was clear — he wanted to be picked up.
Lu Yixuan laughed and picked him up, "This is the army, you can’t be naughty, okay?"
Then he turned to Luo Qiao, "It’s mealtime already. Let’s go, I’ll take you to the canteen for lunch."
Luo Qiao hesitated a bit, "Wouldn’t that be inappropriate?"
Lu Yixuan smiled and said, "I’ll treat you to some small dishes today. It won’t be free. Let the little ones also taste the military canteen’s food."
Taifeng didn’t want them to leave hungry either, but he only accompanied them partway and didn’t join them for the meal. Lu Yixuan and Luo Qiao understood his feelings and agreed to meet at the training field afterward before parting ways.
Lu Yixuan led them through a side door to the canteen’s second floor, where he ordered some small dishes and rice.
Luo Qiao poured water for everyone, "Big Brother, Ran Ran also got into graduate school. What did her partner’s family say after that?"
Since the old man passed away, any issues were dealt with via phone calls, and the families gathered less often.
Lu Yixuan took a sip of water, "I still don’t think much of that guy, but Ran Ran likes him. Whatever her mother and I say, she won’t listen. We’ll just wait and see."
Luo Qiao had met the young man once. He was respectful, but his family situation wasn’t reassuring, yet her niece was adamant about being with him.
If it weren’t for Big Brother and Sister-in-law insisting she complete her studies before talking about marriage, they might already have been planning the wedding.
The dishes arrived quickly, and downstairs was a sea of uniformed soldiers. Possibly due to the novelty, the little ones were eating enthusiastically and occasionally ran to the staircase to peek downstairs.
Luo Qiao didn’t stop them. After all, who hasn’t been a curious kid once?
