Chapter 1359: Chapter 1359: Punishment Result
Luo Qiao arrived at the hospital, changed into her scrubs, and noticed that the other doctors had already started making their rounds in the inpatient department.
Luo Qiao went straight to the intensive care unit, asked about the situation, reviewed the records, then disinfected and changed into clean scrubs before entering the ward.
Last night, when Luo Qiao used acupuncture to stop the bleeding, she exercised her Special Ability. Now the patient was stable, with no adverse symptoms, which put Luo at ease. If she hadn’t been at the hospital last night, the consequences could have been dire.
Upon leaving the ICU, she overheard someone saying, "I heard the patient inside has seven sisters and he’s the only son. The one who insisted on entering the ICU yesterday was his fifth sister."
"That fifth sister is something else. She almost got her brother killed without even realizing it. Then she tried pleading and making excuses for him to Doctor Kang early in the office. She’s unbelievable."
"Still, at least she has a bit of a conscience. If it weren’t for her, Doctor Kang wouldn’t have been dragged into this."
"Oh, come on! Doctor Kang knows the hospital rules perfectly well. Why would he go out of his way to accommodate the family?"
"This is all the fault of the patient’s fifth sister. If she hadn’t begged Doctor Kang, none of this would have happened. Besides, how could she just throw herself onto her severely injured brother? I think she must have a screw loose, like it was intentional."
Luo Qiao listened to these comments and suddenly felt that something about this situation wasn’t so simple.
She called Lu Yichen and asked him to look into the family situation of the ICU patient named Cao Guobin, and if anything unusual had happened recently.
Knowing that Luo Qiao wasn’t the type to meddle without reason, Lu Yichen suspected she had some suspicions, so he hung up and instructed someone to investigate Cao Guobin’s situation.
Upon investigation, things were indeed uncovered.
This matter was related to the road in front of Luo Qiao’s house. The road was going to be widened, requiring the demolition of several houses. Due to the length of the road, it was being done in sections, with the Cao family being among the first to be relocated.
Because the Cao family had a quite large yard and was set to be entirely demolished, they were due for a significant compensation. Since Cao Guobin was the only son, it was expected that his parents would leave the money to him.
While the other sisters might have felt envious, they understood that their familial property would naturally go to their brother. Though resentful, they didn’t express it.
But the fifth sister, Cao Pandi, and her husband didn’t see it this way. They felt that all these years, the sisters and brothers-in-law had been taking care of the elderly parents while the younger brother did nothing. How could all the compensation solely go to the younger brother? It was unfair.
The fifth sister and her husband had brought this up with the family before but never reached a resolution. They felt frustrated with no way to change things.
Upon hearing about their brother’s severe car accident, they rushed to the hospital, only to be told that his injuries were grave and might not even make it through surgery.
They asked Doctor Kang, a friend of a friend, if they could see their brother. Despite knowing better, Doctor Kang surprisingly agreed, which led to the subsequent events.
What Luo Qiao didn’t expect was to see Zhang Chao in Mo Haiying’s ward. Zhang Chao, a soldier, was Zhang Xiao’s older brother. It turned out the little girl from before was his daughter, and Mo Haiying was his wife.
Zhang Chao was taken aback when he saw Luo Qiao.
Luo Qiao nodded, approached Mo Haiying’s bed to review the records, assisted in some examinations, asked a few questions, and then left the ward after giving some instructions.
Zhang Chao followed her out, saying, "Luo Qiao, thank you."
He had learned from his daughter that Luo Qiao had assisted in his wife’s surgery, made the call for his daughter, and even arranged for someone to bring his daughter food. The person even asked the nurses to look after her.
Luo Qiao smiled lightly, "It’s my duty, no need to thank me."
Zhang Chao knew Luo Qiao understood what he meant, but she played innocent.
Finishing her words, Luo Qiao turned and left, feeling a bit disgusted with the Zhang family.
Soon, Doctor Kang’s disciplinary decision was announced: all his work was suspended, and the hospital required a written apology from him.
Doctor Kang knew he was at fault, but he felt the punishment was too harsh. He even blamed the on-duty medical staff and Luo Qiao, claiming the hospital was being unjust.
Luo Qiao didn’t care about his protests. He was old enough, no longer a child, and needed to take responsibility for his actions.
When Doctor Kang’s family sought help from the hospital leadership to no avail, they turned to the medical staff on duty that day to no success.
Someone suggested they reach out to Luo Qiao. After her gentle refusal, they tried intercepting her at the hospital gate, attempting to kneel and beg for her to speak up for Doctor Kang. Realizing this, Luo stopped her car and left from another route.
Dr. Kang’s wife, who didn’t catch Luo in time, tried to vent her anger on Luo’s car, only to be caught red-handed by Qi Ling. Witnesses confirmed her act, resulting in her ending up at the police station with her husband’s problems unresolved.
Luo Qiao shook her head upon hearing this, saying, "Those two are surely two of a kind, petty and always blaming others instead of reflecting on their own mistakes. Truly a bizarre pair."
